When I was in my 20’s my buddy and i both had C2 1960’s Corvettes and our dream was to get a Ferrari. 40 years later i’ve owned 8 Corvettes 3 Z06’s. And i will never buy a Ferrari. There’s no need to spend $300K for less performance. Corvette rules now.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Justin i uploaded a couple videos of me racing this year at the Nevada Silver State Classic. I raced my 2021 C8 Z51 HTC. Did 152 in the all out mile and took 2nd place in my class in the 120 mile open road race. I was in the 125 mph class but hit 140 plus on Nevada state highway 93. They close the road down. We had about 120 cars race I think. It’s a blast it’s billed as the fasted race in the world that anybody can do. No professional race car drivers allowed. The record was set by a guy that brings a modified NASCAR. 220 MPH average and he gets up to 240 MPH !!!!!
People don’t buy Ferraris just for performance. They buy it for status. Someone with a Ferrari is going to be taken way more seriously than someone with a C8
@@kdme1657 That may be true but Ferraris are overpriced and cost too much to maintain. Corvettes are much better performance for the cost and depending on what generation you have, owners can work on them. An oil change for my C8 with transmission fluid change and new filters cost $400. You can’t change the windshield wipers on a Ferrari for $400. My status is I own 5 Corvettes and 3 of them are Z06’s.
AMERICA is doing it right. I've always loved exotics, espcially the italians and german cars. But I knew with how much they costed I could never buy one. But I always had my eyes on the Corvette C7 with its power and looks. But now I can proudly say I'm a proud american and LOVE the Z06 C8!
One thing I’m impressed with on my 24’Z06 is the cooling. Driving home on I-75 in Florida can get the temp up to 208 in traffic but as soon as it opens up, it drops 40 degrees to a cool 168 in like 2 minutes! GM learned from the C7 and those 5 radiators really keep the car cool in Florida driving!🇺🇸
Thats very impressive for a high compression high revving race engine. Theres gotta be a vid out there explaining in technical detail how the cooling system works - even in hot temps. And theres plenty of that here in houston -where its hot n humid. 100⁰+ during the day and high 80⁰s+ at night
@@blackice7408 when the car is moving, the oil temps are routinely below 170. We don’t hit 100 in Tampa, but it’s been warm lately and no issues with temps whatsoever.
Hey just kinda curious, what do you do for a living if you dont mind me asking? Ive been trying to budget and figure out what is a good income/amount to set aside monthly to afford something like this. I know its a little personal, but would be such a huge help for my future budgeting towards this beauty!
@@itzzzdolphin I’m a plant manager for an oil company in Tampa. I’ve been with the company 25 years so the pay is good. I also sold a house in south Florida before coming here and was able to put some money down as well. I also traded in a 16 Z06 as well so that helped. Mine is a 1lz and the only options are red calipers, seat belts and intake. Some day I’ll add the bits to look like Justin’s beast🤣
@@boblivingston4841Gonna be a tough decision for sure! I knew a GT3 would be my next car but was wondering if I should try a Vette. I guess I need to drive both first!
I have the GT3, and the Z06…I like them both…they are different The Z06 would be my choice for the longer drive…more comfy (actually)…and it’s a convertible…. The Z06 is BIGGER..and you feel it. It feels kinda like a boat. It does sound better….a great care. AND…you can get one My 992 GT3….Porsche did it so well…..it’s such a refined car. It instills confidence when you drive. Feels more nimble, comes in manual (which I have). Doesn’t sound better at start up….but when screaming at 9,000 RPM….the mechanical sign is intoxicating. Plus….good like trying to get one….its hard I love them both….but the GT3 is a better car
People here in germany are telling, that the c 8 z06 starts at 100K in the US. Thats without taxes, right? Here in Germany the c8 z06 begins at 185K Euros and everybody talks about how cheap it would be in USA. The build quality in the interior is outstanding. Not worse than german cars. Years ago this was very different and we in germany always complained about the interior. Outstanding car. Also interesting that there exists no official acceleration data. In Germany the c8 zo6 was measured 2,7 seconds 0-100 kmh (0-60 milies/hour) und 6,7 seconds 100-200 kmh (60-130 miles/hour). Thats inside. Lap times also very good. With special options people are paying over 200K for this car in germany and I think its worth it compared to Porsche GT3s, Ferraris and Lamborghinis.
Yup. Again, in the north east, where I live, you can only drive a car like this 4 to 5 months out of the entire year so that mileage is a lot for that amount of time.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Depends on who you talk to I guess. I live in Scandinavia. Plenty of people here put more km on their cars in the same time. I put 12k km on an 812 in 2½ months.
@HorsePowerObsessed Amazing car but more importantly, exquisite spec - such an insanely awesome car. Appreciate you sharing your perspective on this beast of a machine!
Do the carbon ceramics need heat in them to start biting? IIRC this car is brake by wire, can you even tell by pedal feel if the brakes are up to temp?
