Great video and shot of Donner Pass. Snowshoed there several years ago but a foot of snow had falled covering the one sign on the tree and we passed our turn, no map, electronic or paper. Hiked back in the dark but lucky there was a full moon. Blessings!

Castle peak is one of the very first Mountains I ever climbed. Also climbed mount Lola. I remember waking up in the morning in the parking lot inside my truck freezing cold. I didn’t even realize until halfway to the top of Castle that my water was frozen. I was so inexperienced at the time that I was using a summer day pack and the hose froze up. I had to keep twisting the hose to get water. As you know every trip is a learning experience. Thanks for the memories. Nice video. 👍

Just came upon your videos so I'm getting caught up. Love them. Your videos are refreshing. We had a doggie that looked just like Blue(Bob). We called him Joe(Bob). Really. He also had a spinal injury while we were traveling. We found the Vet school hospital in Fort Collins Colorado. They treated him with various treatments (massage, acupuncture) for a week. Plus we put him on a product called Enzymes. They told us he would be a cart dog b/c of paralysis but the Enzyme pills healed his injury. Unfortunately the 4 different types of pain meds caused kidney failure. But we will always cherish the adventures we had with him.
Wha, I'm always amazed and in ahw of you doing this all and by yourself. It seems impossible, or like "maybe where you live, but here..no" kinda way. You inspire many, if not to just try it with friends or partners! Thank you for the tips and the views~ Can not wait to see where you're going next!
I love watching your videos. Your very lucky to have all them lovely places to hike and camp. I wish I lived in America here in Ireland there's lots of great hiking and camping spots. But over in America seems to be endless places and a lot more nicer. Maybe someday I'll get over for a hiking and camping holiday adventure. Great videos thanks for sharing 😊
Just a hint for the future; always melt snow with at least a couple inches of water in the bottom of your pot. Otherwise, the snow melt will taste sort of burnt. (I'm a 69 year old Canadian, trust me, I know.) I am loving your videos. You have a charm that is addictive; it's always a pleasure seeing you.

Yay omg! It’s so inspiring to see a woman go hiking and backpack by themselves! I mention it to my family and friends and they get so anxious. Hopefully I can go in my first backpacking trip in 2024!
This is the second video I’ve watched, and you are such a bad ass and inspire me to go solo myself. I watch sooo many camping and backpacking videos and they are all men and you are trail blazing (pun intended) the female backcountry, backpacking, bad-assing, camping scene so well and with such knowledge and style.

I clicked on this because I was like "Peter Grubb Hut???" But you know, maybe other huts look the same. Saw Castle Peak at about 3:00 and got super excited! Yes!!!
I enjoy your spirit. Though the snow conditions didn't warrant snowshoes - hard crunchy consolidated snow. The old hole in the ground trail is a superb MTB ride. Castle peak and the ridge is the start point and the hut is right beyond in the glade a obscured from sight. I've spent many nights in that hut. My trips were ski in though. Have you ventured to the Ostrander hut? It's a worthwhile trip. edit: - your knowledge base belies your years and it's refreshing. The bit about white gas and elevation/low temps, and Seed water to melt snow is not often highlighted. Using a stuff sack to collect more snow is a good technique. The outhouse is a composter style and fairly recent. There used to be a water barrel at the ground level entrance bitd. BZ!
22:00 - One good thing to try with a Nalgene water bottle is to boil some water and use it as a hot water bottle. You can put it in your bag before you get in or you can keep it in your bag with you. Just make sure there's no leaks :)

Just came across your channel and it is excellent video and content. One way to keep your feet from sweating during cold weather hikes/activities is to use Arid Extra Dry Antiperspirant on the soles of your feet. It also works in hot weather to prevent feet sweating. We used it a lot in the military to keep our feet from sweating during multiple days in the field and hiking.
Great video. Due climate change it almost never snows here anymore in the Netherlands :( I remember going on a sled to school when I was a kid. And the famous 11 steden tocht (Eleven city tour) on ice skates. Last one was held in 1996
