I’d like to say, for me, the better quality sleep seems to help lessen the next days symptoms. Can I ask if you will be looking into mucus production during the night? This seems to be a cause of a sleep apnea type situation. Although, not actually a breathing problem, my use of mouth taping seems to show my breathing is ok but mucus collecting in the back of my throat is my issue.

Try elevating your head and chest with extra pillows or a wedge. Try laying on your side, not back. These tricks can work because you usually have nasal congestion when coughing. Mucus buildup can drip back into your throat (AKA post-nasal drip) and trigger the cough. Elevating your head or laying on your side may let the mucus drip out instead of back into your throat. I know it sounds counterintuitive but hydration is important, and maybe try a neti pot before bed to reduce the allergens in your nasal passage.

@@LongCovidBreathing Thanks but I do all those things. The bed is on blocks and I have pillows too, I tried the wedge but kept sliding down it. I sip water when acid reflux hits and I try to drink plenty of water through the day. I don’t eat past 7pm and drink past 8pm. Oh well, it’s a mystery
