I've watched a ton of guitar teachers on RU-vid and the only one that can hold my interest long enough for a 20 minute video is Steve Stine. God Bless you, double-S.
Thanks Steve, I started playing when I was 13, have never got any better since I was 16, I am now 63. You have opened my eyes to the theory behind music in a personable, easily understood way. I love your laid back presentation. Brilliant.
When someone asking me whos my teacher.. I said.. "Steve stain" 😁😁 Thx for the wonderful class.. Ive been improved alot after watching your lesson.. Million thanks..
Steve Stine is a greatest teacher I ever had. He explains a step by step technique very clearly and is very easy for a beginner like me to understand all the chords. Thank you very much Steve. I would give you five star score and will share it to social media so that more people can learn gitar from your channel. God bless you and family.
I've seen plenty of videos stating that I should be connecting the solo to the underlying chords, but having Steve explain it in this way and breaking the thought process down like this is really inspirational. Using this same process it would be great to see a well known solo broken down to see how the target notes are relating to the chords. Great work Steve, Thanks.
Steve has taught me an incredible amount of proper lick phrases! He's my favorite guitarist of all time! He and vivian campbell should make some songs together! Steve is teaching us for free!! Ive been playing alot of years and he gives us all these free lessons God bless you steve!

After watching tons of video lessons made by youtubers instead of teachers I finally found your videos, and they are so clear and useful that made me want to practice a bit more everyday. Beyond that, Your pronunciation and your way to explain make it easy to understand to people whose first language isn't English. Thanks a lot! Keep making these awesome videos!
So impressed with all you do. As an older player, I find that your teaching style and knowledge is inspiring. Keep that passion rolling. It is contagious. God bless.
I saw this video again and it stunned me. It reminds me when I was working as Field Engineer in Schlumberger, my instructor told me that 70% of your job is "planning". Yes, planning before the job actually starts. So, less surprises when the job actually takes place. Same as your message. Thank you Steve.
I am learning guitar!! Steve really makes sure that you will learn from the basic stuff and he really emphasize on practice but at the same time he always say to have fun! Continue teaching.. Great Teacher Stine. Man, I wish I can afford an electric Guitar.. Thats my next target.. I ❤ you steve, luv you guys! Stay safe and clean!! 🤘🤘
Steve, always thought that playing solos was such a difficult thing to do but watching your lessons really makes me feel like practicing everything you show. Let me tell you that you are an excellent teacher as well as a musician. Thanks a lot!
I have been playing guitar for over 30 years, I am a guy that plays at home and rarely plays with others, largely due to fear of not being good enough. I have had lessons several times over the years....your approach is awesome...just enough theory and pragmatic thinking to make this not only easy to understand but inspiring...you have a gift as a teacher...I am hooked...
This video lesson is one of the best I've seen (even by Steve). It helps de-mystify what the pros are doing when they're moving around the fretboard, makes it understandable, and most importantly teaches why each of these things (scales, alternate chord fingerings, CAGED, etc.) is worth studying. It is the perfect mix of theory with fun needed to inspire beginners. Thanks!
Steve... your the best guitar teacher ever... I've been playing guitar for fifty four years and never took a lesson, but then I got to see one of YOUR videos about a year ago and have been watching ever since... thanks so much for sharing your experience and knowledge and wisdom... your a natural born MUSICIAN & Guitar player...
Stevie, you are the man. I've never ever thought about stuff like this. This was so helpful. You should start showing the way you think more start showing what you would do in some tricky situations you're da man. Thankyou very much for your videos!
Steve You are my new instructor . I stuck it out with a instructor for 15 years. learned so much from You in so little time it`s just is crazy good . The other guy well he just faded away. Thank You .
one of the best youtube videos about guitar i have seen. After watching this I finally understand why is so important to learn triads all over the fretboard, seeing them superposed to the scales can really help to see on which notes to land on each chord that is being played. Thanks so much for this Steve !
"Dangling from the cliff" .... oh yes, I know that feeling. Trouble is, I'm just sitting on my couch at the time! Brilliantly friendly, clear and helpful tutorial. Also good to hear an overdriven guitar that actually sounds clear and musical. Great stuff.
"We spend a lot of time, hoping that we land on the right notes on the right time" - yup ... that's me :) Already feels like I just found my teacher! You speaking the way I think and asking questions out my head, and Im here for the answers! Great content, I love your style

Steve , I have been sticking with you for years. thanks for your passionate and relatable teachings. I have grown by leaps and bounds thanks to your very giving and tireless efforts. I wish you all the best on your channel and I will keep watching.
Steve I have to thank you for what you do. I'm a old man who has loved guitar my whole life and never could get on it on my own . Your the best teacher For me Thank you
Ive been studying theory for about a year , which is a drop in the bucket and it just clicked on following the chord triad notes as the chords change to drive melody , like a flood light went off , steves teaching approach is awesome
When I'm sober and have my guitar in my hands. I'm definitely coming back. Finally someone who explains shit easily (so far, you have a lot of videos for me to watch yet!!)
@@darrelparrish4384 I totally understand and will agree with you about it, he would notice quite a difference being sober. I hope he takes these words for better luck with his guitar playing while sober, party afterwards of practicing. I don't prefer to myself, I can't think when I need to!
what I love about SS, is his direct, no waffle approach where theory and practical are simplified to the nth degree. Great for beginners and intermediate and... an awesome teacher. Rock on Steve and many thanks.

