Thanks Jerome, yes that’s what I was hoping for a real serious look at how the iPad worked as my only device, rather than looking at specs which really doesn’t tell the whole story especially if you want to use it for work and editing et cetera. Appreciate the comment.
I think everyone keeps forgetting that the ipad is a large iPhone. IPhone supports external monitors, mice, keyboards too. You can argue all you want, but every single reviewer and user of the new iPad m4 all say the same thing (self included). Amazing device, powerful processor, all wasted because iPadOS utilizes no more of the hardware than an iPhone. For some people that works perfectly. For others a Mac is still a must, but it's soooo painful, because the iPad CAN be a perfect machine. It's powerful, can handle all mac apps, the form factor, battery life, the screen; one can argue better than the macbook air maybe even macbook pro. So no, don't tell people if they just prepare, pre-print, upload everything they have and hope to god they dont forget anything, it's just not a device that can replace a macbook, YET.
@@ktm_im Yes I tend to a agree with you, it's a lovely device, but it shouldn't be pitched as a £1200 laptop. In my opinion, iPad was best when it say at $500 as a middle device
@@editorskeysthat’s still the bulk of iPads sold to be fair. Maybe slightly more now with the newest Airs. The M1 and M2 Air can do everything the M1/2/3/4 iPad Pro can do.
I currently have iPad Pro 10.5” 2017 and planning on upgrade soon. Which one to buy, iPad Air M2 13” or iPad Pro M4 11”? Considering the price is similar for the 256gb storage (approx. $1000) and I still need to buy apple pencil as well. I am using it for media & note taking. For heavy use, I still have MBP M1 16 inch
It's good to see more of these experiments with iPads because it's clear there's a need and a demand for Apple to provision A LOT more functionality in iPadOS especially for the "Pro" line-up. The limitations are a mixed bag of original OS restrictions, deliberate limited or bread-crumb addition at a slow pace feature development (desktop features) and even borderline self-sabotage restrictions imposed by Apple. I completely agree with the better solution for a portable but viewable device on the go for the iPad only with case to be taken and not take the Magic Keyboard which is too heavy and use a spare monitor/keyboard at the work place. Additional to this, if you left your Macbook Pro on at home, install Remote Desktop software on it and the iPad you can always then log into your macbook via internet from your iPad and in effect work with MacOS instead of all the many annoyances and weaknesses of iPadOS. Some of the better software even including "Remote Print" and support external monitor and keyboard too. The real let down is in that scenario is the power within the iPad itself locked behind iPadOS and unavailable (using external hardware resources). No need to buy the top of the line Pro line in that case.
Jump Desktop will really help to do the things (except printing) you would use a macbook for. I have my macbook connected to a big monitor, and use my iPad for everything when I'm not at the office. If I run into something I can't do on the iPad, I just remotely login to my macbook at the office. I've found that jump desktop does this superbly.
I’ve never had an issue printing anything using the share sheet. You can sometimes get better options sharing to markup and printing from there. You had issues with gmail on the web? Adding the account to Mail will allow you to circumvent any weird web issues, or even try the gmail app instead. I’m not a huge fan of google services.
So really what you did was proof that the iPad is not a computer. Clearly purchasing a MacBook Air would be a better solution for travelling with the iPad is a great single person‘s device and a device for somebody who wants to consume content for that. It is brilliant.
It really is a computer, just with a more constrained yet stealthier operating system. Nice job trying to box it into just a content consumption device though.
Hey, one thing, I have a development agency for Shopify and I can access and add blocks to sections on my iPad Pro M4 with no issues. Strange that you cannot. I’ve been working from my iPad only for the past days, and it’s actually doable. Some limitations but I’ll take them over lugging around my MacBook Pro m3 pro.
So you commute , whats the costing between newquay and manchester. I think the Ipad just for the odd day , and the as a travel compaion its good test. But maybe you should of used the IPAD Pro , since its meant for edits.
Hey so I only got up every couple of months, but when I do I get the flight which is about £55 each way. Train is very expensive, and car would cost about £150
Keep your Mac or PC turned on and online at home and connect to it via VNC or RDP, that way you can enjoy small form factor while having access to a full-blown operating systems. I use 11 inch iPad Pro this way for years accessing both my MacBook Pro at home and working PC at the office. No need to struggle with heavily limited iPadOS.
@@editorskeysif connecting to Mac or PC then Jump Desktop is a good one. Another is called “Screens” When connecting to Windows, RDP offers the best experience IMO (But it takes more work to setup in a secure way than one of the products mentioned above)
as a sales, iPad Pro + Magic Keyboard can only light up my brief case, so I don't have to carry clumsy MacBook 🥴 magic keyboard helps me to reply emails and type some easy word, excel documents, that helpful enough for me! Cuz in my office, I have Mac to nail my job! Also its a beautiful display to demonstrate products to my client, this is the best part I love! maybe tis product really depends on how you use it, and your work flow, if workers rely on very professional apps or software, then iPad isn't the right tools for them to go! in my using experience, light office work and interaction with people is the biggest advantage from this lovely tech! 😌
@@editorskeyshalo, I don’t know how shorten music track, every time when I do it from the end of clip, it cut start of music and end of music moving towards to this new end. But I will preserve the beginning of music and than new end fade out. In video track it work fine as in every editing software, what you short from the end or the start it cut out, with music here for some reason stupidy not. I have use music track from content soundtracks directly in fcpip2. Thank.
IMO, it depend on software, is there any existing ipad software that can do you task on ipad pro? You may need change you workflow on ipad, but the trade off is the light weight of ipad. Thanks apple to bring this powerful ipad that can do photo editing, video editing on this tiny machine, althought it is not as perfect as macOS, but the trend is it.
Some of the things you’ve stated leads me to believe there are some other issues than the iPad. For instance that old mouse, when I use the Apple Magic Mouse with my iPad I don’t have the issue you described… Just sayin
Sorry what issues, the mouse seemed to work ok to be honest, I switch to a different mouse (forgot to mention that in the video, but you can see a logitech one)
To be honest, editing videos in MacBook feels a lot PRO & better than doing editing on a ipad . Hence i use iPad only as a tablet but not as MacBook replacement . For serious works i use MacBook .
I’ve tried once n failed terribly…in fact its impossible to replace even the basic macbook air when it comes to use microsoft office~ don’t ever try guys u would regret it…i sold my macbook n rely on my ipad pro m1, lag as hell when using simple apps like word n excel~ i need to close n reopened every like 10 times just to finish doing my task of about 5 pages…importing n resizing 5 photos is like pain in the ass~ not to mention the glitch, don’t believe what the reviewer would tell u cause in reality it sucks…just buy ipad mini for browsing n use ur macbook air to handle work, trust me… 😂
Yes I agree and I think now an iPad Pro with keyboard is more expensive than a M3 MacBook Air... why would you want the iPad. It actually weighs more too with all the accessories
