Agreed. It really depends on the attire and situation. W/o trying to look like a youngster, a sling worn under an overcoat is clutch. More storage, more secure, doesn’t add bulk to your silhouette. Works with most casual F/W coats and jackets.
Disagree on the G Shock. No, I'm not wearing a G to the office (although I have) or to dinner out. But I'm not wearing a "classic 3 hand watch on brown leather" on a hike, or skiing or working out or at the pool. Not all G Shocks are garish monstrosities. Some are relatively sleek and look perfectly fine with casual wear.
All watches have a time and a place. I have a big red monstrosity of a g shock that looks bad almost every outfit but it’s lasted me for more than 6 years of surfing and beach going.
Can't agree with a sling bag point, worn across the chest or behind my back. It's just so darn practical for my lifestyle and I think it doesn't look that bad. I just have a simple black one that is super lightweight and doesn't stand out that I use to carry my stuff around when going anywhere from hikes to the grocery store
Agree with everything but the G-Shocks. I wear them on occasion, they are great in the ocean or pool while on vacation, or a black G-Shock square works great at a BBQ or sporting event. Most of the time I wear a watch from Omega or Longines, but G-Shocks are fun options (when appropriate) in the boring world of Apple Watches.
Bro, if you are listening to her suggestions you are preventing to experiment your true style and be more confident. Don’t listen to what women like this want you to wear, find your style and you will be at peace and confident
It's perfectly possible to buy a small, understated G-shock. I have two small square G-shocks that have no color whatsoever; they're just black. Stop equating G-shocks with giant faces/bands and bright colors. That's like equating all analogue watches with blingy, flashy Rolexes.
Lawl!!! When I was 20 yo & single, my brother's GF told be the 1st thing women see on a man is their shoes. One of the best lessons I ever learned. love this channel.
Nordgreen watches is not something I would recommend though. I looked-up the reviews, the mechanics are of cheap quality for the price they sell it, and Nordgreen is accused of greenwashing (in their own review section). Most of the reviews tell the watch fell apart in less than a year. Some say the design was properly copied from Daniel Wellington.
The G-Shock, I'd have a different opinion. I'd use it primarily in gym and sport settings. Mine are black monochrome. Other than that, I'd going classic analog.
Everything has it's place. Did you know G-shocks are initially made for military and the special forces? It was launched in the 80's to serve as a timekeeper for them. Even today G shock, along with Garmin are the 2 biggest brands who supplies the military. The flashy colourways are indeed targeted at the youth, but that's not the collection older men wear. And glasses. Again, all about the occasion. Sporty glasses is normal in an sporty occasion. Just like sporty clothes and running shoes.
totally agree with everything other than the scent hate lol. I wear perfume even to sleep after the night shower. I wear it even when there's no one home. because I enjoy it. 2 sprays are almost never enough. there's absolutely nothing wrong if others can smell your perfume too. you may think I know nothing but if you believe tom ford knows anything about fashion then why only smell a little bit good when you can smell great :P
Your fragrance should be discovered, not announced. Nothing wrong with an intimate scent bubble surrounding you. But if you enter a room and people smell you before they see you, then you put too much on. No one wants to be choked out by your 10+ sprays of Aventus
@@ch00p generally, if you can discover 2 sprays yourself you should work on discovering the cure for cancer. generations will thank you. In my entire life I have rarely smelled perfume before seeing the person wearing it. Never have I ever been chocked nor heard anyone I know say that they were choked by a perfume. But there never been a year when people I know and I have not complained about someone's BO or bad breath.
I agree with everything except the gshocks and the snap backs. I where them normally and they fit my head. I get what she means by backwards but....snaps still have their place. They just look better with a casual outfit
Can't really argue with any of those (except the luggage one seemed a bit incongruous when I saw it, but then when I saw the sponsorship I knew why it was). Sensible advice, though remember we aren't all quite as obsessive compulsive as you seem with this stuff, so the laces one may not matter to us..
Hey Ashley - do you have any thoughts on if you are an arty alternative left of centre type.... who does not feel comfortable looking mainstream fashion... yet does not want to look like a weirdo... is there an in-between zone where you can look adventurous/stylish/alternative/age appropriate? It was interesting when you talk about minimalism with jewellery - maybe you have more suggestions on that theme. Thinking you!
_"At least fanny packs have a purpose. [...] Stick to a classic baseball cap or beanie if you must wear a hat."_ Ah, yes, because baseball caps and especially beanies protect your face, ears, and neck from the cancer-inducing UV rays of the sun SO much better than a hat with a 360 degree brim.
I'm 34 and occasionally get kicked out of bars before I'm even carded. No fashion accessory will help me **not** look juvenile, so I still dress like a teen. I pretty much have to or I look like I'm wearing "daddy's" outfit. Also snapbacks come in all shapes, sizes and styles. Why generalize them around the worst one?
She’s got a serious issue with Casio based on some odd perception I’ll assume is ignorance and not malice. Her ‘style’ tips are extremely conservative and lack creativity. Casio is a god-tier brand, the Rolex of digital watches and every man should own one. Presidents have worn them. From $15-4000 they have a huge variety. There’s a reason trend setters like Usher wear them. A bright green or red GA-2100 looks great with a summer suit. They’re perfect for any recreational outing and a must for a streetwear look. Metal cased versions look sleek at work or out on the town. Most watch collectors own Casios of some kind. Vintage models sell for real money and new colors and limited editions can sell out online in minutes.
Yeah, I'll continue to be myself. Lets not forget other cultures exist, and they have their own styles. If you love something, wear it, regardless of what some fashionable woman says on YT.
