I just received mine... and in case you need it, the total height of the dock is about 80cm but users will need about 90cm for 'airspace' to comfortably remove the tanks...
I purchased an Electrolux Trilobite (2nd Gen) when they came out. It lasted well and has only died this year. It cost $3350 when I bought it in 2005. Its battery life was appalling, but it was well made and worked reliably for a long time. If the Omni can last as long as that I'll be delighted.
As an owner of an Ecovacs Ozmo 920 (reasonably satisfied with it, though it has issues), what put me off buying the self emptying tower is that all the robot vac manufacturers have taken a step back in innovation with their towers by using disposable bags. I understand dust clouds and static holding onto dust, but there are ways around that, it seems like having paid a premium for these robo vacs 5 to 10x the cost of a premium upright vacuum cleaner if you buy the newest model, the companies want us to continue paying. On the subject of mopping they just need to make the discs wider so it cleans the edges effectively.
@@AlexTeo Yeah having the dirt compacted or dropping out the bottom of a tray when emptying would be preferable as you empty it in the bin, the flying dust would be minimal.
Bought my roborock vacuum 2 years ago and can't believe there are so many new features already! Looking forward to see how robot vacuums will continue to upgrade in the next few years :)
Be aware that if you have more than 1 floor you can’t really use it to mop and vacuum other than the floor with the base unit. The robot needs to return to it during its mopping cycle to clean the mop heads and add more water. If doing that on another floor it will stop and you must bring it back to the main floor where you have the station then bring it back to the floor you were mopping. Only thing it wont resume where it left off.
Self cleaning mop is sure a must before mopping become practical with robo vacuum.. one of my concern is dragging the dirty mop along its way back to self cleaning station..
technically it's still mopping on the way back so not too bad, just increase the cleaning interval to the shortest if you want it to be as clean as possible
As far as I can see, this model has the same software problem as the Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni version. The issue is that it always puts the mops in front of the station and spins (dry or dirty) while entering the station.
Thank you for the review. i think it is still rather primitive in term of the mopping function, as you rightfully pointed out that it doesn't mop all the area in the house and doesn't remove the hard stain on the floor... at the end of the day, it wont replace physical mopping... i will wait for more advance before i will buy
Physically mopping won't remove stains too, you will still have to go with a strong solution with a cloth and scrub hard. Robot mopping are best at running it daily to give your feet that nice clean and non sticky feel
This as well! Reason why i purchased another brand at over 50% less than this, it mops but wont be using it and also purchased the Tineco S5pro for deep scrub mopping and vacuum, both cost robot vac and tineco cost me $1000
@@ViceVersaYT I have the Bisell Crosswave. Arguably the best vacuum mop out there. But Im getting lazier and cant keep up with the crumb droppings of my 3 kids. I cant mop daily. At most once a week.
Great review. But from experience, as well as these robots do their jobs, it's the LONG TERM life of these devices that need addressing. After a few months of use, they start making odd noises, have software issues, etc. My first Deebot did well the first 4 months, then started making clicking noises. It's been retired to my basement which is all carpet. A short pile-type carpet. After 2 months of use there, the brush drive motor has been making a really loud whining noise that changes pitch with it backs up, and goes forward. I've done all a user can do to troubleshoot it but it's not going away. It also feels like the drive "cog" for the brush is slipping. On a flat smooth surface, it's fine. On any rug or carpet, it's very very noisy. The vac is about 2 years old now. So, in retrospect, buying one of these NEW Ecovacs units for more than $1k, buyers should be aware of these things do break and wear out. Get extended warranty coverage.
my first robot vacuum is like 7 years ago, I don't see them breaking down or having issues within a year. They all able to last me 2-3 years around there. As there are many moving parts, bumping here and there at times, so they are not those kind of appliance that can last you 5-10 years
@@AlexTeo My vac's always did my 1st floor. About 1800 sqft of hardwood, some area rugs, and a few cat toys. They would run no less then 3 times a week and sometimes, some spot cleaning. I have a 2+ year old deebot that is grinding gears on carpet (does find on flat tile or hardwood). It's something I can't fix. I just tossed a V9000 Samsung because one of the wheel cogs got wore down and the poor thing went in circles more than a straight line. I had it doing my 2nd-floor walkway and the 4 bedrooms about 2 times a week. Every unit gets a battery change if they make more then one trip back to charge during the job. I won't even talk about having to clean the brushes, even the refuse tank and blowing the unit off once a month to ensure all the sensors are clear. So, for $1000, there is a lot to do and a lot that can go wrong with these bad boys in a short period of time if they are used for more then a 500sq ft apartment. FWIW, my house has a whole house vac system from NuTone. Been installed in 1996. I've only had to replace 1 bulb in the motorized floor unit and filters. Thats it. Don't get me wrong, these robots are cool as heck and keeps us from dragging out the 30ft hose for the whole house unit. Time saver.
