Demo, at this point, try to get an affiliate link for CardMarket for us EU spellslingers. Just for this vid, just bought Peacekeeper & Hall of Gemstone (for my Scythis; Serra Sanctum the other day as well), Hanna's Custody (for my Boros generals).
Word, all mtg youtubers have links for the US Market, I have yet to see one who covers Europe. And since they are not in direct competition, they should be able to promote one affiliate link each.
there is no cardmarket affiliated link not like for us traders. you receive boni for introducing new people to the website but not for someone buying a card. and that would be fucking stupid anyways because cardmarket does not sell cards themselves. they just provide the platform, they have no say in prices or anything. they take 5% of the selling price and that's it. think, for once, before you type
Once one of my opponents played a hall of gemstones thinking he was gonna be all cool and stax us in green, until he realized we were all playing mono color. It was glorious
Guild Feud is funny in Xenagos, any deck that plays lots of big creatures. Hall of gemstone is on the reserved list Hatred is also on the reserved list, it is rather amazing how long it took to start going up in price. I love using it in Willowdusk despite sorcery clause on their ability and Hatred being an Instant but can quickly close out games with a simple little Vampire Nighthawk.
I’m attempting to build a budget Vavaecdtis Asmadi deck, and cards like Guildhall Feud work stupendously. Trying to build the whole deck on a budget, however...
dang, i remember when the command zone first talked about Hatred briefly in one of their older podcast episodes, and i was like "pay at most 20 life, and now any commander with black can insta-kill with commander damage? I'm sold" So at the time I bought one for around $10. It's crazy how this card has quadrupled in price.
Guild Feud is really fun in any deck that wants to reanimate or cheat out big creatures. I run it in my Feldon deck and it is a blast. Very unreliable, but it mills you and you can politic to let people take a spin to get ETBs or big creatures of their own.
Thanks for Guild Feud! I have one Ur-Dragon dragon tribal deck and i really like this type of effects here. Once upon a time i stack Kodama of the East Tree, Maelstrom Nexus and Sunbird's Invocation under haste and Kindred Discovery... Dreams.. :)
I owned one as a kid and it felt like cheating. We have the same life total, I hit you with a flyer and 5 mana up, game is just over. Wish I could still find the copy, it would be perfect in my Liesa life gain deck.
@@Wojtek36762 yeah, I bought one recently, and after dropping $50+ I had an immediate regret thinking it was too good and that I probably bought a banned card spur of the moment!
I used to have a Legacy Temur Slivers deck that ran this. The only non-creature/non-land cards were Fire // Ice and Assault // Battery. It was quite fun!
I have a soft spot for Haazda Shield Mate. He won me a very important chaos draft once with a Revised Underground Sea as the prize. Also, Hatred is well know for having one of the best (if not THE best) flavor text in all magic.
Oooooh, I just thought of how good guided passage would be in a Primal surge meme deck. Having Primal surge as the only nocreature nonland in the deck could be actually pretty strong
Hall of gemstones, no cap, won me a game today. Literally forced my opponents to play sub standard turns rather than kill me (which they absolutely could have done) during the turn rotation.
Hall of Gemstones is FINALLY on this series lol. I have played that card on so many 4/5 color decks that they just start crying in mono-colors when it hits the table with my playgroup. Thing I do like to note about hall of gemstones that you didnt mentioned is that players could play cards without the mana restriction in response to the trigger, forcing spell slinger decks to plan their turns during players upkeep.
Hand to Hand and Guild Feud have been two of my long time favorites as a person who plays red in almost All of his decks(only 3 non red decks out of 20+). Guild Feud in particular does justice beyond repair in my Olivia deck tribal I can bully someone with dangerous creatures, WITH THEIR CREATURES
Hall of Gemstone always get a bad reptutation of being a stax card, it isn't much of a card many players like to play against. Sure it's similar to Blood Moon, but again it's just one of those "staxy" cards everyone hates. Some of the other cards were really fun to see, and some I would add, but I've always gotten a bad reaction with a "Hall of Gemstone" I wouldn't recommend playing it in a deck, it just drastically slows down the game if it stays too long and usually only benefits one person most of the time. I'm sure someone gonna say otherwise it's fine!
