#32 ~ We’ve been living in our van for one whole year, and it’s the end of 2020. What a year!!!
This year was definitely not what we expected, and our idea of van living and how we’re travelling Australia has changed a lot since we first began.
But we’ve also had some awesome experiences, been to a lot of great places, met some of the coolest people and we’ve learned a lot!
A MASSIVE thank you for supporting us and following our journey here on RU-vid! Documenting our life and sharing our videos for the world to see has been a new world for us and we're not stopping anytime soon.
We’re really only just getting started, who knows, maybe next year we’ll actually get to another state in Australia? haha

We are a family of four living in our caravan nomading and touring around Australia offgrid only.
We've sold our house and most of our belongings to live a life of freedom, minimising our environmental footprint and to simplify our lifestyle.
We aren't bound by a time frame and are happy just floating with the breeze (hence our name No Moss Nomads inspired by the proverb 'A rolling stone gathers no moss).
We want to park our home on wheels at a destination and let fate do the rest!

Long time watcher here and first time commenter for your channel. First off......I love you guys!!! It has been awazing watching your family and your vanlife evolving over the past year. Hubby and I have loved watching your slow travel around Qld. Quality content does not have to be about rushing from place to place seeking new content. We all create our own experiences where ever we are and as we move through this life every second we exist ad immersing yourself in the moment. It just takes skill to communicate that story as we see it individually. It is not always about the destination, the true stories can lie waiting to be discovered in the journey.... Leo has grown so much!!!! It was so delightful to watch his sheer joy at receiving his first fishing rod and catching his first fish....and in the so weather appropriate gumboots! Too cute. Both Leo and Brax have changed over the course of this past year of your van travels. Cooking segments...yes please. We love watching cooking on the road! I have no idea why it is of so much interest, but it works. Your videos are beautiful to watch and the combination of talking to the camera and voiceover is well balanced and nicely executed. You both engage well with the camera and more confident and relaxed in front of it as your travel continues. Thank you so much for sharing your travels, with a sense of humour and an ever present sense of keeping your footprint small. Stay safe and have a brilliant 2021.

BEST video to date yet Guys. Watching Leo reel in his first fish brought tears to my eyes. And then watching him stack fire wood, what a real little man. Reminds me of my Grandson! All the best for what 2021 brings you & enjoy your continued travels.

I love camping cooking videos. They teach me so much how others do it. Wife bought me the Women's Weekly Camping Cook Book for Christmas. Think it has been written someone who has never been off grid camping.

Hey guys! I just discovered your channel and it looks awesome. In fact I think it will become my QLD reference for that state (I'm from Victoria). Could I ask some questions re your set up please (you may have done a post on it but I have not as yet seen it). 1) Isyour caravan an off road one? What brand/model is it? 2) From what I can see your caravan tyres are not AT ie All terrain. Do you find that an issue when driving on beach sand? 3) How about your car? Other than that enjoy the trips and stay safe

Hey guys just a little bit more data for your viewers. The fridge you have, as pointed out by you runs mst efficiently on gas as it is an absorption fridge. A note of warning about using it on 12v battery: the dc voltage is 275v. This means it will draw 20+ amps. In fact data from the Dometic website says 400ah per day. Therefore, a couple of hours is okay but more may be too much on your battery bank. If your viewers are considering using bigger and better electrics an alternative way is to request the visually identical compressor version if buying new (our caravan manufacturer does this by default). Negatives are that it is noisier when running and that you can't use gas znd initial purchase cost is about $100 more. Positives are that when it is running on 12v it consumes 70ah per day. Fridge will get to 4 degrees from 35 degrees on 12v in 3 hours. Your car battery feeding through zn anderson will run the fridge if you have no sunshine. Side by side for comparison Absorption. Compressor. 240v 5kwh per day. 240v 1.05kwh per day 12v 400ah per day. 12v 70ah per day. Lpg 500g per day. N/a With a decent solar system of 800+watts and 400w li po storage only a compressor fridge could be run on 12v indefinitely.
@NoMossNomads
@NoMossNomads 3 года назад
Hey Wayne cheers for the info mate. The fridge draws around 20 amps on DC your right. We have run it all day without an issue in dc power supply and that’s with a 200amp lithium battery and 760w of solar going through a 45 amp charger. As long as solar is pumping we can run the fridge and charge the battery. We didn’t have the option when purchasing our van to change the fridge nor did I know much about absorption fridges back then. Would definitely recommend the compressor fridge though granted the power system is sufficient 👍🏽

Hi, how would you like a little hack. Look in op shop for sodastream. Then get an adapter online. Then buy co2 tank. Then you will find that the gas is cheap. As chips. Now you got bubbling iced tea in your fridge. I mounting mine in the canopy. Russell

When you do a Q&A I would like to ask when I tell my mum abut living in a caravan full time just me and my dog Jack Russell cross Maltese mum said you can’t stay in one place for very long it better to have a Caravan and a home to come back to question: what’s your thoughts on that to me and other people as well want to living in the caravan full time do you constantly have to move all the time If you are just free camping & doing affordable caravan parks not on the peak season If you don’t have land to Live on with your caravan. question 2: maintenance on your caravan and car 4wd it would where out quicker as you are using it every day so maintenance would add up if you can’t fix it yourself. Question 3: tell us abut fuel bill if you drive every day for hundreds of kilometres it would chew up the budget quickly you thoughts on that hope to hear what you have to say abut my question 🙋‍♀️