Flat cap for baseball hat. Natural fiber clothes instead of synthetic. Wear clothes just a fraction looser with no bright colors. Trainers in a plain color are fine for walking the dog or small errands otherwise bench them, but show a little more adventure than just white sneakers. Thats my advice.
Ive never been an accessories guy. I only wore a wedding band for 20+ yrs because I had to. Also not a carry bag dude either, thats what pockets are for. If you need a purse for all your stuff, you got way too much stuff IMO. For work, I carried a briefcase when needed. I hate wearing a watch too. Im a lefty and it just gets in the way, put it on the right arm and the stem digs into your flesh. On the occasions before cellphones If I absolutely needed a timepiece I'd clip on my Granddaddies pocket watch or just stick a watch in my coat pocket.
What about tattoos? I ran into a middle aged woman shopping the other day who had a tattoo on the upper left side of her chest. I thought to myself "that looks like a terradactyl - whoa! Gnarly!" She said it was a butterfly 🦋😂😂😂
0:33 I don't think men wearing a fanny pack purse over their shoulder are painstakingly putting any outfit together, they just aren't trying. Saw one in the wild yesterday at the doctor's office. I just shook my head within my head. It upsets me to see a grown ass man who can't even dress himself and/or just isn't trying. It's not hard to put something together even if it's just a T-shirt. Even you've shown with basic pieces it makes it easy. I don't get it sometimes, the lack of effort and pride in one's self.
I love your great work but the fanny pack is not suppose to convey style because it is stylish, it is supposed to convey street cred because that is a roadman bag and it is supposed to store gear in a concert festival or something.
Thanks, Ashley - Great recommendations overall - shoelace recommendation is tough to do as it creates discomfort for me, and the g-shock is utilitarian. I am certainly not wearing my nice watch while washing the car :).
Fanny packs are widely worn throughout Asia and Europe. No man, or even some women, would want to carry a huge bag all the time. Fanny packs are much better than stuffing your pockets with your every day carry. Also, G-Shocks are definitely cool and stylish as long as you don't wear them when you are in formal wear (but hey, watches are supposed to be fun so you do you). In short, fanny packs and G-Shocks are perfectly acceptable, gentlemen.
I always feel super ripped off by luxury watches. They are missing numbers, hands, and often are not waterproof. I'm buying a watch not a sundail. Where's the value and functionality?
Sorry but I dont think you should hide the bow on a shoe lace. Shoes have lace. Laces has bow to hold it in place for hundreds of years its there why hide it. It looks as if it is missing something.
@@Diego-Designs A shoulder bag is just a bigger fanny pack. There should be an option for those of us who don't need to carry around a bulky shoulder bag but also can't make do with just using our pockets (especially when Ashley says we can't wear cargo pants or even use our front pockets).
First off I wanna say I appreciate her opinion and her advice she has helped me out a lot on a really lot of outfits but I want to address something or ask questions I used to weigh 290 pounds it took me almost 2 years to get to 220 pounds I'm Athletic build I tried on a leather jacket today it looked wonderful but looking at 1 of her videos I felt a little skeptical about buying it because I felt like when maybe I'm too old and I'm 37 I shouldn't buy black leather jacket it was not a fake it was around $1500 The leather looked great but I really wanted to black leather jacket but listening to her this not appropriate for my age I guess that's what she said I thought fashion was a statement or a extension of yourself? So I'm trying to figure out if a person works A whole 3 years to save up for a Louis vuitton purse Louis vuitton purse may be very logo heavy does it make them look cheap because it's logos everywhere is there to hold for the purse are is it okay because it's a Louis vuitton I'm not attacking her I'm just trying to get a better understanding because people have different culture some styles are more acceptable to others so I'm just trying to get a better understanding of what she's saying I feel like if a person wants to wear the leather jacket in a 50s that she'll be able to if they can still fit it I feel like if a person loses a lot of weight and worked hard to work on their appearance and they wanna wear a Ralph Lauren shirt or a Hillfigure shirt I feel like it's okay But I have got a lot of shoe advice from her I did get my first pair of white choose to go with a great outfit and some jeans looking at her channel so she does have really good knowledge and great understanding on how things work is your some stuff I'm trying to get a better grasp than understanding please make a video if you even can or if you can understand what I'm saying Thanks have a great dand I'm sorry if the message came off aggressive I was really not trying for that to be the case
I am 56 years old and I have three leather jackets. Two leather bomber jacket, I believe I look good in, and a subtle leather biker jacket. I stepped outside the other day and a neighbour immediately complimented me on my subtle leather biker jacket. I have also noticed women look at me more attractively when I wear the subtle biker leather jacket. However, I am aware some leather biker jackets look of on some older men! I make a point of not wearing cloths with logos because I feel it takes away from your outfit and I am not an advertisement for their company. I usually shop at Reiss and they hardly ever have logos on cloths or accessories. I have a Calvin Klein white low top sneaker but their logo is hardly visible, you will not notice it because it is at the back and you will be pushed to see it. I would wear Ralph Lauren shoes which has no logos. Hope this gives you a different perspective to reflect on. Have a good day. I agree Ashley Weston or mens fashioner has insight to dress nicely.
Idk….. are dudes listening to her….. Cologne, man……. Get at some Atelier Paris guys, and move forward…lol Is this stuff really relevant? A lot of misinformed views, especially now in this post hype beast times…. Puma is amazing now, ……idk
I feel like everything being said in this video is coming from someone who wants men to be the stereotypical, conservative 'man's man'. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a little bit of prejudice behind it all. Fair enough if it's personal taste but it just feels a little bit toxic. Men, some women will love your piercings. Don't take this video as gospel.
Hey Ashley! You missed the double whammy of the baseball cap with the sports sunglasses balanced on top. Guys, you don't look cool, sorry to break it to you lol!
