In 2012, a NASA spacecraft made the clearest record yet of choruses of noise in the Earth’s magnetosphere. The chirps and whoops were captured by one of NASA’s two launched Radiation Belt Storm Probes, whose mission was to understand space weather to a greater extent. Sometime after, Craig Kletzing, the experiment principal investigator, joked that his wife calls it alien birds. Thanks for the video idea craig’s wife! No but seriously, after hearing those eerie, birdlike sounds, I began to wonder what birds of our world actually sound like aliens. I narrowed the list down to 10 birds. If there’s any birds that didn’t make the list that you think should have, make sure to say so in the comments below.

Amazing video! I shudder to think how much work this was for you, with all the different media you included. Fascinating, engaging, and entertaining! A couple of bird-related comments: 1) We have the *common* grackle in my area, and while their vocalizations are not particularly alien, they do this weird thing where they puff themselves up as much as they can, lift their beaks, and squeeeeak. 2) The "whisper song" of the blue jay reminds a lot of people of R2D2, though your birds definitely sound more like him/it. I have examples on my channel, if you want to see. Thank you so much for putting this together!

Hello again my friend! I’m glad you enjoyed. You would be correct, this video took around a month to make haha. We have some common grackles too, do you find them annoying as well?? Blue Jay is a great bird to include I’ll have to check that out on your channel!

@@J_Birds I have grown to love the common grackles who visit me. I certainly prefer them to the invasive starlings and house sparrows who infest this area. I can see why people would find them annoying, but I've come to think they're underrated. But then, I started my channel to post videos of crows, and many people find them VERY annoying!

We have a bunch of great tailed grackles where I live. At first glance I thought it was a crow at first until they made those weird calls that they made. I don’t necessary hate these birds but they aren’t an interesting bird to look at. To me, they feel like a gang of teenagers causing ruckus. But it’s always surprising to know that they made these weird sounds.
