I am so glad I found these teachings of Dr Lisle. I have had very good teaching pastors who have helped me find more in the bible than I would have on my own. I have heard them touch on the subject of truth and logic but not in such depth. This lesson is invaluable to me and there was also a lot of confirmation or reinforcing of the way I think about the truth and how important it is and how much the truth belongs to the Lord. There is only one truth that is Gods truth and like Dr Lisle mentioned God can not lie to us and would not want to but we can know that we know something 100 percent to be true and that is no small thing. Its a powerful thing and to have knowledge of Gods truth we can not be so easily fooled by Satan into sin and suffering. We are imperfect but we are not stupid as God did not make us stupid. We know when we are wrong or are doing wrong even before we know why or how sometimes. God has given us everything we need and then some. We need to trust him and it is logical to trust him. I often struggle with the word faith because I know God is real and alive and I know he Loves me. I know him personally like I know my own self is real. Logically the proof is in the fruit and can be seen when one follows the Lords will for them. That might sound hard but Dr Lisle explains it is not as we already know Gods Law for us in our hearts. Gods word is clear and we can know we can trust it 100 percent and we should study it. I don't think for us human beings it is enough though and without already having Gods low for us written on our hearts we would be so lost and either misunderstand Gods word or just fail to follow it lot of the time. God knows we need his help and he helped us giving us a consciences so he could communicate write from wrong and know his truth on the fly. It's a dangerous world and we would not get so far on our own. Thank you Dr Lisle I have not met you but I love you my brother in Christ. Your ministry is helping people and I can see God has protected you and allowed and enabled you in your ministry. I share your teachings often in Christian groups when people have difficult questions or are confused about the bible being scientific even.
Fav thing about Lisle: he really is intellectually honest. He does not just cling to every piece of data that might be construed to support his views. He has repeatedly said “no that’s not quite right” about things that could easily be thrown at the wall and seem like support.
Good stuff...don't let logical fallacies mislead you. Logic is good for winning a High school debate, but it's not necessarily the best determiner of truth. A fallacious argument could have a true conclusion...so if you offer a weak argument, it doesn't mean the conclusion you're arguing is false. Like the argument from analogy...if we argue the best explanation for complex things is an intelligent designer, it's a true conclusion even if it's a weak argument. What I preach is God falsified naturalism when he performed miracles...therefore one should not rely on naturalistic thinking when they interpret the Bible. Naturalism is a false and miserable philosophy of this world, it is not helpful in learning anything important about the truth.
Also, Naturalism provides no basis for the existence of true vs false, or even for claims/statements/assertions. There can be nothing “true” about sound waves (verbal utterances) or electrical signals (thoughts). We must have a mind (not just a natural brain) somewhere to have any true statement (or any statement). Naturalism disproves itself.
