"The beautiful one" makes my heart sing as my father never referred to our mother without the beautiful preceding the word Mother. If only all men expressed this sentiment their lives would be far greater. Thank you! I miss this so much and your teaching your children how to be happy - love it!
Brilliant... As a 73-year old with limited mobility and resources, watching you guys is the nearest I'm gonna come to farming. Plus, I started out live in North Carolina. It's mighty refreshing to see. It may not matter that I approve, but I do very strongly. Plus, if the Giftie decides to send me back for any reason, I'd like to at least start out on a farm and family like yours.
Clarke, you got this! Maybe look into micro greens as a great lil house farming that can get to high volumes pretty easily : ) I'm doing herbs and tomatoes on the patio in the tiny corner with light this year. It's been fun 😊
Clarke Fountain, the Epic Farmer did a video on gardening for those with disabilities. It has lots of ideas. The man he interviewed is in a wheelchair.
I mainly garden in large pots and I have 10 old galvanized old horse tanks that don’t require me to bend over to plant them. They work great for older folks...
Acknowledging creation with out acknowledging the creator, is like looking at a masterpiece of art and saying no one painted it. Love what you have done with what you have been entrusted with! Great Job! and keep up the good work!
I swear when I tell people they should watch your channel I always say “he always calls Rebecca “the beautiful one”” it’s really so sweet and endearing and just a testament to how connected you guys are. I just love it so much! And she really is so beautiful 😍

Justin, maybe you all should make a sand bed for the cats to dump in? It appears they are just taking advantage of the raised bed, because it is close to the home and has spots for them to poo in. Make a nice sized sand box, and put Catnip plant in the box to attract them to it.
@@naxxas Good idea! Last year we had a round raised bed loaded with cat poop. I didn’t realize the neighborhood cats did their business there when we’re not looking Lol. I decided to just plant all flowers on that raised beds and maybe will continue to. Didn’t know about black pepper. It does not harm the plants ?
Its amazing how God provides everything ❤️ the rain, the sun, the clean air, the animals and the fertile land all was given to to use and take care of and you have done a great job ❤️
This resource is a keeper. Never has 40 mins gone so fast. Loved every second of it. I grew up on 500 square miles sheep station, in the Australian outback and now live in a city. But. I still use permaculture practice in my backyard. Blessings from Australia ❤️
I love your family story! I’ll bet you see your father walking with you all the time. My husband grew up on 135 acres and was an only child. He was told his whole life that the property would be his one day. Then his dad got Altzheimers and his mom divorced him. She had power of attorney and sold the property. My husband was heartbroken. I wish his story would have been like yours!
I read this, and it broke my heart a little, I really hope you and your husband are doing well!! Best of luck to both of you for your future and happiness :)
@@autumn4191 Thank you! Yes, we’re doing great! In August we will celebrate our 54th wedding anniversary! We have 4 great kids and 10 awesome grands! We are truly blessed!
The way you rotate your animals is amazing. I've seen so many videos about rotational grazing, but I dont think I've ever seen one where they rotate 3 species in a natural harmony like you do. Everything makes so much sense to do it that way. Props to you!
Due to being too busy, I hadn't seen your episodes for about three months. I'm so impressed and amazed at how each garden has grown in abundance. Great job. Love your enthusiasm. Love your family. You and the family (and Joel) have inspired so many to become sustainable. Thank you for sharing
When you started talking about being the third generation and 90 years on the land, I felt that. My family has a similar story of being on our land for 150 years before it was sold. The connection I had to that land and my ancestors was amazing! While I do not get to live my dream of being the next gen farmer of family land. I do get to steward my own legacy with those same ancestors guiding me along the way.
Justin, we've recently got 8 pigs on our 22 acre woods- I am as excited as you to watch what theyre doing turning forest into pasture. Really exciting stuff😁👍
We got started with pigs this year and they are slightly intimidating at first but sure love them. We are due for piglets anytime now. Check out our channel:)
Justin Rhoades it's a great idea showing the public about what have established on the farm for your families survival in the event of any type of natural catastrophe or break down in the infrastructure! As a long time followers of the channel many of us had been taking along by way of the channel as you put many of these systems in place. I'm sure that your family is so grateful 🥲 and as a viewer of the channel I'm thankful for you sharing the experience. You are a very details, goal oriented and organized personal great moral attributes that you are passing down to the future generations of the family.👏👏👏
I haven't watched a video since you made those raised beds and holy cow man, your place is looking so good. Those full freezers and lush gardens make me jealous, I gotta admit. What you have achieved with your family is exactly the kind of life I desire.
Loved todays vlog…your passion is inspiring and contagious. Your a teacher and a mentor…thank you for always sharing! Blessings and much love Rhodes family! 💖💖🙏
My god, I use to love watching this channel, as well as Living tradition homestead. And recently while catching up on the videos of this channel, I found the sow the land channel. My husband and I have 20 acres, we’ve had it for about 10 years now. And now we’re in our planning phase of what we want to do with it. This summer, I plan on spending a few days there during the week and weekends raising chickens and trying my hands at gardening in raised beds. I’m excited!! Most importantly I’m looking forward to hands on learning through trial and error.
Hi Justin, I think you should consider getting Winnie a spiked collar in case she has to fight any wild animals. It would protect her neck which is typically how wild animals kill their prey.
As a great Pyrenees owner. A pack of coyoties wouldn't even come close with her there. I promise you don't have to worry about her. I had 2 Pyrenees sisters with a heard of goats and I wouldn't have been the least bit afraid for the dogs or the goats if a bear wondered to close. These dogs are sweet and loving, but if a threat is close very, very vicious. Just my personal experience, so please be nice everyone.
