Really great coverage on the pedal! Glad to see a wide variety of uses/sounds displayed. I'm big on the bands like Kyuss and CoC but it's cool to see everything get covered, a lot of fuzz demos only show one part of what the pedal can do, and often a pretty limited example at that. For the price of a Warlow you could buy an actual Big Muff and a Pro Co Rat. I use a KHDK Unicorn Blood as my fuzz.

I'm after a fuzz pedal but I can't find one that I really like. I've heard one, I think it was on That Pedal Show, that wasn't too rough sounding, it was sort of huge and mushy. But I can't find the video and don't know what it was. This one sounds good though. The Kyuss riff sounds like what I'm after. Also, what is that sparkle purple thing with the 2 P90s? Looks great!

It's not a Muff and Rat in one, it's a specific Big Muff Op Amp pi version that Chris (JPTR FX) has thrown his own spin on but the Rat filter gives you a really wide range of Muff tones imo

Since it’s opamp distortion in this one it’s closer to a rat than other big Muffs are, so depending on what you want it might do the trick but a rat also has this lowcut which a muff doesn’t.

The tonestack explanation and examples are backwards in this video. The muff sounds are the scooped ones and the RAT tonestack is the mid boosted ones.

Oops my bad 😀🤘 I did check with Chris too haha - from website “Switch between the Muff and the Rat style Filter. If the switch is in the position towards the jacks the Muff style filter is engaged, having it towards the footswitch selects the Rat style filter.”

nice video but there is a mistake (I think) talking about the 3 way switch in the site of the JPTR fx brand,reading the description of the pedal regarding the 3 way switch,you can read this: "What does the switch do? Switch between the Muff and the Rat style Filter. If the switch is in the position towards the jacks the Muff style filter is engaged, having it towards the footswitch selects the Rat style filter." so the top position of that miniswitch is the muff style and the bottom one the rat style

I always found op amp Muffs to sound great for single note and power chords, but absolutely terrible for chords; this pedal is the same. They're great if you're looking to sound terrible, which is certainly a thing, just not terribly versatile. EHX could always be depended on to make effects that certainly did interesting things that worked for limited things, but that would never be on a really bare bones pedal board; ring modulators, synth pedals, half cocked wah sound (which with the Cock fight is admittedly more versatile than one might First think).

It’s mostly maths, extreme distortion on an instrument that is in 12TET and exhibits inharmonicity because of steel strings, chords outside of simple relationships will get quite ugly very quickly because harmonics will be fighting each other all over the place.

Guitarist of 25+ years, and I'll admit it; I HATE fuzz... I just don't get why SO many people dig it SO much. To ME, it's the most tired, played-out, generic sound a guitar can make, this side of a wah pedal. And I'll NEVER understand WHY people seem to think that a Big Muff gives them a "massive" or "huge" sound, to ME, it's the EXACT opposite; It sounds TINY and smushed. I usually try to listen on good speakers, but I just had my phone when I watched this, and I can't tell ANY of the notes, LoL... Absolutely no disrespect intended, because you're obviously a VERY good player, but each of these just sound HORRIBLE, and I don't understand why ANYONE would like this sound...

All opinions welcome, but I would say I've only got into fuzz in the last few years. Have you played many fuzz pedals? There's something uniquely inspiring about the tone imo, I find it makes me play and write differently. Problem with most Big Muff pedals (and why you don't see Billy Corgan using one live) is you lose a lot of mids needed when playing with a live band, but pedals like this one offer improvements in that respect so you get a decent mids boost along with the fuzz tone. I'd seriously recommend trying on out for a decent spell - makes strumming chords sound great and gives lead tones a unique flavour and feel :-)
