@@EliteTrainerKenway Not to mention, the only reason why he pitched it in the first place was because he was stuck in developmental for years in spite of his talent and experience and knew that 2004 WWE was never going to give him any screentime otherwise
I liked the gimmick. I just didn't like how nobody helped him out as much when he was getting beat up by HHH, Eric bischoff. Need more baby faces helping him out
I appreciate the shoutout for Number One on this list. Ultimo Dragon stood out to me the first time I was exposed to WCW, and from there I tried learning more about his work. I was super excited when he came to WWE, and I was super sad to see him vanish without much fanfare ever taking place.
@Clayton Marnin. Originally they thought it was going to be Kenny Dykstra, it was him that WWE originally saw big things with. WWE was originally going to pair Dykstra with Orton and Edge as part of Rated RKO, Rated R for Edge, O for Orton, and K for Kenny Dykstra. But WWE nixed that idea and just went for Edge and Orton as a tag team. Then Cena had a short fling with Mickie James while Cena was married at the time, and Mickie was engaged to Dykstra at the time, so because WWE didn’t want drama they put Dykstra on SmackDown then shortly later released him. Then about 6 months later Ziggler re debuted on Raw as Dolph Ziggler.
I remember being in attendance for Cabana/Goldman's last WWE match against Umaga. If I recall correctly, Umaga killed him, then went to walk up the ramp. The ring announcer said some kayfabe thing about how Vickie ordered an immediate rematch, then Umaga went back into the ring and killed him again. This was the same taping where Vladimir Koslov beat Undertaker.
"You know the Cody story? I like the Cody story." Just summed up my life since WrestleMania. Also, as an hornable metion and to quote Adam here: "How do you ruin Richochet WWE? HOW?"
@@TempestLikesWrestling No that isn't true. He got suspended several times then the last time he got suspended they put the kybosh on him for about a year. He didn't get suspended again but they were finished trying with him.
At least he's in a solid place now. A steady presence in the mid card that is fun to watch. Especially watching him murder jobbers in such comedic fashion.
@@luckykoopa9892Maybe earlier in his run yeah. But now he's the jobber. He lost to Wardlow recently, lost to Adam Page, lost his first big match against Cody. AEW use him to get other guys over.
He also mentioned in one interview (I think CVV) that before signing with AEW he came close to going back to WWE. From that interview, I don't think he harbors any ill will towards them
Would be cool to see a "10 wrestlers who didn't live up to/surpassed their potential" style list. Those who everyone wrote off who became big stars or those who had everything and just never went anywhere.
Ultimo Dragon didn't just legacy as amazing performance. His founding of Toryumon has lasting legacy as fan favorite promotion around the world as Dragon Gate. Still to this day.
Ultimo Dragon is a personal favorite of mine. I just thought he looked really cool when I was a kid (I still do btw). Having gone back and watched his matches in his prime, goddamn he was one of the best. It’s a damn shame that his WWE run barely happened.
I will never defend the tone-deafness that was the Eugene gimmick, and considering his talent he's definitely a big what-if. But I think at times people forgot how ridiculously over that character was with the crowds for a good few years.
The Eugene character was Dinsmore's idea, with the idea being that the character was a wrestling savant. But WWE gotta do WWE, and made him extremely distasteful
Come on ! None of those guys had major success anywhere or that much promise to begin with (except Ultimo Dragon). All of that just to blame WWE again.
Say what you will about Jim Cornette, but his story about Doug Basham shaving his head will never not be hilarious. Vince McMahon has never been a creative genius. A lot of WWE’s best ideas where OTHER people’s ideas.
Most of the best things WWE had ever done came down to JR convincing Vince to do something new. If JR had his own promotion in the 90s, it would have crushed WWE, WCW, and ECW
I don't know if it's this guy's voice, or is his mic just, like, not great quality? This is "guy in my TF2 match's voice chat" quality, not "podcasting/voiceover" quality. I think it's that tinny sound/reverb.
I remember going to a house show in Greensboro north Carolina when I was 10 or 11 and remember the feeling of Trent Beretta fighting Tyson Kidd and the crowd chanting USA. With him being American and having a name that reminded me of a car, me being a car nut as a kid, he got over so much that night, and now that I'm 21 watching aew seeing the guy who got over one night in Greensboro in my favorite company, really makes me happy
Except they didn't. Vance Archer and Judas Devlin did. Luchasaurus would have been super over in NXT. Heck Vaudvillains were, No Way Jose, Adam Rose...
Gents, I'm sorry, but I see a list video about BAD/WORST things and Adam ISN'T narrating and I'm immediately disappointed. I like the rest of you guys. I like the entire crew at Wrestle talk. Again, I'm sorry, but Adams snarky comments just can't be beat for lists about bad stuff. Everyone else can tag on on best lists.
If you did your research, you’d realize that Nick Dinsmore came up with the idea for Eugene, he wasn’t just given it. Plus he needed it to stand out, yeah he might’ve been over during those OVW shows that had 7 people in the crowd, but I could not have seen him being over on the main roster like this list makes you think he would’ve been, no way, not on global television
Listen to Jim COrnette rail on WWE Creative when he saw Doug Basham (his main Star in OVW) coming back from WWE with a shaved head. It is a classic rant.
In fairness, a lot of these guys did hit their ceilings in WWE in my opinion Doug Basham wasn't good on the mic and wasn't an exceptional wrestler Jesse never developed plain and simple Lance Archer was too developmental and WWE wasn't willing to wait for him Matt Sydal was successful in WWE and any holdback was due to breaking wellness Nick Dinsmore had a long-tenured career in WWE and was part of one of Regal's best feuds Ultimo was held back by injury The only clear miss opportunity for me is Colt Cabana and Trent
This is just Tempest’s hate of WWE that fuels this video. Apparently, he also doesn’t understand the world was a different place back in the Ruthless Aggression Era and earlier.
@@name3236 who had injury and retired for 4years if i remember well, no he wasn't as good as he used to be, and ultimo drago isn't known for his character work
Not only that but Doug Basham aka The Machine vs Damaja (Danny Basham) was a super hot feud. Basically they took two guys who hated each other and the next week are brothers lol.
Nick Dinsmore would never have gotten over as himself. Eugene was a brilliant gimmick. So I disagree with that one. Also Evan Bourne had a good run but got injured too much. And he's basically enhancement in AEW so yeah...but the other 8 I'll agree on.
Ironically enough, WWE botched two generations of Gordys. Terry Gordy spent half a cup of coffee in the Fed carrying a Halloween Express plastic battle axe as the Executioner.
Bourne's exit from WWE was pretty sad, got hurt and suspended at the same time for drugs and then never returned despite being signed for over a year following his last TV appearance Also, The Eugene gimmick was Nick Dinsmore's idea but only because he wasn't receiving a call up despite his good time in OVW
10 celebrities that act like wrestlers? Kanye West x 5 Pete Davidson (moving like triple H in the 2000’s) Cardi B Paul Gascoigne Donald Trump And Mr blobby
I feel like you missed an opportunity to mention Dusty Rhodes. He was the biggest star in the NWA and they made him dress in polka dots and dance like a clown.
