1993 was a really great world to be in and it's difficult to watch this and not feel a great deal of loss. Beautiful Natalie is now 60, as am I. I have an April 2024 concert ticket to see her. I'm really looking forward, which is what I need to do in general.🎉

Natalie’s/10k Maniacs’ songs take me back to a budding friendship I had in 1993 that was so special to me. I hear These Are The Days and it takes me right back.

Wish they had these songs on cd. I love these songs and just how Natalie is so vibrant and her smile is extremely contagious. The whole band was amazing, just have to love her dancing. She was my idol in high school. Well still is.

It's Sunday morning. My wife and my dog are waiting for me to make them breakfast. I have multiple loads of laundry to do, as well as last nights dishes to wash. But all I want to do is watch Natalie Merchant videos.

Very few performers have the stage presence that Natalie has.

She was so amazing to watch back in those days! So I'll share a couple of memories, I first saw her at the channel in Boston with the maniacs and she was spinning on the stage like a whirling dervish the whole time! That was when she was younger and her hair was still long and it was flying all over the place!! But I want to see a very special concert, and it would have been in the early summer of 92 or more likly 93, in a very small club in Bearsville New York, and the 10,000 Maniacs were busy rehearsing on their new album not too far away in the church. So this was a pop-up concert done just so they could rehearse some of the new material, and it was for a small audience. I could go on and on about how enchanting she was to actually see in person only 10 ft for me, so intimate. In between the songs (some of which were not yet recorded) she was talking about her garden, and what kinds of lettuce she had planted! But what I really wanted to share was that as I was sitting in my seat my wife pointed out to me a couple a few sests over and said, "hey, isnt that guy in REM?" Sure enough, it was Mike Mills, and then during a break i ended up chatting with Peter Buck about politics over a beer in the lobby. It seems REM was with them in their studio nearby adding some things to the new record. Never saw Michael, he was most likly keeping a lower profile or backstage. But such a special day. Love her so much and she is pretty much ALWAYS like that!!! Yes, "those were the days"

I was a waiter in Nashville in the 90s. One day I served Michael Stipe and Natalie Merchant together. They barely spoke a word to me. The only exception was when they ordered. I didn’t inform them that I knew who they were. The entire time they were there they silently surveyed the other patrons in the restaurant as if they were a king and queen perched on their thrones looking down on the lowly peasants below them. I waited on countless famous people and I’m not being hyperbolic when I say they were the most unpleasant people I ever encountered. Seeing this video reminded of how arrogant and rude they were that day.

This is what world famous pop stars looked like in 1993, ushering in a new generation of leadership and hope. We have lost so much beyond the normal getting old and passing of generations. I fear the early 90s was peak America. It's been all downhill since.

One for the ages. What an incredible performance. The energy wow.

I went to concert 10,000 maniacs opening for REM circa 1985, didnt know much about either band, but now I do. So many bands that I didnt appreciate enough at the time. So many comments appreciating the past, getting older with these music memories helps make it through this soulless world we live in now.
