Congrats on your weight loss already! You are doing awesome. I can drink liquids pretty well. If I try to chug some water, then I get in trouble, but other than that, I can drink as much as I want. I don't feel full as much as I just feel uncomfortable pressure. It is much different than before my VSG. Also, make sure you are eating slowly because even with your smaller stomach, it still take a bit for your stomach to tell your brain to stop eating. Also, don't be shocked if next week the weight loss has slowed as week 2-3 usually people pull back a bit, but it will pick back up after that.

Hi friend! I’ve been lagging on commenting, but you’ve been on my mind! I’m so excited for you, you’re doing great so far. That is so exciting to be out of the 300s I always go by my at home scale, no matter what. I’m wondering why they did the nerve block when you were awake? I’ve had a lot of surgeries, and they’ve always done nerve blocks after I was under anesthesia. I don’t think I had a nerve block though for this surgery. I don’t remember feeling a lot of restriction in the beginning, but I didn’t have an appetite. I was never hungry. All of the nerves in your tummy are cut, so it’s hard to feel the sensation of feeling full until you’re all healed.

Wow! 14 lbs in a week is amazing. Took me a month. I'm losing very very slow. 6 weeks, and 20 lbs. *shrugs* As for being full, I asked my nutritionist the same thing. She said burping, runny nose, and something else I forget. But you are doing great.

Happy 1 Week, Daniel! It's ON now! :) Can't believe you lost 14 lbs. in the first week and hit the 200's. That's a huge milestone. How do you like the caramel premier proteins? I loved them before surgery but not so much after. That white chocolate sugar free pudding looked amazing though! Don't worry too much about restriction now. Just weigh out and do what the doctor says and follow your plan. Those liquids aren't very filling so it's so confusing at the beginning because you're not hungry and you don't really know what full means. Sounds like you discovered your "full" clue. The burp is so common for many. Some people hiccup, others yawn. It's your body telling you, you're full. What an NSV to have you cast become loose in the first week. I love that observance. Wishing you the best with your hand at your follow up appointment. :)

I really like the caramel shakes. I hadn't tried them before surgery. But since I can't drink my vanilla powder now I bought those. The pudding is really good. I am so excited I'm already in the 200's but I'm sure I will stall for a bit loosing that much already so fast.

I’m so far behind. You look fabulous! I’m so glad you’re doing well. Wow you can drink a whole protein drink? Your belly looks fine. Mine looked all bruised when I had mine. I’m so sorry you had the dry heaves and nausea. That’s awful. I just ordered premier protein shakes so they better be good like you all say they are. You must be missing doing your blanket projects. I just never feel hungry and I have to make myself eat. Then when I eat, it takes very little and I am no longer hungry. My stomach starts making noise. And I don’t wanna eat anymore. I’m so excited to follow your journey. You’re gonna drop the pounds quick! Much love.

I've heard a lot of people say their bellies we're bruised. I think it has to do with having it done with the robot but I'm not sure. I am slowly starting to feel a little fullness from protein shakes but I can still drink a whole one in like 10 minutes.

You have one more "hole" than me and now, I can only find 4 in my tummy. Can't remember for the life of me where the 5th one was. It takes some time to get up to speed on protein. You are doing great if you are that close to getting your protein in. Liquids will not give you the feeling of fullness that more solid foods will. Now, I could not and still cannot drink a whole protein drink that quickly although I can get 2/3 (or so) of a bottle of water down that quickly. (I take medicine for IBS and you have to get at least a cup down right away.) To find full, you are going to need to slow way down to actually feel "full". It takes a bit for the message to get to the brain and if you continue to eat too fast, you will cause yourself major pain down the road when you get to denser foods. Believe me, today, I was ticked off and angry and could have spit nails and so when I ate my lunch, it was way too fast and my tummy has hurt, hurt, hurt all afternoon. Think I would have learned by now!!! Some WLS patients do burp or hiccup when they are full (usually too full unfortunately) and it could also be caused by swelling in your tummy. The reason it happens is that one of your 12 cranial nerves called the vagus nerve runs all over (longest cranial nerve in the body) including by your stomach and the nerve will prompt burping and hiccupping (or with me spasms, weird spasms) and happens when your tummy gets full.

OMGosh what an amazing loss in a week! lol I GAINED that first week from all the fluids they pumped in me in the hospital haha. Took me TWO WEEKS to lose that weight too lol. You're only 1 week in and you're already killing it ^.^ I'm tellin ya, this is just the beginning :D Protein is really hard to get in in the beginning. All of this is normal and part of the process. You're right it will get easier to get that extra protein when you actually start eating. LOL welcome to the losers bench my friend hahahahaha The whole TASTEBUDS thing changing near immediately after surgery is REAL lol. Things we used to love, we wont like anymore....and things we hated we might end up loving now LOL. It's still happening to me at 8 months out. I know I am full when I either burp or hiccup. It's not a full on repetitive type hiccup that wont go away, but its like a hiccup burp lol. Just 1 or 2 hiccup burps. But I DO feel the fullness to the point I would get sick if I tried to fit more in. In the beginning I was NEVER hungry... I ate only because I knew I needed to. I literally set alarms on my phone to remind me to eat and drink lol. Cause I would have been perfectly fine never eating again lol. But anyways, you're really doing awesome already and I am so very happy for you! You seriously already look like you've lost! Start taking measurements NOWWWWW lol. Document it ALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!
