it was a wild time to be a JDM fan in the mid 90s to early 2000s. The one-up manship of rival brands made it feel like we were witnessing something like this every other month. Mitsubishi produced an Evo VI called the Zero fighter which was a JDM only model based on the Evo VI GSR. The UK then got it's own version based on the Evo VI RS II called the Extreme. Similar in terms of lots of Ralliart goodies & more power. The UK also got Prodrive fettled Impreza models like the P1, RB5, RB320 plus many more. Such a pity that Mitsubishi only produce SUV shaped things these days. Subaru also seem to have lost their mojo.

The kit looks like you see back in the days in "Need for Speed" and "Super Street" etc. 😁

So cool to see one of these on video! The spec of all the performance upgrades is unbelievable too. I tried to buy an S201 wing for my Version 6 STI a while back and im even more gutted I missed it now.

This was one of my all time favorite cars at one point and nearly the whole reason I put WRX over the EVO line.

I remember seeing the Electra One Concept at the Australian International Car Show in Melbourne wayy back in the day before these came out. Was absolutely mind blowing back in the day. I think I have film photos of it somewhere!

i mean the 22b's engine had a lot more trick stuff to it and focused on good response and torque delivery instead of peak hp, this just seems like a regular sti engine with like stage 1 mods, plus the 22b had a seam welded chassis that alone speaks volumes about how much effort was put into it, and it seems like it was wider too, does anyone know if the special diff and suspension from this model were also on the 22b?

It's still very rare but there's actually 300 of them produced globally. There's 400 22Bs in comparison all up. And interestingly, the Evo 9 RS only has 195.

I live over seas and have a 99 JDM STI, these special versions are literally all the same. 22B is just fantasy love from US fan boys. Two words, boost controller. The normal, post 98 models are all just fine. Don't become caught up on all the models.
