I buy stuff in Harbor Freight all the time. All those tools you bought I also have and are good, with the exception of the drill bits. The hex will spin free when you're doing an important job. I bought them for quick change purpose when using my impact driver. Won't buy them again. I'll just use my regular chuck driver with regular drill bits. One thing I love at Harbor Freight is the big rolling tool cabinets, but I just don't have the room for one.☹️. A favorite tool is the 5 in one flush cutting tool. I use it all the time. I think it was $20. Remember to use real goggles when using those wire wheels. They can throw those wires when you least expect it. 😊👍
Oooh never heard of the hex coming loose on the drill bits! I'm mostly using them for wood, plastic, and thin metal. I broke one already, I forget on what, but I remember it being my fault. Good note though! I also plan to get another rolling too chest from them at some point. I'll have to look into the flush cutters. Yes I have def had my run ins with flying wires from those wheels, including one sticking into my forehead and I didn't know why my face hurt until I went inside and saw in the mirror, hahaha. Thanks a ton for the comment!
A great choice of tools most folks didn't think they need until you are working on that job and then, darn I could use such and such! Also 18mm is used on Dodge products a fair bit.
Wait, all this time you didn't have a pry bay set? Pretty cool haul there! I could definitely use a real wheel chock since I currently use replaced GTO parts to keep my Crosstrek from rolling away. Also, I never got an alert or anything for this video. Weirdly only saw it on my home page a day or two ago when I couldn't watch it. Just now got around to it. Weird! It says I still have notifications on. I was far from home when this came out, though, so maybe I had no signal at the time.
Correct. I had many pry bar like implements, hahaha. Wheel chocks are def a must for me. Weird you didn't get an alert, but that's life. I assume you have notifications set to all and not personalized? This video is performing well at least.
Definitely set to all. I am pretty sure they make one attempt to push a notification, and because I was in a dead zone, I missed out. Good that this video is doing well, though!
@@WalnutPancakes Cars are stressful, hahaha. Yes I've been staying busy. I've gained over 150K followers on TikTok so I've been focusing on that more until I can release a big V10 swap feature video. You should try it, hah. The car scene on there is blowing up.
@@WalnutPancakes 100% it has evolved like crazy. Every age group and interest niche is on there. Middle aged postal worker TikTok? Sure. Teenagers gardening in the city TikTok? Yep. Dogs having existential crises TikTok? You got it. Medieval combat TikTok? Hoo yeah. The automotive scene has absolutely blown up though and I got over 4,000 subs on RU-vid directly from TikTok in 4 months. It's crazy. www.tiktok.com/@802garage if you wanna check my page out. You don't need the app. Ignore my latest vid that was a parody of someone else and also the Harlem Shake vid was just a fun collab. Usually I make more serious car content. Been focused on the V10 build.
Yeah, the 10mm flare wrench has actually been disappointing to me, though it has come in handy a few times already. Hard to buy good tools on a budget, but buying just the ones you need used is a great idea!
A neat & cute addition to this fine presentation, mon ami, would have been a large map of China, with different coloured pin-heads designating the various cities/regions where all these tools were hammered together.
Hahaha I honestly wish I knew! Incredible they can even sell much of this stuff for the money. I know it's often at the expense of the workers. Hard to think about. Also wonder if they would have jobs if I didn't buy? There are many imbalances in the world. Wish I had better solutions. At any rate, rambling. Thanks for you comment as always!
One online order from an auto parts store accidentally(?) revealed the city of origin of the floor jack I bought on the manifest. It was a store brand item. I may still have the sheet somewhere since I found it interesting, but it's lost for sure if I haven't trashed it.
@@CarsSimplified Hahaha. The turbo upgrade parts I bought recently came direct from China and came with the factory manifest that showed the price in USD. It was around 1/4-1/5 of what I paid, which was interesting. Especially given there are other companies that charge double or more what I paid for the same parts, but they just have a logo and a brand name.
Wow I'm surprised such a cheap heat gun has lasted so long! I figured even if it dies I can afford to replace it, hah. Thanks and yes the prybars are def helpful.
I like the combination wrenches because the aren’t as thick as other higher end stuff. It seems like bs but there a few things that I need that skinny wrench.
Absolutely know where you are coming from. Sometimes the good tools are literally more than you need. Plus these wrenches you can literally grind down, weld on, whatever you have to do and not feel bad because they are like a buck a piece or less.
Majority of my HF tools have been good except for my Pittsburg torque wrench. I bought years ago, only used a couple times. Then it somehow broke itself/locked up, just by sitting in storage.
@@802Garage I used to have one about 3 miles away from my house. My son worked there for a summer job...and I got his employee discount which was 25% all the time. Now I have one around 7 miles away. Still dangerously close.
bro i need to request u one think, can u make PCP air rifle compressor for Painting air compressor cause i need to use my painting aircompressor for filling my pcp air rifle😁😁😁 but i dont know howto do....
Hmmm. I'm not 100% sure I understand your request. You should just need a standard air hose, fittings, and a regulator that mounts to the spray gun to control the pressure. As long as your air compressor can keep up with the flow rate needed, you're good to go. Just so you know, in English we usually say spray gun or paint gun, not rifle. Thanks for the comment hope I can help.
@@repairvehicle Nah. I think at the peak I was making about the same on both. Right now growth on TikTok is a lot harder and views are much more dependent on putting out consistent content vs evergreen content on RU-vid. Overall it definitely takes less effort to start making money on TikTok and way less time invested per dollar return, but it's definitely going to vary by person and many factors. I plan to release a lot more on RU-vid soon I've just really been focusing effort on the V10 project.
