Great list!! Some other places I would suggest are Bari, Lecce, Capri, Amalfi (the town), Catania & Taormina, Caserta, to name just a few. You cannot go wrong with a trip to Italy -- every region is blessed with amazing towns & cities. A lifetime isnt enough to see it all!
Your video just came up on my recommendations. Four years ago I retired, sold everything, bought a boat in the Mediterranean and decided to take it from France around Italy and into the Adriatic. On the way down the west coast I stopped for a few days each at a number of these towns, and several more not mentioned. After about 9 months, including 6 months in Ostia over winter, I eventually arrived in Tropea to stop for a few days rest before moving on; that was 3 years ago - I’m still here. You did mention our amazing (blue flag) beaches but it’s so much more than that. An Incredibly friendly , medieval old town that’s just been voted “the prettiest town in Italy (Il Borgo Dei Borghi) Within easy reach of the Eolian islands by boat or ferry and surrounded by so many picturesque villages you really need to allow yourself several weeks stay. As for me I’m not going anywhere else so if anyone visits Tropea , come down to the marina and join us for a drink in the lounge bar!
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your travel journey with us. This is such an inspirational story. You made me want to leave everything behind and follow your footsteps! Southern Italy has so much to offer and you are right, we need to allow ourselves at least several weeks to explore. Before starting MultiCityTrips to share our love of European travel, I spent a lot of time in Italy and this part of the country is still my personal favorite. Oh and I also stayed in Ostia for months as well (if you are talking about Ostia that is about one hour out of Rome). Anyway, if we have a chance to visit Tropea again in the future, we'll definitely join you at the marina!
@@MultiCityTrips yeah, in the marina there. Still in touch with a few of the guys there. Did you have the chance to explore Ostia Antica, it’s incredible!
@@MultiCityTrips to be honest if anyone was thinking of going to Rome I would suggest staying in a hotel in Ostia, it’s sooo much cheaper. Depending on where you stay the Metro station is a 10 to 15 minute walk and an all day ticket costs less than €10. With stops by all the main attractions of Rome and going as far as Fiumincino airport Personally I’d recommend the Aron Blue, just outside the marina, with a bus stop just behind that goes to the station. (Mid price) Also the marina is full of bars, restaurants and shops
I have never been to Italy. Now, after watching few of your videos, we have decided to visit Italy this summer in 2023. Your videos are second to none!!! 😮
It's great that you included Calabria in your top 10. I've been there a couple of times. I love it. Beautiful scenery and great food. Very reasonably priced.
So many amazing cities in Southern Italy we couldn't fit them all. Capri is one of our favorites and it deserves a video of its own. We hope to have a video guide on Capri ready hopefully in June.
@@MultiCityTrips Look forward to your Capri videos and share my experiences there especially the Blue Grotto and the iconic Monte Solaro chair lift to the top
In number 4 Catanzaro, you showed Scilla which is a place that I know very well since I have a small house, maybe you could correct that since the two places are far away from each other. Very nice video.
Thank you for wonderful video! It is really interesting and useful! Plus motivate to travel! Cannot wait when all of us start travel again! Thank you for helping to promote tourism!
Thanks for visiting us all the way from Russia! Also thanks so much for your feedback on one of our videos. This truly made our day to know that our content can help motivate others to travel again and at the same time help promoting tourism.
The centre-north is more touristic and organized , but the south, has the greatest architectural variety in Europe ... You can see an intact Greek temple from the 5th century BC. And a giant royal palace of 1700 like Caserta (bigger than Versailles) , baroque churches, ancient towns, and much, much more ... And the coasts, especially in Sardinia and Sicily in many places have a swimming pool water.
You didn’t mention Capo Rizzuto island,Taormina, Agrigento whith the Valle dei Templi(temple’s valley), the Eolie Islands, Egadi islands whith Favignana, Lampedusa island, Polignano a Mare, Vieste and the Gargano promontory, the Salento(the Southern part of the Puglia) and all the Sardegna island. I know is difficult make a list That include all of the beauties of the southern italy because there are a lot!But i like the intention to show this wanderful Places well knowed to the italian and many europeans, to all the Word!
Thanks so much for watching and sharing the list of these beautiful destinations we haven't had a chance to cover in the top ten. We're planning on adding more Southern Italy videos to cover more destinations in the near future.
What to visit to Napels? City of Napels, Pompei, Capri, Procida, Margellina, Positano, Sorrento ,Amalfi Coast, Villa Cimbrone. Then can you visit Rome beacause they are near. Food in Naples in very good: caffé, pizza, pasta with Ragù napoletano, babà rum , sfogliatella. Discover the Pulcinella' Story
That's a really good idea Michelle! Thanks so much for watching and sharing your feedback with us. We'll begin to show places on a map on our upcoming videos.
Great idea for a video as southern ttaly has so much culture and scenery to offer. With that said, if the narrator is going to try to pronounce in Italian, at least apply it to all cities on the list, e.g. Naples should be introduced as Napoli. Be consistent.
Well Plovdiv is the oldest inhabited city in Europe and Damascus in the world, so don’t know were this with Matera comme from, but it’s still beautiful city.
Ten places are few for southern Italy, but some places did not deserve, while others are not there (Messina, Catanzaro); Syracuse, Erice, Noto, Monreale, Taormina, Capri, Sorrento, Caserta, Lecce, Pompeii ...
So sad to read these comments, I wonder what kind of consideration foreigners people have, Italian people are welcoming everywhere 😊 you don't need to be scared at all, criminalization is not different from the one of all other countries in the world..
@@chicagomike What puts me off about the south is the below standard level of service and infrastructure and the dirt and grafitti in a city like Naples. I like going to clean places
Would have to disagree about naples. Scammers galore and garbage tumble weeds blowing around the city when i last visited 10 years ago, unless things have changed.
