I’m not sure if l’m correct in saying that in America, kids can get their licences at 16???? I’m from Australia and for us to get licences, we can get a learners permit at 16 and have to have 120 hours in all weather conditions accompanied with a full licensed driver while behind the wheel (you get 2 years to do your hours, but of course, the more hours the better)… Once you’re 18, then you can get a licence if you pass. Now having said all of this, we still get some teenagers who are just as reckless as the young driver in this video…. I do think being older is certainly a great idea but if they aren’t mature in thought, these accidents will still occur sadly 😢
So sad for the families and the ones involved but I see so many people driving so fast, everyone in a rush, without signalling, cutting everyone off and tailing so close - young and old. It’s unnecessary.
in Ontario you do a written test to get your G1 then after 1 year during which you can only drive with an experienced adult in the passenger seat. you can also complete driving school which reduces the time to 8 months. After you can do your first road test to get your G2. This allows you to drive on your own with certain rules depending on age. people under 18 or something cant drive at night on highways with a full car of other minors etc etc etc. if your in your 20s its basically your full license. then 1 year later you can do your final roadtest
Its not speed that causes chaos on our roads but speed differential, you have to go with the flow of traffic. With teens it usually involves inexperience, cockiness or substances.
I have never seen this amount of road rage and disobeying traffic laws as I am witnessing these days and it really takes the enjoyment out of driving. Everybody is in a mad rush. Tailgating is really on the rise.
You're not supposed to enjoy driving anymore. You're supposed to quit driving and use public transit for "net zero." Driving is a privilege and not a right. A privilege soon to be removed from the public very soon.
I think it's about time we change our licensing system, it's pathetic the backlog of people now are taking test with less requirement's to pass, it's time to raise the age you are allowed to get a license. Teenagers nowadays have clearly displayed they don't deserve to have the privilege of driving as we are the ones that pay for their delinquencies.
It's wrong to make most good drivers pay for the mistakes of bad drivers Talk to your local rep to ensure that the good drivers pass tests and bad drivers don't
There should be a maturity test for boys that age, before allowing them on the road. I see them weaving in and out of traffic every time I'm out They are sometimes going 30--50 KPH over the posted speed limit.
No traffic enforcement by police anywhere in the city and no one is ever held accountable for not obeying traffic laws. Stop signs have become just a suggestion and I see people running red lights regularly.
Tinted front windows are everywhere. Taxis and delivery drivers speed down residential streets. License plate covers are common. Hamilton Police are allowing lawlessness in minor ways that decrease safety. This police inaction has eroded respect for the rules of the road and made our city more dangerous.
Cops gotta step it the fk up with their presence and enforcement on the roads in our city. Seems like they rely on cameras for the roads now. It's a joke.
@@pedrochip Distracted driving is OUT OF CONTROL. We're addicted, can't even help ourselves. Look up, look down, up, down repeat. Scary when I saw a paramedic doing it. Yikes. It's worse than most people even realize or care to acknowledge because they are the problem themselves. The addiction is REAL.
PLEASE survive boys, you're just kids!😢 Many Condolences to the young lad's family, the boy who didn't make it. Just terrible. With our sympathy, from Ottawa.🕊 🐾🌈☮️🇨🇦
I'm consistently seeing drivers on the linc going 130+, weaving in and out, driving right up behind people and zero cops pulling them over. If you aren't going to have police on the roads, bring back photo radar. It's nuts how crazy some of these drivers are, and the ones I see look pretty young.
Police have been sidelined by political interference and useless bleeding heart courts who treat witnesses and victims as garbage and the offenders as royalty. We urgently need speed cameras everywhere and laws that penalize the owner of the vehicle where the driver can’t be identified. Know who’s driving your car and how they drive or face the consequences
@@GoSolarPlz Wrong. Police have been using it as an excuse to avoid doing paperwork. None of what you said stops them from doing their job. arrest, they aren't the courts and it's none of their business. They only serve one function, to apply the law on the fly. We urgently need the police to start doing their jobs again. show me cases where people are getting out of speeding tickets bud.
The government of Ontario relaxed the rules for drivers to get their G license during COVID to reduce the backlog. The Drivetest backlog is long gone (October "22) but the lower standard remains (the G test was once 30 minutes - now 20 minutes or less with half of the marked manoeuvres removed. This lower standard allows for more to pass (especially newcomers) therefor getting a job (paying taxes) vs maintaining a higher road safety standard. This is what you get when the licensing process is scammed and manipulated by both government and shady applicants/instructors - too much "me" thinking & not enough "we" perspective.
