So many mistakes in this 'ranking'. 1. USC is NOT a 'public research university' -- it is PRIVATE. When showing Berkeley, the imagery is downtown L.A. -- 360 miles away. When showing CalTech, the image was the capitol building in Sacramento, also ~ 360 miles away.

My closest relatives are from ivy leauge Engineering and Mba programmes. My cousin Rasim Akdogan, master in robotics Engineering alumni of Carnegie Mellon University , number 2nd best Engineering University of whole USA among 5500 usa universities. He is turkish citizen, he is owning Setas Construction İnc and struggling to get Construction bids in Ankara Turkey at age of 60. My other cousin Aylin Çelik has got Mba Finance alumni from Boston University. She has been working at Central Bank of Turkey as turkish citizen and she is just a normal clerk at the bank for 31 years time. Cousin Pelin Çelik is alumni of Brandeis University Mba Finance and she was also Clerk at Central Bank of Turkey until she becomes pensioner after working for 30 years.She is cancer as well at the age of 47. Boston University tuiton is 63.000 USD per year and Brandeis University's Mba program yearly is similar to Boston University's tuition.They are all Turkish citizens, never being demanded from USA , Switzerland where Aylin Çelik had worked for Swiss Central Bank for 1 year in Basel Switzerland couple of years ago. They all earn below 20.000 USD even Rasim Akdogan has financial problems and cannot choose his desired gorgeous woman to marry, he had been introduced to his sister's girlfriend and had married to her forcefully. Prof Dr Numan Cem Balci is alumni of Munich University radiology Departmant, ST Louis Missouri State University Medicine Faculty Doçent and then Prof Dr of radiology and he has been working in Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi without getting his American citizenship , just a turkish citizen with his family, number 18 biggest economy, Secondary School 3rd education level is the Turkey's norm in 2023, Human Development İndex of 49.
Ranking methodology would help explain its rankings. Rankings should have relevance to the student goals. - Does the student want to become an entrepreneur? - Does the student want to work for a large or small employer? - Does the student want to go into research, teaching, industrial applications, ......? This list can go on, and the point is, no one school is #1 for all students. One college may be best for the wannabe hi-tech entrepreneur or researcher, but is it the best for other areas? At a college like MIT students may very well learn as much from other students than from their professors.
And otherwise in engineering and technology you have ETHZurich (Top 6 in the world) and EPFLausanne (Top 10 in the world) in Switzerland with almost free tuition fees (1700 USD/year in 2024). Now students from all over the world want to come and study there at the same level as the Ivy League, the Universities of California or OxBridge but for free!
What’s about UCLA, UCSD, UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, UT Austin, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo? 3:48 These schools ranks high in the world, and having Nobel winners as professors. Why are there more good engineering schools in the west? Because high tech firms are mostly headquartered in the west. Good PhD engineers come to the west to teach and to practice. If you talk about law, political science, the schools in the east have more advantage because political capital is in the east. And USC engineering can’t have higher rank than UCLA engineering.

ALL of the engineering schools in the video and in the list above would be considered "preeminent" institutions by any objective set of standards. Any separation among the above schools is largely subjective and probably not worth any attempt to quantify.
