There are no buildings left standing in the early 1980's, but I visited the town site of Circle City on the banks if the Yukon River. In 1886 it had a population of 10,000. Fed on the hope of gold discovery it was superseded by Anvil. Only a few dips in the groung a a few timbers remain. Alaska's environment is harsh to man's building effort. Most of our early history is underground, only a few places survived the time and trials of the Rush of '98.