Justin: Chuck Metz who is the Corvette Tech Specialist for Coughlin Chevrolet in Pataskala Ohio. He works with Rick Conti and if anyone knows the Z06 it would be him 😊
I think GM wanted this to be best quality Corvette ever, I’m sure that was a mission statement. Tadge the executive chief engineer, that just retired, made sure of that. I’m pretty sure we did get one of the best quality built Vette ever. Great review from a real owner. Cheers bub
I was just at Lime Rock, CT on Ferrari day. A lone mid-engined Corvette in the crowd...and to my surprise, held his own with the Ferraris. Just amazing. Keep up the good work Chevy!
Well, you really did a great job on your mods, probably the most beautiful Z06 I’ve ever seen. You’ve turned it into a functional piece of art huge thumbs up, buddy.
I would "assume" the dealer's charging over MSRP nowadays are few. Even in California it "seems" dealers are getting very close or at MSRP even on the Z06. It still isn't a "can get any day of the week" car, but the days of huge premiums appear to be few. But then again, I haven't actually gone through the process either. We all know how dealers talk one game and change up when bringing out the paperwork.
Correct. On the east coast there are plenty of dealers selling nicely spec’d Z06s for MSRP. And even some lightly used ones selling for under sticker. There’s actually a Facebook group dedicated to tracking and locating under MSRP or lower C8 Z06s.
MY E-RAY...With STANDARD CERAMIC BRAKES, will kick your azz, up to 100mph...I dont care about going faster than that...bc YOU'LL GET A VISIT FROM FHP, REAL QUICK!! G.M.s fit & finish...leaves MUCH TO BE DESIRED. THEY NEED TO RE-CALIBRATE THEIR ROBOTS, putting body panels together...Quality controls & CONSTRAINTS...SUCK!!
Your friend is right. The Vette looks more exotic than the Italian counter part…. not sure who’s in charge of design over there, but the new Ferraris looks like NPC characters in a TRON movie
The Corvette C8 Z06 is more than just a car; it's a symphony on wheels. With its naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8 flat-plane crank, every press of the accelerator unleashes a melody of pure power. At 670 horsepower, this masterpiece sings like no other, resonating through the soul of every driver who dares to experience its raw, untamed potential. Each note from the exhaust is a reminder that the Corvette C8 Z06 is not just about speed-it's about the art of performance, where engineering and passion collide in perfect harmony.
Justin, Damn man your car always looks and sounds 🔥🔥🔥 I'll see your measley 6000 miles and raise you to 7200 miles ...Blah ha ha 😂 Olivia and I are starting our Route 66 trip tomorrow so we'll be adding another 6000 miles by July 🇺🇲 🦅 380 👍 Currently -Shane
I live north of BG in Kentucky. Did you see another black Z06 there? I didn’t go but I saw one with red racing stripes on top leaving out North on 65 from that bash? It was like yours but with red stripes.
Hello from Germany. Your video is great because it proves once again that it takes a lot of small components to make a standard car look even better. It's the many little things that make your Corvette look even better. It's my absolute dream car at the moment. But we really have trouble getting one here in Germany. And I also think it's great that you've linked all the components. There aren't any rims like that here. Amazing
Thank you very much! I really appreciate the kind words. If you need help locating anything just let me know! Horse.Power.Obsessed@gmail.com is the best way to contact me.
I only would to prepare for the zr1. It would be higher than msrp because of the fact I have over 60k into it. If you’re interested, send me an email. horse.power.obsessed@gmail.com
Back in the 90s when I had my ZR1 in Ft Lauderdale it was the same thing, nobody outside my local independent Chevy dealer knew how to deal with the 32 valve engine. Corvette used to have a competition every year for Corvette mechanics and the winner wins a base model Corvette that generally focused on the most complicated model, ZR-1 C06, find one of those winners. Any good Corvette dealership should be able to do a factory 4 wheel alignment, but after some autocross with a friend who had a similar ZR1 I go to an independent alignment shop with my own set of numbers.
How is the torque of the Z06 compared to the Z51 Stingray for every day driving? If I sell my Stingray and get a Z06, will I be disappointed in the performance when I am not driving the car hard? As a race of a high RPM race car, I know I would love the Z06 on the track and when pushing it hard on the street....just curious...
@@Meldoon1 Thanks. I understand about driving it higher in the rev range when I want experience the engine at its best. I always run my race car up between 6K and 8K RPM. I was wondering what the experience was like during casual driving.
Cross shopping the Stingray with the F-Type and LC 500. Car vs car I think the C8 wins. However I am not sure I can get over the dealership experience compared to the other brands. Trying to see and sit in a C8 has been an unpleasant dealership experience. Forget about test drives. Mean while I have been welcomed to test drive the others. Thanks for your video.
You’re very welcome. GM dealerships do seem to be on the greedy/inexperienced side when it comes to corvettes lately so I understand the hesitation. With that said, I wouldn’t change the car I bought for anything other than a C8 ZR1! 👍👍
LOL at approx 2:38, revs the engine and a good-sized puff of black smoke blasts out. Plugs carboned up from chugging the engine along too much. Simple solution: let the engine do what it's meant to do, perform.
