Since the 1970's South Africa has been at the forefront of armoured personnel carrier design. # The battle-proven Casspir still has it all. Dependable, rugged, agile, quick, silent, all terrain, excellent personnel protection, easy maintenance, easy to repair. AND it is still in use! In SA as well as with UN peacekeepers. # The Ratel was a later design and also excellent. # The Buffel was a f*cking steel bucket on a Unimog chassis. The vehicles on your list are heavy and seem to make extensive use of electronics. They have yet to prove themselves in battle.
I was actually amazed when I learned how mine resistant African Mraps are. Some like the windhoeker Werwolf MK2 can take 3,4 mines at once and were designed in the 90's.
This is a thing, but steal and specificly created Stanag 4569 proved materials are usually heavy. So do not expect too high protection from ordinary cars with protection.
the V hull was pioneered in south Africa for the Angola war. do another check list on the other south African variants in use of such vehicles. you'll be surprised.
Titus is based on Tatra 815-7 chasi. All vehicles will be build by czech companies (for central, posibly eastern and southern europe). 62 pieces will be delivered to czech army in 2022-2023. Posibly our ministry of defence want to have 300 pieces of this vehicle.
The entire list should consist of South African vehicles. Reasons: 1. All listed, copy SA designs 2. SA vehicles battle proven 3. Battle proven with great success 4. Greatest manufacturers of armoured personnel carriers from 1970's till 1990's, designs still relevant.
vehicles made in russia are beautifully simple and super tough(love the ural) but those MRAPS are COMBAT PROVEN and SUPER tough!!.ask the U.S. GIs that rode on them.🚒🚚
I am surprised that the ST100, ST500 are not mentioned, originally from South Africa, now residing in Egypt. They have all the bells and whistles that all the others have. All but the diesel engines, which are US made, the rest made in Egypt. They are selling like pancakes.
The hippo is the OG mrap the casspir is its successor but the only casspir worth putting on this list is die 2000 they shouldve included more RG series vehicles and some of denels other things just because some made the og light bulb doesnt meant it wont be bettered in 20 years
The matador like many similar vehicles in this range are too light. 10 tons and higher is required to ensure passenger safety. The Caspier was 11 tons and the last one developed but generally unknown was the Strandwolf 17 tons if I remember correctly. But for various reasons it was manufactured in South West and as production was getting going the Border War ended. Sadly that is when the real slaughter and mayhem started and has not stopped escalating since then
By rights most of this list should be South African vehicles, since ISAF, Nato, UN and the USA bought thousands of them. They are probably the only battle proven vehicles out there. Casspir, Nyala, Mamba etc etc.....
South Africa was a WHITE country, why do you think South Africa is so far ahead in infrastructure compared to any other country in Africa? Because it was built by white people including the V-shaped hull. Well, technically they are south africans but they are white nontheless.
South Africa was the world leader in these vehicles, even USA was 40 years behind South Africa. They purchased over 100 Caspiers and copied the design and technology
Number 4 seems at Best for the need of this type of vehicle, However all the rest of them are waste of government money. If I’m wrong tell me why great enormous fleet of all of these different vehicles in all of these different large countries are just sitting decaying away. So they create the war to create to use🤦🏼♂️
What a joke. It left out the first and the best, the Australian Bushmaster. Over 90 were lost in Iraq and Afghanistan and no soldiers were killed. The Australian Army has over 1,000 in service and has enjoyed export success. A general purpose vehicle the Hawkei has also been developed and adopted. How could it be excluded from this clip?
The bushmaster was probably designed and built in South Africa. Sold to Australia 😁. South Africa has proven technology. Look at the CASPIR. It will settle everything.
@@rudolphraath9122 Bushmaster was designed and built in Australia, not Sth Africa. It has a the runs on board with no solders killed whilst used in action in Afganistan.
@@rudolphraath9122 Uhhh... May as well say Ford was probably designed and built in South Africa and Rhodesia's V-hull Leopard doesn't exist. Casspir is pretty darn impressive, but the Bushmaster is also very proven with its impressive track record.
Ok the the truck will survive the I.E.D but its not the vehicle so much its the troops inside that are the target its the Concussion blast that kills inside some take time to pass some get major heart kiddneys lungs all the soft part even eye also some have brain damage at the front of the brain an I.E.D is an all out killer of troops bigger the vehicle thats made begger the I.E.D will be made ,I.E.D. can even take tanks out , but the end of the day the cost of vehicles will out way the cost of cannon fodder
The best army armored cars are in the Russian army. Russian cars pass a much larger test with a large number of detonations. In addition, the conditions are more severe than when testing western analogues
