Im from brandenton. Few miles from img. Moved south. When we played img. I loved beating a team that legally recruited. They had to look nationwide. And we beat them both times we played. Their campus is sick tho. Definitely prepare top national athletes to adapt to college lifestyle pretty early
My uncle used to live in Bradenton. I remember visiting when I was in high school and it was still the Bollitieri Academy. My uncle lived just down the road. I also remember at that time the average lineman at Manatee High was like 300lbs. Crazy good athletes down that way!
i played at a baseball tournament w my HS team in 2018 at IMG, they put us in their campus housing for a few days. that was a real "how the other half lives" experience lol. i went to a good college too and still never got treated that good 🤣
I’ve only watched 2 uploaded games with the Thompson team but the biggest takeaway so far is they love to bitch and not swing the bat. I’m all for automated umps bc i feel like bad umping ruins games but it’s not like that, adjust and adapt, you can’t just look back to argue every controversial call. Learn the umps patterns (which we shouldn’t have to bc the strike zones never changed in baseball) and swing the bat.
The happy and efficient people in this world are those who accept trouble as a normal detail of human life and resolve to capitalize it when it comes along.
That closer for thomspon sold. Coach should have let the other guy finish, he was pitching great. What was the velocity on IMG starter? his fastball had some heat to it.
Let the future tell the truth, and evaluate each one according to his work and accomplishments. The present is theirs; the future, for which I have really worked, is mine.
So a FLA HS team has two local players on the team facing a team of Alabama players? Sounds legit. And that Thompson starter was hella wild. With that ump's strikezone I am not sure how you walk and hit that many batters.
6'1" seems to be a popular height for the players... most of them looked 5'9"-5'10" tops... not sure what lying abt your height in baseball is gonna do
I know Im being nit-picky as hell, but these are back to back posts where Ive noticed piss poor umpiring mechanics. Specifically, when U1 heads down to 3B, U2 is never at home plate, where he belongs when a 2 man crew umpires a game. The prices these parents are paying to send their kids to these sport-based high schools, youd expect to see some umpires who know how to rotate. And that umpire last night truly was terrible. Not bc of his calls, which did suck, but bc of his inability to control the game. He was getting pushed around by the coaches in the vandy looking uniforms
IGM schools are good because they ONLY accept good athletes. Secondly, they spend half a day on sports when public schools don't get that option. So, when you say they are number 1....so freaking what. They should be every year when you are playing other public schools. It's an unfair advantage if you ask me. They should only be playing other boarding schools and that's it.
#19 is the most annoying teammate you can have. Dude knows Zero about the rules and he's and Outfielder. If you were on my team and you even tried to get that ball from under the Padding I'd throw the ball at you myself. It's an Automatic Double, we play Wall ball and as soon as that ball gets stuck Hands go up. Then you retrieve the ball and throw it back in.
I remember when I was a senior in 2007 and we played Thompson in the 1st round of the playoffs they had maybe 1 black kid. That was how it was for all the teams except for the crappy inner school crap holes. Really sad to see what has happened to Thompson. Clay Chalkville use to be a great little school down the road from Hewitt, was always a contender in several sports. Watched school let out the other day and omfg I thought I was in Bessemer or CenterPoint. Looked it up, now over 80% black. You really hate to see the decline of so many good establishments. It is trully like a virus infecting everything
