It is difficult to receive blessings from God if we are nowhere to be found. Separating ourselves from God makes it impossible. God wants to bless us but can't if we won't pay attention to Him.
Great lesson as always. I would say, however, that our academics have steered us away from what the prophets have said, regarding the location of the book of Mormon. Joseph Smith, and Oliver Cowdrey, were clear on the location in North America. The book itself testifies of its location and promised blessings on the land upon which it was written. For anyone interested in this topic, I would recommend Wayne Mays, Rod meldrum, Bruce Porter, Jonathan Neville and searching the heartland model. This model has restored my faith that the Book of Mormon is a genuine record, real people, and a real civilization. I was in the mesoamerican camp for 20 years, and was greatly disappointed in the lack of evidence. Obviously my faith is has come by the spirit, but it matters where it was located because of the promised blessings, covenants and responsibilities of that land.
Nephi chosen to "Act" rather than "Recact" like his brothers. Nephi chosose to act in faith and acquire of God "oft" to follow that direction or campass.
8:46 ”compassion for others is not a virtue by itself, ALL VIRTUE MUST BE CENTERED IN JESUS CHRIST". I love this part, but I'm not sure if I fully understand this part. What does it mean "all virtue must be centered in Jesus Christ"? I get it, but not really..😂😂😂😂.... I know it's true, (maybe I'm slow, I'm sure lol) but I need to understand it more. Any examples?
Im speculating that they were drunk? If you've been around drunks , can relate of rudeness..and or vulgar dancing..doung and saying things you normally wouldnt do.
