When JR interviewed Michael Cole or got him in the ring, he handed Cole the mask and announced Dr Death in reference to the Brawl For All, it was another attempt to get JR as a heel and it didnt work, JR basically were saying that the WWF were trying to make a mockery of Dr Death and then proceeded to kick Cole in the groin and tried to take his spot at ringside, but only to be escorted out of the building

The independent wrestling scene had a guy mamed Jarek1:20 who kinda did this. I haven't kept up in a while but I think he did take a break from wrestling to focus more on his magic though

With all the profuction involved a magician could do some cool things, like appear or vanish from places, locking people in trunks and making them disappear, sawing people in half. a heel that terrorised opponents with elaborate magic tricks could be really fun.

The Kizarny character had 39 matches over the span of 4+ months. Only two of those were main roster TV matches, but he'd done it on FCW TV and at plenty of house shows, so it wouldn't qualify for this list.

Wildo and Ingus (Willow and Ignis Fatuus) were actually the Hardys indy gimmick that they tried to bring to TV. WWF said sure, misspelled their names, then told them they should probably just keep being the Hardys.

The thing about the Emmalina segment was that not only did it fail, Vince never learned from it. Done the same shit with Veer a few years later. Taking over 6 months or whatever to get to Raw and people just got fed up of waiting and it flopped big time

Sci-fi and horror do have a lot of crossover though, I mean the first Alien film was just as much of a horror as it was sci-fi, if not more so. It was pretty much a Lovecraftian horror set in space.

So it was more so the OG ECW just WWE branded now as before the WWF was ECW's Silent Partner as in Vinny Mac kept paying Paul E to keep that company afloat w/ all them Forbidden Door Matches n the decade long feud of Jerry Lawler n Paul Heyman as in you know The King vs Xtremly Krappy Wrasslin!

The wholesome part of Emmalina was that it was shot down due to Emma not feeling comfortable in the role and WWE actually listening. The bad part was that they seemed to have the vignettes continue for months, presumably trying to convince Emma to do it

There is one that I remember, it was a Riddick Moss gimmick that invovled him drinking from a cup that gave him a boost of energy during his NXT run. Albeit forgettable. it's been something that randomly comes to my mind. And it did only last ONE night.

Wasn't The Zombie being a stupid gimmick kind of the point, though? I thought the idea was that Sandman was gonna get rid of him to show that ECW isn't about corny gimmicks? I mean make no mistake, that still didn't stop WWECW from going to shit real quick but I feel like this particular event wasn't really part of the problem.

Agreed, I think what happened with him was all that was ever supposed to happen. I think if they planned to make "The Zombie" a regular character, they'd have given it to someone under contract rather than somebody who had just wrestled as enhancement talent on WWE Heat one night before.

Yeah people are always hung up on the ECW Zombie like he was a constant fixture on the show and diminished the brand when it was just having a "silly Syfy gimmick" as most expected WWECW to have since it was going to be on the Syfy channel, only to be destroyed by ECW original Sandman in quick beatdown.

Friar Ferguson actually had a couple of appearances. One in a match and the other coming out after a match to check on Phil Apollo after losing to Bam Bam Bigelow and ends up dropkicking Bigelow out of the ring.

Gill said that he was wearing the outfit backstage messing around. Vince saw it, thought it was funny and told him he and Barry are wrestling next. Gill explained to Vince that Barry was currently in the ring, Vince said "well tell him to change fast" and they went out.

You know, every time I see mentions on Zombie on the first episode of WWE ECW as "the opposite" of true ECW... people just don't know that ECW was full of weird gimmicks. Like Amish Roadkill... that was a very weird gimmick. There was The Musketeer in ECW in 2000 (and yes, a guy wore a musketeer costume... for some reason, he was a part of Simon Diamond's entourage). There was a wrestler named Chilly Willy... so yeah, Zombie wasn't that far off. ECW had its own share of weird gimmicks.

I maintain to this day that the Bray Wyatt dressed as Abigail thing was a direct reference to Korekiyo’s twist in DanganRonpa V3, which had been released in the US a couple of weeks prior. The way they speak is very similar and knowing Windham’s taste and what influenced his later character it’s definitely something he would have played.

Speaking of Turtle gimmicks Rest in Peace Chris Champion who wrestled with two Turtle gimmicks. When he was wrestling for CWA and USWA he had a character named Kowabunga. And secondly when he was wrestling for Frontier Martial Arts Wrestling in Japan going by the name Turtle Kamen. Also Rest in Peace to Tim Arson who wrestled as The Zombie in WWF.

I watched all RAWs and Smackdowns from 97 to 2001 about three years ago and I remember all of the Doc Kabuki thing except for Doc Kabuki.

#11: The Flying Nuns, AKA The Sisters of Love, consisting of Mother Smucker and Sister Angelica. Had one match, against the Godwinns on the first episode of Shotgun Saturday Night on January 4, 1997. They would later find success as the Headbangers.

Friar Ferguson was on RAW 2 times, so he didn't last just one night. He had his debut on 4/12/93 and appeared to confront Bam Bam Bigelow on the 4/19/93 RAW.

I'll offer the following corrections so far: The Kabuki thing was at least REFERENCED after Williams' one appearance, during JR's heel turn in 1999. He brought out the outfit and lambasted WWF creative (remember Vince Russo booking was in full effect, so...SHOOT PROMO!) for coming up with it for a legend like Doc. Friar Ferguson did make one more appearance. It wasn't a match though...he ran in to save a jobber from Bam Bam Bigelow. Tim Arson actually made a pretty good indy wrestling career using the ECW Zombie character. Especially in Northeastern companies. Sadly, he passed away 9+ years ago...spare the zombie jokes, please. Sister Abigail can be said to have made more appearances...if you believe that Abby the Witch in the Firefly Funhouse was meant to be her. Other than that, S.A. was in storyline deceased anyway, wasn't she? (Of note, if you squint, MAYBE, Wyatt in Abigail drag looked a little...like The Fiend, actually.)

Headbanger Jos Leduc in 1988 WWF? Muffy, Stephanie McMahon's trainer? High Chief Afi? Yes, he was Sivi Afi who was on the roster for years, but this was when he was made into the third man of The Islanders, and was given Peter Maivia like body tattoos. AND HE ACTED LIKE A FACE IN THE MATCH. After this one match, the Islanders disbanded anyway so Haku could become King.