Whether you know your music/guitar theory or not, learning how to "see" the fretboard's chords and scales and how they interact is essential to understand how to create melody in your guitar soloing. This is the first step, needless to say the learning and education keeps going, but learning how to make that first connection is really important to your guitar playing success. Learning to visualize your fretboard with guitar chords AND scales will continue to open up opportunities for more creative guitar solos, so stick to it and don't give up!
I have never seen a guitar instructor like Steve . He is truly the one who knows how to teach . One thing I wish Steve could do is to show the chords/scales as he plays on the top right so we know more what Steve is playing and especially with the dots on the strings Steve plays. That would be completely perfect .
Steve, I have been watching your videos for some time now and I want you to know that I really find your style excellent. You go through the time to help us see things in real basic terms and I appreciate that. Please keep it coming.
For years i have been trying to understand the correlation between scales & chords. This has been a major revelation. Thanks so much Steve. Fantastic video.
thank you! you have such a talent for breaking things down and ELI5 them with just the right amount of demonstration. i have watched so many videos on how to play over chords but yours was the first that clicked. ❤
I have tried to guitar lessons from many instructors on RU-vid and must say that Steve Stine is the King in my opinion. There are very good lessons all across RU-vid by multiple instructors, but for me, Steve is the easiest to follow along with. He is incredible at breaking down complex to simple for me. He stays on point with his lessons and doesn't drift off the main focus and into complex details.
Subscribed whiles ago as well as other YTer teachers and the other day this vid and 2 others of yours clicked and you are now my path brother. I learned to read music playing trumpet, playing in church, dixie, jazz and dance bands from 10 to 18 years old. I bought a guitar at 16 and started playing CCR 3 chord rhythm with a friend. Moved into a dorm post HS with my guitar and between school and surfing - played very little. FWD many years, jammed with musicians much better than I. Best lesson learned: Practice 20 minutes a day (just to stay at your current expertise.) Got solid on Am P but didn't do the 20 mins/day practice. Now, thanx much in part to your lessons I can feel it. A great teacher is defined by his ability to teach at a level that his students feel it and are not intimidated by heavy doses of "I am smarter than you so shut up and listen" attitude with all kinds of technical mumbo jumbo. (not criticizing other teachers here on YT, there are a lot of you like Steve) At first I thought woah this dude (you) is into heavy fast rock by your intros and I got intimidated but I came back to you with this vid, 6 note leads and another and it just clicked. My best advice to others would be to start off with a reasonably priced guitar and learn from Steve with his beginner lessons which he makes fun by getting you going with a combination of skills but balanced with easy chords and leads to quickly see that learning guitar can be fun from the beginning. But remember, be ready to put in that minimum of 20 minutes a day practice. If you watch TV 20 minutes a day, grab your guitar and practice your scales and build up your speed. If you are committed you will know when it's time to invest in that neat guitar you dream of buying. It is working for me and I am in my late 60s and hopefully I will be picking up my dream guitar. Being classically trained I have found that a lot of my buddies are not and play by ear and that is a goal of mine now. Rock on!
Thank you for providing hands-on glimpses into musical connectivity. Another proof of the significance of music theory in the creative process! Many thanks, Steve!
This is gold. The way you break down the chord, then experiment with finding the notes to target, then build the fills. I'm gonna work with this method. Thanks
I have watched this video more than 100 times. Every time I watched I discovered something new and organized my understanding and actual application. I’m still moving around the pentatonic scale on the fretboard, but I’m developing the logical connection between pentatonic and the major scale of whatever the key of. I had been stuck, but this video sheds some light on the path. Thank you Steve!
Steve... thank you man. You've not only broken down and demystified soloing for me but reinvigorated my enthusiasm to practice and play more. Blessings...:-)
I've been playing guitar off and on for years, and this finally makes sense! You'd think everyone would figure this out eventually, but its what nobody bothers to explain when they solo. Thank you
You helped me figure out how to play the pentatonic scale and now you helped me figure out how to make it sound right. Thank you Steve!! Your videos are a big help.
Steve...exceptionally good skills, both in musical knowledge but maybe more importantly, communication. You've got a gift for simplifying concepts and sharing them in a way that is helpful, functional and doesn't make the viewer / listener feel like they could never get it down. Your eye contact with the camera makes one feel like your really talking to a person. Well done!
One of the best lessons I've seen.. totally useful and broken down into bite sized chunks before moving on to the next stage. This really helps, thanks for explaining it so well !
Guitar playing is so tricky, im 60 and have been learning electric guitar for about 4 years, i like the sound of a 4 piece, live metal band, crue, dokken, so i play with a loop pedal, and never solo with a rhythm guitar, its a cop out i know, i just like how its done, jak e lee was one of my heroes live. Great video.
Steve you have the best way of explaining and conveying these lessons. I have been at a learning standstill and your lessons have gotten me back into actually learning the instrument instead of just playing it. Thankyou for everything and I hope all the best for you - Frasier Osland
i've been playing guitar for like... 15 years... and nobody could ever get through to me about music theory and how to effectively solo.... (strong as hell rhythm player tho loll) but then I found this guy.... dude in just a days worth of videos, i've improved by years already.... I'm really glad I came across your videos.
Thank you! Your example is very helpful. I am going to use my Loop Station to put together the C, G, Am & F backing track and practice these suggestions. I do believe your videos are the best instructional videos. This example in particular is right about where I am at with scales and trying to be more melodic instead of sounding like I am just running through scales. I'm just an old guy playing in my basement for fun. Thanks again!
