Honestly, most people dont dislike metallica just to look "cool". most people dislike metallica because they made two good albums, and then almost 30 years of just...just awful radio noise. As far as influence, i suppose you beleive the whole "metallica was the first thrash band". when they absolutely were not.

@TREVOR PETERSON I seriously disagree. Korn tried to create a totally new sound, and succeeded! But, a bunch of other bands stole from them and were shoved down our throats by Labels, and so the whole Nu Metal genre crashed and burnt. But, if you listen to Korn even today, they are so goddamn unique and special. Always trying new things, even if some experiments don't work, they'll keep striving, and.. keep hitting a ton of charts in the top 10. 13 albums down the line, they are still crazy creative. Hands down, my favorite band is Korn.

Progressive metal their EP and first album were very metal ever listen to ticks and leeches on lateralus doesn't get more metal than that besides slayer I guess lol

@@petegrusky2715 well Metallica is one of the most culturally significant bands They have multiple grammys, they have a number of hits, they played on all 7 continents, and their shows are the best live performances anyone has ever done
I love that Tool makes these list. I think Testament is underrated in most of these I love lamb of god and slipknot, but then we might as well add mudvayne, Disturbed and Godsmack. Testament started with the big 4 and is prolly putting out better albums than the big 4 . They should be on the top 10 in my eyes.
They are just very distorted and downtuned in order to be anything else. Of course they are alternative metal and progressive metal but not everything metal has to be fucking cliches
These kind of lists don't really matter to me. I'm just glad that I grew up listening to all these great bands and enjoy blasting their music on my stereo and going to their concerts.

No KoRn? I'm a little shocked that Slipknot would get on here and KoRn would not. Just an observation. Also, I'm glad to see Death on here but disappointed by the lack of Faith No More and Acid Bath. I get that you only have 10 picks on here, but I think that the two bands that, along with Death and Pantera, rewrote the book on Metal Vocals. And this is REALLY wishful thinking, but it would have been nice to see Corrosion of Conformity get some love. #SludgeLife

+frank unodostres Metallica is probably the band that has influenced the most people around the world with their lyrics or to start playing an instrument, atleast from this list of bands. My youtube name might make you ignore what I'm writing, but love or hate Metallica, there's no denying their importance in the metal genre.
MetallicA7X92 that is exactly what I am saying. they are important and influential. but there are several bands that are more talented and make better music. not only in my opinion but in a technical aspect. and trust me, I have seen metallica live. like I said, they are certainly not bad, they are "good"

I hate these lists...they're all the creators opinion. You can't make a "best" list about music - there's no objective way of measuring which bands are the "best" because music is all about taste, it's all subjective.