My roomba 562 is over a decade old and still runs fine. I upgraded to the J7+ and the Omni x1 recently so now it cleans my office at work. It still runs like new. You just need to take care of the robot and it will take care of your floor.
Hi Alex . Phew ! I watched your robotic cleaners about 1 1/2 years ago and then recently the last three months , I could not find your videos . However today I found your video and now have saved it . Thank you for all your hard efforts making these informative videos . May I ask if you’re still happy with the ecovacs X1 omni as the reviews in Europe are pretty poor regarding customer support ? Thank you . FP
come to my channel under videos then you will find everything haha, I don't make a lot of videos so should be quite easy to search. Ya I am satisfied with the X1 and still using it now. The support I got from ecovacs is very good but I am not sure is it because I got special treatment so can't comment on that haa
This is awesome Alex, i was waiting for such product, and thought i really have to wait for quite some time after watching your previous video on vacuum robot. Thanks for the review, as usual, like your very practical opinion on pdts review. Just hope they do some launch promo price discount :-)
Ive ordered the X1 OMNI. Its on the way. One drawback i feel is that the robot is too wide. It cannot get between many chairs out there. You need the robot to be around 30cm or small to get in between chairs.
Will you do a comparison review for x1 omnia and roidmi Eva? Both looks very similar in terms of the self cleaning functionality. Even under the hood seems the same lol
Think you should have also covered the app a bit since they did some changes. Otherwise, specs look good, but other reviews show that the circular mopping may not be better than the Roborock G10/S7Maxv's simple pad, nor as clean after self-cleaning. It looks like the X1 has the better obstacle avoidance though, and obviously better looking.
I disagree. I had the T8+, with the sonic pads. It did well, but my results so far with this product are much improved. The spinning pads made my floor cleaner then it has been in a long time.
@@sdcoinshooter Can see some X1 vs G10S reviews to compare, as it's different than ozmo pro (which I also have). Example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SZOKDzzJjmg.html
Omg, this is awesome. How this ecovac would free up so much of my time. I wonder if they would take a trade in on my husband for this lol 😆 great review, am definitely saving my $$ for this. Thanx for the update/review. Keep up the great work, love your vlogs 👍🤙
Great video as always Alex :) indeed auto empty like the washing machine will be great. What colour and brand is the vinyl in the room with the Ecovacs the darker brown one.
@@AlexTeo haha right?! I do have a quick question. I hear that ecovacs have better mopping plates that will put down more water but I'm unsure how to get them. Would I have to reach out directly to them or are they already replaced on new units shipping now? Thanks again!
Thanks so much for this helpful review. So excited to see the automation of the new Deebot. I have the 950 and T8, but am constantly changing pads because I partitioned my floor into smaller areas ( like you I have issue with one small pad cleaning whole house). Can be a chore with constant changing. May I check with you regarding the hot air drying? How long does it take to dry the cleaning pad? An electrician told me anything with heat uses a lot of energy😮.
Great review, love that you mention noise impressions too, so many other reviews seem to be instructed it seems by manufacturers to not touch the subject at all. As you know since you're a dog owner too, sound is important for people with pets :) I'm just a little worried getting replacement bags in the long term here in Europe. Also we tend to have quite some lime in the drinking water. Do they touch this in the manual ? Should you use demineralized water, or can you use like a 50% vinegar mix to keep the station and water channels clean ?
Maybe the next version, definitely not recommend if the house has lots of carpet and you want a single bot to mop and vacuum everything in a single session
Hi Alex, I’ve been watching this video for awhile now and am impressed with it. Am considering it for my upcoming home but now I am also looking at Roborock S8 Pro Ultra. What are your takes on both of these robots and which do you recommend more?
I have an x1e and after 70mq the battery runs out and then it need lot of hours to get recharged... Is this normal? Is the x1 version morr performant? I am thinking to return it because the cleaning is always incomplete...
