There’s no need for another travel vlogger doing videos on how beautiful, how quaint, how perfect. I appreciate beautiful images but they don’t give me a feel of what it feels like to be there. I love that you’re a slow traveler and not creating content around an algorithm. I discovered your channel via my interest in Mexico but will watch you wherever you go.

This is my favorite travel channel. Love seeing an upload from you. Thank you for sharing your process but you're doing great 😁 You show us a side that most travel channels don't. It's relaxed, it's not a constant highlight reel, it's curious and open minded. Will keep coming back!

Thank you so much for sharing us your lessons of how you edit your videos, my favorite video was when you visited Bahia Solano in my department of Choco, it was a good one because you took amazing pictures of the whales, the jungle, beaches, and the release of the little turtles to the ocean. I did a video visiting the Arvi park in Medellin, I used my Samsung Galaxy A32 camera. The image quality was good (720p). It took me like an hour editing the video. Your channel is awesome. I discovered your website back in 2017 when I did my first long travel to south east Asia. Ever since I used a lot of your tips and tricks in traveling light and places to visit. Last year I traveled a couple of weeks in Colombia around the same time you did and it was really nice to see some of the same destinations. The combination of footage about nature experiences and surrounding yourself in the real culture of a country / region is what keeps attracting me to your channel. So thank u for all the good stuff so far ✌

Love to watch your video's and your way you think about travelling and filming. I was a videproducers for 25 years and I wished I get help you out in the beginning. I am using your video's now for getting the courage to travel to Colombia and Mexico. Cor from Holland

@@indietraveller super dat je ook Nederlands bent!! I am doing preparations for a first trip to Colombia. I traveled a lot but never to latin America. I am suprised that in your video's you are taking easily buses, taxis, you jump on a motorcycle-taxi, are you never afraid??? I read everywhere: take a Uber then you are sure. It looks so easily.. My question: can I trust on buplic transport and privat motor cycles in the country side? Another thing: I had to smile about your stories about getting older and being on travel. Not going out anymore etc. I became 67 years now and I try to feel the same like you. Take adventures, discover new countries, have a cocktail en enjoy life!!!

Sorry for my delayed reply! I definitely do take care with this in Colombia. I have a strong preference for Ubers over taxis, but I consider the public buses safe overall. Regarding the moto-taxis, in one case this was in a trusted situation near a small peaceful village. In the case of taking one at night, this was a pick-up by a person recommended by my accommodation who collects you from outside the local police station. I suggest taking guidance from the accommodations who will often personally know many of the people involved in the local transport and what is or isn't safe. I wouldn't worry too much about public buses that go between bus stations that are generally very well-secured. Glad you can relate to my video even though I must still appear young to your eyes 😁 Age is just a number and cheers to more adventures!

Question for you. I’ve been that detached traveler in the past, visiting all the spots you’re supposed to visit and essentially only interacting with natives serving the tourists. How do you break that barrier to have meaningful interactions with the locals and gain a sense of what their lives are like?

Good question... this is not always easy. Chatting with other passengers in transit who are open to it works well for me. There's also language meetups, homestays... generally travelling slower (I have been invited a few times for dinner by locals which only happened because I was staying in a village for a while). There's probably things I'm forgetting 😀