Also the written test can be done via the testers own provided translator, orally. Here in Kitchener the Gazan refugees have their driversclicenses within a week of arrival, with zero English skills. Not knowledge of traffic laws, signs etc. Then they are put through trucking schools for graduated larger trucks, all via translators. How going from a rural, environment to 16 lane highways with minimal training is allowed is scary.
The Mumbai drivers are the worst. Raging beeping etc. they break every law out there to get their uber pay. But! If you beep at them then they retaliate more. Of course with their phone on their lap. Utterly insane.
Mentally, they are until they aren't. This requires a grander scope into the education of children in all regards. Life lessons early saves potential future pain. We have given up on psychology and proper education and morals of our young in society. The political baggage needs to stop when it comes to educating the youth. It's hard to blame teens when do much has failed them.
This is disgusting. I travel the link every day and it's disgusting how many maniacs are driving well over the limit, cutting in and out of traffic. I haven't seen a Police car in months on the link. Where have the Police been all summer? I haven't seen any for months, anywhere.
Man...do you live in hamilton. Id love to meet up and talk about this more. You sound like a wonderful human being. Not self centered and pompous in the slightest. But i digress, that meet up? Love to go into more detail about how wonderful of a person i think you are.
Tired of everyone blaming young people and treating youth like it's a disease. These young people are mimicking what they see on the street EVERY day by much more experienced drivers. What we need to do is provide these kids positive role models and set firm boundaries, not just throw them our keys and let them 'have at it'. That behavior is a reflection of our entitled culture and we need to take a long hard look in the mirror before we start going off about how dangerous young people are. We share a huge responsibility to ensuring our roads are safe for ALL drivers and start being a part of the solution, NOT the problem! And, more importantly, thoughts and prayers to all those affected by this tragedy! 💔😪
Not sure yet who all was involved, maybe it was one of those...." oh, I'll get there before you type scenes"...see it all the time on the 401....sad day for these kids
Right near my house, Jeeze! I hope the two in hospital recover. If the other vehicles fled the scene is it still considered a hit and run or is it a different situation when there are multiple vehicles?
Funny how media not saying that these are high school kids that have been beefing with each other, few high schools involved, brebeuf vs Henderson high,
I've lived in this area, and this appears to have happened at the on ramp merge. Until more details are available, that's it, that's all that can be said. From my experience, merging onto the link was always a nightmare. It was a common experience when trying to merge safely into traffic, that no matter the speed you got to on the ramp, the traffic on the link would not let you in safely, they would race you and keep the gap closed. It was not uncommon over the years to more than once run out of merge lane due this. Really do not miss living in this area.
I still live in that area and I seldom have a problem merging onto the link. People with brains will let you in knowing the ramps are short. I let people in all the time. I don't think an extra 10 seconds ever spoiled anyone's day.
Agree 100%! Good driving is also being compassionate. The zipper move needs to be taught! It keeps traffic flowing while being safe. I'm terrified to let my kids drive from fear of others.
I've never had a problem with merging except when the people in front of me merge at 60km/h creating extremely dangerous conditions for me. Remember folks, it's your responsibility to speed up or slow down to merge.
@@wysetech2000 you are a good one. The times I'm in Saskatoon I let people in and then drive a consistent speed at or just below limit and leave lots of space to car in front of me if I can't move over a lane. It seems many drivers have just lost all ability to merge and or let people on to merge. I can't imagine what its like in Southern Ontario now. Grew up there but haven't been back much in the last 10 years.
I wouldn't be against upping the driving age to 21. I remember as a teenager having a bad accident due to horseplay, it simply luck that I didn't hurt anyone else. Poor poor family.
Why oh why?!!! Such a senseless and 100% avoidable car crash. Young people just think that they are invincible and some of them once behind the wheel are just plain careless with their stupidity…… they never think about the possible consequences and when such an accident happens, it’s their families who have to pick up the pieces while their hearts break… My heart and prayers go out to the family of the young man who passed away and my heart and prayers go out to the families of the other two who are in hospital with critical injuries…. I hope they pull through ❤
@@Lorrdd I guess you never saw it during the muscle car era when all you heard was wheels screeching as drag racing one on one was like a national pastime. For the most part the cops looked the other way depending on the state and city.