Thank you for a great review. Coincidentally I own the C8 Z06 with 3200 miles, a C7 ZR1 and C7 manual Z51. The ZR1 is so exciting to drive, the Z06 is calm by comparison. I love the look and edginess of the ZR1, but the comfort, predictability and hardtop convertible of the Z06. At my local dealership, they have a very competent mechanic, however someday I will need to go to the Porsche dealership if there are tire/wheel issues with the exposed carbon fiber wheels.
Americans are very good at making masculine looking muscle cars. I like those type of cars. Outside the US you tend to see more and more small feminine type of cars while the really masculine looking cars have become more rare. Lots of car manufacturers in the world want to sell to both men and women, so they then make their cars more gender neutral. The cars then become neither masculine looking and neither fully feminine looking, but just a bland boring hybrid in the middle. American muscle car brands don't tend to do that. They don't hold back on the masculine design of their cars. And that's why I like them. The Corvette Z06 with Z07 package looks awesome. Would love to own one some day.
If your worried about gas stay away from corvettes or anything regarding as sports car.. If your not going to do maintenance don't expect the car to last you long. This goes to any car, hell even pruis. You want the car to take care of you, you better take care of it.. Basic Knowledge anyone with a brain need to know.
Adjusting the rear caster of the Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06 involves precise work and typically requires specialized tools and knowledge. Here is a general guide on how to adjust the rear caster:Preparation:Tools and Equipment: You will need a car lift or jack and stands, a set of wrenches, a torque wrench, and potentially a caster/camber gauge.Safety: Ensure the car is parked on a flat, level surface. Engage the parking brake and use wheel chocks to secure the vehicle.Steps to Adjust Rear Caster:Lift the Car: Safely lift the car using a car lift or jack and jack stands, ensuring the rear wheels are off the ground.Locate the Suspension Components: Identify the rear suspension components, specifically the control arms and caster adjustment points.Loosen the Bolts: Loosen the bolts on the rear control arms where they connect to the chassis. This might involve both the lower and upper control arms depending on the adjustment design.Adjust the Caster: Adjust the caster angle by either moving the control arms forward or backward. Some vehicles might have eccentric bolts or adjustable arms specifically designed for this purpose.Tighten the Bolts: Once the desired caster angle is achieved, tighten the bolts to the manufacturer’s specified torque settings using a torque wrench.Verify the Adjustment: Lower the vehicle and check the caster angle using a caster/camber gauge. Make fine adjustments as needed.Notes:Professional Alignment: It's often recommended to have a professional alignment shop perform this adjustment to ensure precision. Incorrect adjustments can affect vehicle handling and tire wear.Manufacturer Specifications: Always refer to the specific service manual for the C8 Z06 for precise specifications and procedures, as they may vary slightly.Final Steps:After adjustments, take the car for a test drive to ensure it handles correctly. If unsure or uncomfortable with this process, seek assistance from a professional mechanic or alignment specialist.
Thank you for the review. The time flew by faster than the car. It’s great that you drive your cars. I just get myself to do so. Sold my 93 ZR-1 with 3300 miles on the clock. My 2019 ZR1 already has 3300 miles. I know they’re meant to be driven…
This is definitely a beautiful car!!! BUT I hate when people say the c8 is like a Ferrari. Honestly I think Chevy fkd* up with this new model c8. Especially if there were trying to keep up with a foreign exotic. Bring back that legendary American muscle sound. What in the heck is a Chevy doing sounding like a Ferrari anyway. Make that shit make sense! Honestly it sounds like he would rather have a Ferrari anyway. 150k price tag just don't fit with the name Chevy..
Stop it, the 488 is probably a 17 or 18 and the Z06 is a 23 so yeah that could be the case , did you have a SF90 2023 in your booth ? And let’s take both cars to the wholesale lot and see how much we get for them , then you will remember it’s a Chevy not a real exotic sick of these comparisons let the car stand on its own
I know you have probably addressed this about your rattle....but... some gorilla tape ??? maybe and a loose mirror wire connector or speaker wire connector flapping a little?/.. IDK just a thought from an idiot who has not ever looked inside one of those doors and does not own a car like that. I just suspect a small wiring harness connector taping on the inside of the panel. I know it would drive me bananas, I cant stand stuff like that... nails on a chalkboard is better. :).. But nice car for sure, worthy of Batman.
My 2nd choice would have been Paragon. AWE is always my first choice, though. They consistently sound the best. I didn't partner with them for any other reason than they sound the best.
Don’t know if I could buy a c8. Dealers are horrible at working on them. Chevrolet made big mistake jumping into mid engine platform without thinking about qualified technicians to work on them. Yes some states have several dealers with good techs but they are few.
The good, it’s the best car you have ever owned. The bad, tires and insurance are expensive. The ugly, the center console and taillights still look like crap.
Again, I'll look up when there is a ZR1. Is there really going to be a Zora? (ZR-1) How corny is that? Again with the copying of Ferrari many years later. Ever heard of an Enzo? No