I am tossing up between the Omni, the Roborock S7 VMax Ultra and the Bissell Spinwave R5. I am impressed with the Omni, but have found the company does not respond to emails that I have sent asking questions. This puts doubt In my mind regarding their after sales service. I like the spinning mops that the Omni and Bissell have. I don't really mind if it does have a self cleaning dock, as long as it carries water. I just want a reliable vacuum, that I will only use on tiles and one that maps well. I feel the spinning mops will get into the grout better than the pad, but I may be wrong. I would appreciate any feedback you can offer. I do enjoy your honest videos
i will suggest to go with either ecovacs or roborock, bissell is really not known for their robovac. The cleaning performance is actually very similar, nothing very special about spinning mop pads. The roborock allows you to access to the internal water tank directly, you might like that more. In terms of after sales support, I think it defers based on where you stay
Your video never fail to impress. Easy for locals to understand and make decision based on all of your recommendations 👍👍 Have you heard of Eufy? Apparently they sold a couple of smart gadgets. Would appreciate if you could make some reviews on them 😁
Alex, my house has 2 lvl story, how should I apply this robot, I planned to put it 1st floor, am I able to clean the 2nd lvl too ? Like how does it work if I just carry the robot and put it on the 2nd floor ? (Without the station) What do you think ? Thanks you’re awesome !
I have had mine one week, and absolutely love it! It is about as close to perfect as is available today. The ONLY thing I wish is it would vacuum, then mop without me having to add the mopping pads; (The manual says for best results vacuum without the pads installed). Still, a fantastic product
@@notmymonkeynotmycircuss9537 The manual states for best vacuuming you should remove the mop pads. So, if you want to vacuum AND mop, you must run the machine in vacuum mode, then when it is complete and returns to the docking station, install the mopping pads and run the machine again. There is no provision in the Ecovacs for identifying carpet when mopping. So, when in mopping mode I had to either pick up my rugs (only a couple small ones) or identify them in the app as a no-go zone; you don’t want the machine mopping over your carpet. With the Roborock, if you want to vacuum and mop, you are able to do it in one run. The machine will vacuum the floor from the front and mop from the rear at the same time. If it comes to carpet or a rug, then the mopping pad is withdrawn in to the machine and it will only vacuum, then when back on the hard floor the mopping pad is extended and it continues to vacuum and mop. This is a HUGE advantage in my opinion over the Ecovacs. Not only does it only take one run to complete both vacuuming and mopping, but it also saves the hassle of picking up the rugs in my house or identifying them in the app as a no-go zone before every mopping run. Just my opinion, but it was a big enough of a deal for me to sell my Ecovacs and purchase the Roborock. I am very very happy with that decision.
Wow thank you so much for your time to reply and for the information as well. I still confused doesn’t know which one to decide, since the price ain’t cheap, I really need time to review and collect many information as much as I can. Both ecovacs or roborox- they actually doesn’t spray water right? They only using wet pad to mop. No water spray to the floor like other robot vacuum?
@@notmymonkeynotmycircuss9537 That is correct, the Ecovacs has two rotating brushes that get wet and scrub the floor, the Roborock has a vibrating mop pad that gets wet from the machine. If you want one that sprays water and then mops the only one that I know is the IRobot M6 (but it doesn’t have a vacuum).
i'm never 100% satisfied haha, but I will still pick this over any other robovac out there now. The xiaomi one all-in-1 is something i really want to test out especially it's so much cheaper
I bought it on the 25th during their launch sale and was waiting for your review! Glad to know you have good comments about it 👍🏻 excited to use it soon!
Alex, I just watched this video (which is from a year ago). Any updates on such very good vacuum and mop self cleaning machines? Btw, really like your videos!❤
Hello Alex, thanks for you videos, how if you experience after 9 months? Also how wet the floor is after mopping? I bought a new one and, even with max water usage, I only have a very thin trail of wet on the floor (no trail with lower usage); not sure if mine is malfunctioning or if this is expected.