Thank you Justin, for keeping on even if you have to repeat somethings again, thank you for not quitting. We all know there is new subscribers just as we all were some or other time. But the gold nuggets are in-between the things we already know, right next to the inspiration and permission slips you hand out so freely. Be blessed brother. Respect from Africa 🇿🇦
me and my girl ex girlfriend used to watch your videos wayback 2019. You guys influence her alot to dream having her own land and do permaculture just like what you guys are doing. we find Gideon so cute. She now has her own land and starts to grow her own foods and veggies. Justin inspired her a lot in many ways. She is a great woman with a great heart .Thanks for sharing your videos with us it made us happy and inspired.
Justin it is God that provides. He created earth to provide for us as humans and He said we have to take care of the earth. Wishing you always the best.
My husband works 30min away, 50+ hours a week. The youngest kiddo is now 2, and I feel like I have more time to help on the homestead front. I cannot *wait* to implement all I’m learning from you. I have your videos up on one side of my screen, and my doc on the other taking notes. Thank you so much!
Just as perfectly illustrated in your Rooted Life book. Good work Uncle Justin. Great motivation for us wanna be homesteaders. Thank you a million times
Wow ~ your homestead living is very inspiring! I just bought a 10 acres land in Arkansas this February 2023 and accidentally I came across with your vlog. Now you give me insights, skills & knowledge how to start to clean & till my land. My plans to grow organic vegetation & raising organic livestock. Than’x a lot for sharing your expertise & knowledge to us. Really appreciate it! I just subscribed in your utube channel. My Fiancé & I are your big fan. Goodluck & Happy Farming 🍀
If you wanna save the earth.....this is where you start. This we can discuss. Turning everything off is going to only hurt people. Gotta change the culture . Thank you for showing us the way friend.
Thanks for taking additional time to share your POV. I, unfortunately, didn’t come away with much. I my humble opinion; you’d have made a larger impact had you been conversing, teaching and learning from Jonah & Josiah in this video- Cheers!
It says in the bible that creation was spoken into existence by father God THRU Jesus Christ, with the power of the Holy Spirit(to be precise). Give them all their due☝
Good evening everyone, this is amazing!!! I love all that you all have worked so hard for, it's brilliant, beautiful and what a blessing !! May you all continue on for 200 more years!! Blessings to you all!!!!
Have I ever commented? No. Your excitement and enthusiasm should be a Broad Pandemic. I have watched for a long time appreciating the growth and the pruning both of the landscape and attitudes. Rock on . Please remember to appreciate and grow North American Native Plants in the prairie, woodland and wetland areas. We need the good insecta for health.
Congrats my friend, love your videos. I'm starting my own permacultural experience here in Brazil, thank you for for your instructions and inspiration. All the best to you and the family
Wow that’s impressive in the freezers and fridges. We only been on our land 9 months. Hope we at your level one day. We have 2 large freezers and 3 fridge freezers full, but mainly of beef. Was gifted 2 cattle beasts. Ha grass clippings is my huge favourite, in amongst our hundreds of fruit trees and enormous garden we have, I’ve put about a million catches of grass around everything 🤣🤣. The people who live at our property were going to make a shirt for me with “ just keep mowing” written on it. Absolutely loved this video. Hopefully we get to this level soon.
I’m very thankful to you and your family for sharing your homesteading life with us . It’s very inspirational. Because of your family it is inspiring me and giving me the confidence to become a homesteader. Thanks again with much love and gratitude!
For the problem with cats in beds, try putting dry bushes and twigs in the ground. It helped me. They usually don't feel like crawling through them to get to the ground, and the plants don't mind.
I AM TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY BY YOUR FARM!!! DID YOU SAY THIS LAND HAS BEEN IN YOUR FAMILY FOR NEARLY 100 YEARS? HOW BLESSED ARE YOU!!?!! YOUR LIFESTYLE IS THE ENVY OF MANY, INCLUDING MYSELF!! SO, DID YOU LEARN THESE FARMING PRACTICES FROM YOUR ANCESTORS? I IMAGINE THE MATH OF YOUR FARM IS SUPER FASCINATING! SUSTAINABILITY IS EVERYONE'S FUTURE- YOU SIR ARE A PIONEER OF THE FUTURE!!
Thank you Justin. Your videos are more like movies. A lot of people that make videos are BORING! They repeat themselves too much and with you it seems like we are there talking to each other. Respect.
HA! I love it! When we travel, we take our food with us too! We just went to Florida last week for vacation, stayed in our cousin's condo and cooked all our meals from homemade/homegrown food!
❤ Justin,Ur amazing ,brilliant abuñdant food creator.Ur permaculture bordelines on artistry! Congratulations on Ur success and acomplishments,Joel Salatin should be proud of U! And barn dance parties😊
We are just getting started and it's so hard to fathom having such a rich homestead such as yours but...one day...😜🤣 Thanks for sharing all of your journey with us so we can soak in all this knowledge for the future of a better earth, community, and family! 🥳
@@brockstar1311 yes it sure is...glad I'm patient because we need to slow roll this with the crazy cost of supplies right now! Time to get creative...😜🤣
I love your show and very informative. God has blessed your family. I Never hear you give glory to the most high. You have a awesome opportunity to spread Jesus Christ name with the following you have. All I'm saying give a little love. Because without him nothing will be possible. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hi,Justin. I am in the process of starting a legacy for my family, my grandchildren. You are so right. My hope, one day, they will be walking in the areas where I sweat, where I endured the pain, fatigue working in our land.
Hope we see putting up all those veggies and how you like to cook and prepare them. Always see them growing . Barely see them harvested and stored and cooked.
