I hardly ever hot glue, but now I'm getting some practical Ideas and quick-fixes that may be useful later

One time I had a cheap hot glue gun but I forgot to unplug it and it stayed on for about two months. All the metal was oxidised and brown.

You missed the best one- make a small hot glue blob in the shape of a T on a piece of wax paper and allow the bottom of the T to string out long. The top of the T should be about the size of your nostril. Let dry and then peel it up- you should have a long stringy and bouncy strand. Next time there is a long line and you do not feel like waiting, simply gather up the long stringy part into your palm and insert the top of the T into your nostril. Pretend you are about to sneeze with your hand over your nose as you approach the line and then let it loose while once you have most people's attention. Then begin walking towards people with the exposed strand dangling and shaking around. I promise you will clear most any place out- this is especially effective at restaurants. Also very good in Urgent Care centers if you make biohazard references.