Guild Feud would actually be interesting in a deck like Osgir. Boros doesn't have a whole lot of mill and this would just be one way to get artifacts in the graveyard with the getting creatures onto the battlefield is just a plus
What I particularily love about combat tricks like hatred in commander is that it doesn't always need to buff your own guy. There are a ton of commanders that just want you to swing, so why not have your opponents oneshot each other.
This reminds me of something that happened in one of my first ever commander games. I was playing a friend's Karlov deck, and all 4 players were playing modified versions of C15 starter decks (Meren, Kalemne, Karlov and Ezuri). Ezuri player started getting out a HUGE board, but all small creatures. Kalemne player's turn, gets a counter for her, so he attacks Ezuri player with 4/4 double-striker. Ezuri player didn't want to chump block, said "yeah I'll take 8, that's fine". Me, trying to work out what you are and aren't allowed to do in EDH: "errr, can I cast a spell now? Yeah? Ok, I cast Tainted Strike on Kalemne" Shocked silence, Kalemne and Meren players burst out laughing at the look of abject horror on the Ezuri player's face.
Guardian beast would only be good if it gave artifacts hexproof and make them non-sacrifice-able. As well as be indestructible and with hexproof itself. Thats the only time I’d run a black do nothing creature for almost $1000. For once a terrible idea. (Edit: as you yourself put it every video, board wipes in commander are ALWAYS being thrown around.)
I put Hall of Gemstone in a deck of mine and after playing it once, I took it out. It's a pretty hard Stax piece akin to Contamination, Blood Moon, or other things of that sort. It doesn't just hose counterspells, it prevents players from casting ANY multicolor spells unless they have sufficient mana rocks. It's definitely not a "fun effect." It totally ruined the game I played with it. I'd say it's not as bad as Contamination but less offensive than Blood Moon because two color decks with basics can still function pretty well under Blood Moon while that's not so with Hall out there.
I play Hammer Mage in my Mairsil deck. Just two days ago, I dropped it turn 2 and activated it turn 3, taking out a Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, and a guild Signet. It slowed my opponents a ton and dropped a card in graveyard that I caged the next turn anyway.
I play guided passage on my omnath, locust of creation deck, and it always is a good card, even in the worst case scenario i get something that sinergizes
Gutter Grime is pretty bad as well, if it didn’t specify “non-token creature dies” or “you control” this card would be playable in non-golgari decks. Seems like a do nothing card unless you’re playing aristocrats in green/black. Even then you need the set up in the form of other creatures with etb/death triggers and a sacrifice outlet. For 5 mana and too many restrictions I’d have a hard time not just playing some type of zombie or squirrel generating enchantments/effects.
it's more of a quality over quantity enchantment. It won't be crazy the first turn it comes out, but it only gets better the longer it sticks around. The thing that makes it great is that it doesn't pump out a 1/1, then a 2/2, etc etc. It buffs all the previous tokens, so it gets exponentially more powerful. As in, the amount of power it puts out per counter goes from 1, to 4, to 9, to 16, 25, 36, etc. It's like a faster more controllable Assemble the legion in green. I'd think of it more as a way to win the game and push damage then another token generator card, which at 5 mana, makes more sense then another value engine.
Damn, now Im hoping Guardian Beast gets a reprint in a commander pre-con or something for the sake of lowering his price. He's one of those expensive cards that isn't busted enough to remain over 800 bucks. He's neat, but he shouldn't be that expensive.
I've never heard about Hall of Gemstones and I'm buying one right away. You mentioned that it indirectly makes all your spells during your turn uncounterable, but it's more than that. It does not only "hurt" multicolor decks, they can't even play their multicolor spells!! That shuts down everyone commander except the ones playing monocolor!!
Hand to Hand would be great in any mono red, Boro deck, except you HAVE to play it during your main phase and therefore players can respond to it by destroying the threat preemptively instead of waiting until the last second. Although it does stop a lot of fog effects but I’ve never seen anyone run any type of fog effects other than a cantrip or two.
I used to run hatred in a Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter. However, that deck was taken from me, I bought the card for like 15$ before it got expensive, like most cards that never get reprints.
now hammer mage i never actually thought of that for the treasure but it may not need to be a discarrd theme you could also put it in a deck that you can easily get the card back in hand or straight into play for example kenrith the returned king if you discard a creature just simply use the black ability on kenrith to get it in play
For Hatred I’d have to be running a rakdos deck with chandra’s ignition and my commander in play. Pull out hatred and with the game with commander damage.