hmm is this your first time using robovac with mopping? their mopping are not those very wet type, but having said that the x1 do feels a little less wet as well so i have it set to max water usage too. I suggest to manual wash the pads once a while as well, if not they will become kinda hard and that will affect the water flow
Dear Alex, thank you so much for this video. My X1 Omni arrived last night and I am currently very disappointed about the little information on the features. I am in Germany and selected German as language. The voice commands: are they listed anywhere (my impression is that it is not optimized for German). I tried to change the language back to English, but that did seem to confuse the software completely (=location Germany and language English). - I have a delicate carpet that he should not mop with water and I just cannot find a way how to tell the robot not to go there, nor can I find in the app how to install a "no-go" zone - let alone what the command would be in German (which I seem to be stuck with). I also have a 4 year old Xiaomi and I must say that the mapping functionality, no-go zone drawing was very intutitive, I never needed any manual. - Now, I feel helpless after spending a long time trying to find how to define the no-go zone without any success - If anyone out there can help, I would be very very happy and grateful!
I am sorry, I had fast forwared to the special features instead of watching your entire video - so MY problem is actually solved by the machine being more intellligent than I had expected -it will not mop the carpet with water - perfect. - The other issue that someoene else mentioned: when you have more than one floor to mop (wet): we have to return it to the dock, but apparently it cannot "resume" where it left off - I have not tried it yet - but I hope there is a way to circumvent this issue (buy more docking stations...?)
app is only important for the central smart home controls that you are on which shouldn't be more than 2, robovac app is not going to be one of them. It is pretty much setup once and forget, only go in if there are errors. The UI design and navigation is good, app stability not so especially when you have the app running at background
Wow. Its year 2022 & robot vacuums are combining with robot mops with auto clean stations . when in 2021, it seems like the product will take another 2-3 years .
Thanks Alex. Is there a feature to choose floor. Like to take the unit upstairs and set floor one ? Then take it back to the charging station in G floor ?
the water tank capacity is only 80 ML on Deebot X1 omni where as other models like the t8 model is 240 ml. with such a small water tank will it not need frequent docking ?
Great video Alex! I have the ecovac T9 and hair tangling is the greatest issue as my wife has long hair. I have to manually clean the robot each week to rid the long hair. How does this automatic cleaning do with hair?
yes I have the same version of the ecovacs, the only issue is the tangling hair, so I set it clean 1/2 room at a time, not all the entire house, it works okay there is still a little amount of tangling hair but better than before The earlier AES has 2 hole, so the hair pulling from each other hole Sorry if my English is bad Planning to buy this omni soon , but yeah it is pretty expensive
Hi Alex, thanks for your great review. I'm a little interested in Roborock recently, especially their latest model S7 MaxV series, is there any chance you will review it?
Hi Alex, may i know does this x1 omni used up alot of electricity? And how many hours it will take to charge up. Thank you so much for the nice video review.
Hi Alex, i just got the x1 omni today... By any chance would you know why my x1 omni is already asking me to refill the water tank after just 1 cleaning session? Have previously filled it to the max on the first time.
Did you physically check whether there are still water inside the clean water tank? I suggest you take some time to observe what the bot is doing in one cleaning session, such as how many times it did the self cleaning, and is there excess water leaking out during the cleaning
Hi Alex Great review! I'm still a bit confused with the mopping pads and carpet cleaning thing. I have carpets almost in every room. If I want to vaccum and mop at the same time, can I still use Omni with the mopping pads and set the carpet areas as a forbidden zone? Or is there another way to do so without having to remove the mopping pads? TBH I'm a lazy cleaner 😇 Also, my house has 2floors. Do I need to start from the 1st floor, or Omni knows how to take the scales? I'm new in this vaccum automation life, and wonder if omni or roborock would be the best fit for me.
hihi, the newer generation of vacuum robots with mopping is they will avoid going up the carpets to avoid dirtying them, so basically they will just vacuum and mop on hard floors. If you want to vacuum carpets, you have to manually remove the mopping component. Roborock S7 and after has the feature to lift up the mopping by around 1cm when it detects carpet. So it depends on what kind of carpets are in your rooms, if they are low pile carpets then go for roborock as it can clean everything in 1 single cleaning session. If not, then maybe can consider getting 2 robots instead, 1 to do vacuum and 1 to do mopping. Since you have 2 floors, they can run concurrently as well
@@anne-laurencezanclan5651 iRobot J7+ and Narwal T10. The narwal is actually a vacuum too, but it's a much better mop, so I leave the mop pads on it. The two combined cost the same as 1 Omni
I am currently testing the W10 haa.. the mopping is good but other areas not so. If you already have another robot to do vacuum and w10 to do mopping then probably stick with this setup
