Great video 👍 you handled dropping that frame beautifully. Last time I did that, I dropped the F bomb. So glad she was ok and still on the frame. Such sweet lovely girls 🐝💜✌️

Without prejudice - some suggestions for this hive to improve/increase/survive . . . I consider that this hive requires at least one full frame of honey or needs to be fed sugar syrup. 1 sugar to 1.5 water to simulate nectar. It takes one frame of honey to make one frame of broood plus pollen. You mentioned that there are a lot of eggs and for these eggs to increase to larvae, a lot of nectar, honey or sugar syrup is required. Otherwise the hive will go backwards. Regarding frames that do not have foundation on them - it takes approximately 7 pounds of honey with plenty of nurse Bees to produce 1 pound of wax (old scale).

They are a 1 week old swarm. Full of nectar ready to deposit. That’s why I left two empty frames. They have been busy on a flow so I think they will be fine.

@beetek0903 Are you suggesting that a frame with plastic foundation gives the bees an advantage over an open frame with a starter strip? I would argue that the amount of wax on the foundation is insignificant, especially compared to the amount in the starter strip. In my experience, when you place an open frame next to a foundation frame the bees will draw the open frame first.