Let this serve as a sobering message, especially to all young drivers, that speed kills. These families lives have changed forever. Very sad for all of them.♥
30kph limits, speed cams, LRT's, bus lanes, single lanes and bicycle lanes cause road rage. Slamming the brakes or the gas at red light cams to avoid the ticket causes accidents. Giving licences and high performance luxury cars to people that have never seen a car, can't even read the signs or speak the language causes death. Hmmm...no names released in this accident... This is the MTO protecting driver safety. Or rather they're inviting you to voluntarily quit driving for net zero before the driving privilege is completely and lawfully removed in favour of net zero and public transit.
About time authorities began removing debris quickly and opening up the road. Many hours of closure every time an accident happens is unnecessary and creates more anxiety in drivers and can result in more accidents. Just imagine four accidents happening at similar times in one area and shutting down each roadway, crazy
Teen boys driving too fast having the time of their lives and thinking they are invincible. Now families are destroyed and lives changed forever I think they should raise the age limit to drive. They are t experienced enough. My heart goes out to their families it makes me so sad you hear it all the time.
The root cause in that city is lack of money on the part of many of the residents. Choosing to drive with no license and no insurance isn't a great choice to make even if its your only choice due to lack of money.
I live here. None of this was road rage or stupidity. The teens in the hospital where fleeing another teen in a vehicle that had a gun. It began as a problem at a high school on the Hamilton Mountain.
Another death that should never have happened. Youth and speed have long been a perilous mix on the roadways, as vehicles and inexperience create a hazardous combination.
Add to that irresponsible car makers that make cars that can go more than 130km/h. And useless courts that refuse to convict or if they do it’s a slap on the wrist. The roads are full of people who have dozens or hundreds of traffic offence convictions and they’re still allowed to drive
Amost of them assume to knoq what happened. Another large portion are adults making fun of the kids or blaming them for insurance. If half these people said any of this infront of me....what pathetic people.
They need to raise the speed limits as limits set too low lead to road rage. Minimum speed law limits must be brought in as its been about 50 years since they should have been brought in.
The amount of ignorant people in this comment section that think this was to do with racing or whatever that don’t even know the backstory is crazy don’t speak if you have no idea what the reason was
High school diploma = requirement for drivers license. Driving school= requirement Defensive driving lessons= requirement. EVERYBODY should know what it feels like to hit the brakes hard. EVERYBODY should practice swerving an missing obatacle. Driving is more than turn signals and checking your mirrors. An experienced driver doesnt even check their odometer because they know by feeling what speed their at. An experived driver hardly touches the brakes unless theyre coming to a complete stop. An experienced driver will know every move every person on the roads with them is going to make. This is pathetic and negligence at its finest. You are not entitled to drive. Driving is a privilege and you should have to do more to prove youre mentally capable with handling the lives of the general public literally in your hands.
Race tracks only work for race cars. Passenger vehicles, although some are really fast , wouldn't be much fun on an actual race track. It's more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car .
My condolences to the families i grew up in this area and its changing drastically and not in a good way, to much traffic to many people, its a mess as is southern ontario its an absolute shame
too many kids think they are playing a video game or on a race track. I don't know how this can be changed because fast cars are a big business and even police and politicians are under pressure to keep quiet. can't blame car companies or media
We definitely need to be more strict and perhaps raise the age limit for young male drivers. Young male drivers are beyond reckless and should be properly educated and taught respect for the road. Nothing beats that exciting high energy and influence of a young man. Speed kills, arrogance kills, but combine them together. Sheesh. My heart out to those affected by this tragedy.
These days, a lot of 25-year-olds act like kids did when I was 15 years old. Not all, but there is a serious lack of maturity so I can't say I disagree with you from a logic standpoint.
@@elim7228 general laugh at the craziness of the whole* day Friday Oct 11th from MY* point of view as driver on the roads. Yes we all see things from our individual point of view... Remember that.
Senseless comment- terms have always had the thoughts it won’t happen to them it is the way the brain works. Had nothing to do with how smart they are. People are mourning this kids have some compassion
How tragic 😢 Speed kills so show this video to your kids so they don’t end up in this situation. Our thoughts are with all the families involved and withe the first responders as well.❤
All the other vehicles failed to remain? I’d imagine they don’t want to get sued for an accident that wasn’t their fault. I’ve seen what that does to lives, and it’s NOT PRETTY. More enforcement, less tragedy. No ID? 🤨 So no licenses then. Car stolen? No parent deserves to get the news they’re getting, but this stinks 😷
My son died In a car accident almost 9 years ago on Robert farrier dr in kitchener ontario he was 24 his friend also died that day he was 19 these young men seem to think they are invincible please take care when driving don't speed, pay attention.😢Prayers for the family's of these young ones 🙏 😢