@@repairvehicle Definitely. The plan is to get the engine in and a first start and then I'll be posting a huge vid as well as the build series. I'm well behind schedule, but def not stopping. If you have other questions about TikTok feel free to ask or DM me on Facebook/Instagram.
They just recently opened a Harbor Freight in my town recently, I used to have to drive 15 minutes away to get to their tools but still love shopping there.
Yeah I know in Canada they have Canadian Tire or whatever it's called. Plus Princess something. Not sure they really have a cheap ass tools equivalent in Asutralia? Definitely nifty if you're on a budget.
@@802Garage we have SuperCheap stores for car stuff and Bunnings for hardware, but a heat gun, for example, is aout 30 to forty bucks at either, nothing like HF
@@802Garage Princess Auto is the equivalent to Harbor Freight in Canada. Like HF, they have their own store brand called "Power Fist" which comes with lifetime warranty on most, if not all, hand tools.
Unless you have a set of wrenches that go to 32mm, you DON'T have a set of wrenches Aaron. 😎👍 Good choice with pry bars, Also, NYLON for wire wheel. I already taught Preston to change to them, now it's time to teach you too. 😛 Nylon > Steel/Brass.
Hahaha I'm a failure then. I actually do have some larger wrenches, but like a random assortment. Anything that big I tend to go to sockets. Nylon wire wheels are good for cleaning/prepping sealing surfaces. My wheels mostly see abuse cleaning rust off metal and the nylon will die a quick death I figure. Unless I'm missing something. Lots of bolt thread cleaning. I def don't use the steel on aluminum flat surfaces or anything.
@@802Garage It's to do with not having wires fly off and hitting your face and stuff like that. I use them for taking layers of paint or powdercoat off, or as you have seen on Crustida, taken entirely Crusted parts back to shiny af. 😎👍
@@MafiaboysWorld Ahhh yes. I have experienced that! I actually had a wire stick into my forehead once and I kept rubbing it thinking I had a bug bite. Wasn't until I came inside and saw it in the mirror I realized, hahaha.
Everyone trashes HF and understandably so, but my father got most of his hand tools in his early 20s from there, and all of them with a few exceptions hes passed on to me now that he’s able to buy the nicer stuff. We’ve both used them a lot and haven’t had any issues. PS: just don’t buy any power tools from there. Save the money to buy dewalt, Milwaukee, or hitachi
Yeah I agree. If you're irresponsible with tools, you're going to break them, but even the cheap stuff usually works. The one I always tell people to avoid is their locking jaw pliers. Worthless! Hahaha. Agreed on the cordless though. Go with a well established brand that has a wider lineup. Just wait for sales if you are really hurting for money.
Your shit is great sir, Love it. Also I feel like your a mom telling me about all the savings you got at the store on meat or something LOL. But I loved this video, very good info man!
A lot of these are more like "oldies, but goodies" however I had resisted buying them for far too long. You were second according to the time sorting, sorry. I still appreciate, hahaha.
I meant 1st like, but i suppose I was second comment, they recently opened a HF in my town so I no longer have to drive 15 minutes to get to them, and some of these, I will definitely check out I already had a few of these tools, but i like the pry bar set that looks like it will come in handy I'll be hitting them up soon for supplies.
Yeah I'm actually looking to get one in the not too distant future. I'm def out of tool storage again. Still need to clean the garage out a bit more first.
@@802Garage they are sturdier than any tool boxes from the big hardware stores, they hold more weight wise and they come with mat's in the drawers, they slide open and close with ease even under a load.
@@zero_____given Yeah I have the lowest end Craftsman tool boxes and they are flimsy AF. I've used a General box before and it was loads better. Def my next buy.
You should do a video on tool organization once you get another box and re-organize! Explain why you want some tools easy to get to, some in the back of the deep drawer, etc., and tool stories.
Just been pretty focused on the V10 build and TikTok. I def need to edit something for RU-vid though before the V10 is ready. Thanks for the kick in the bum. :)
@@Mike-we3rb Weird that they decided to use 18, hahaha. But I'm coming from a Japanese car background where JIS standard is 17. I don't think they should skip 18 anymore given how common they are though.
@@802Garage Nope. :D The closest equivalent would be "Brico Depot", I suppose, but there's no way I would get as many tools for that cheap from there. :P
😂😂😂 I pretty much only use them for quick light duty work. I go to beefier stuff for drilling out bolts and whatnot. Good heads up though. When the whole set cost as much as one high quality drill bit would, you know it's a bit sus.
@@TrumpForPresident-dp4my So then your original comment doesn't make sense if you don't actually believe getting an education is helpful? Not sure what your intent was in the first place other than being vaguely insulting. Something in particular about this video that seems uneducated? Happy to hear your insightful feedback.
@@802Garage no now your just twisting my words an education is very important but to an extent a degree nowadays doesn’t mean anything I make 160,000$ with just a grade 12
@@TrumpForPresident-dp4my I'm not twisting your words. I'm pointing out that you contradicted your own insult. You just did it again. You said education is very important, but you're making good money without higher education. So which is it? You just want people to finish high school and that's all? Seems strange to me when we need so many engineers and technical workers so we stop outsourcing jobs or importing skilled workers. My degree is in programming, by the way. It's a rather valuable degree in today's world.
Uhhh, I'm not sure I understand your sentiment. What about when you need the chisel point to fit into a small space? Or when you want a flat surface instead of round? Breaker bars like to slip out of everywhere because they are round. I think you are handicapping yourself, honestly.
@@802Garage yeah I completely understand that and it has slipped out plenty of time. I agree with the handicapping part also. I have a long screw driver too. Until I need a dyer reason for one I won’t get one
