I'm driving a 2016 grand caravan and I have no problem at all after 170 000 km. The only repair i have done is replacing the break pads at 140 000 km. I ve got a really good car.
I'm on my third transmission and my only has 250000 miles. It's also a 2018 turns out. The computer was bad and the shop just kept telling me. I needed a transmission when in all actuality. I just needed a computer.
I have been driving a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan SE for the last 10 years. No issues whatsoever. Great car. But I am a maintenance nut. All fluids look like brand new all of the time. Tire rotations, trans service, brakes. I do it all early and regularly. I am the only one to ever service this vehicle from day one. The car has not seen a dealership since I bought it. I don't let anyone touch my van and she's strong, quiet and dependable.
Bought my 2013 in 2015. It’s my wife’s wheelchair transport. With 54,000miles, it needs a new transmission. Also, the drivers side headrest deployed the other day for no reason. It will cost around $700 to replace.
I have driven probably dozens of these at work for transportation service they aren't that bad they do require some maintenance but honestly nothing crazy The two main issues that come up frequently with them are running hot and I've never driven one with a transmission that felt like it was functioning properly
BASED. That same 6 speed trans is in all 4 of our DGV's well as my wife's Avenger and all of them are HORRIBLE. Dealer did a re-map on the 2012 Avenger not to long after we got it and it did no good. Even the stealerships will tell you these trannies were always crappy shifters and often problematic. Knock on wood we've never dropped one, but them damn failing needle bearings on the valvetrain rockers that ALL go bad round the 200K mark wiping cam lobes out. Gotten to be an expert on changing them and it is irritating!
I have 2015 caravan and beside hitting a moose it was still able to drive to my house witch was another 30 minutes away. It still runs great love my van took my family through blizzards, winter studded tire is the way to go
I purchased my 2018 dodge caravan SE 10 months ago and today it started making a whining noise under the hood then it wouldn't drive unless I turned it off to get a little power the incline was a problem
I bought a Dodge Grand caravan At the auction, the exchange rate is not passing the march He engages the neutral and the drive all right but when he goes to walk he doesn't change the gear it's only in second gear. Can someone help me?
If you smell gasoline during heavy acceleration in your Dodge Grand Caravan, it is not normal and should be investigated further by a qualified mechanic. While there are some mild fuel smells that may be considered normal under certain circumstances, such as on a hot day when the fuel has expanded, a strong gasoline smell during acceleration is a cause for concern. A gasoline odor may indicate a fuel leak or an issue with the fuel system that could potentially lead to a fire or other serious safety hazards.
It sounds like there may be an issue with the speed sensor or the wiring connecting the sensor to the speedometer. The speed sensor is a small device located on the transmission or transaxle that sends a signal to the speedometer to display the vehicle's speed. When the sensor or wiring becomes faulty, it can cause intermittent problems like the speedometer turning off and on suddenly. This issue can also cause inaccurate speedometer readings or a speedometer that doesn't work at all.
I had a 2016 67,000 miles three bad motors ,three bad computers battery replacement every month blower motors tail lights flywheel cracked in half transmission replaced once 13,000 in repairs noone would take it in on trade leaving the shop it broke down again I left it on the side of the road with the title an a big lemon on it I will never buy a Chrysler again car an driver named it the lemon tree of rove ranger
😂😂😂mine just reach 200k 1gen ! Of 2012 … before Obama made the law and dodge change to different oils ! Mine is still quieter then and older ! Make no sense ! 😂
Misleading title. This is not in anyway “10 common problems,” this is just a list of recalls. Check your VIN to see if it has any pending unresolved recalls. Don’t see any? Then you don’t have any of these “common problems.” This video is pointless click bait.
The video didn't include the most widely known problems with the caravan, specifically the oil filter housing and the cam followers. That said, I've had 11 vehicles from 9 different manufacturers over the years, and our 2013 Caravan is the most reliable vehicle of the lot. It has 265k Atlantic Canada kms on it now and it's still in great shape.
You forgot that "quirky shifting" trans and all of the DGCV's having that annoying rear left rattle over bumps. We've had 4 of them in our fleet now and all 4 had the same pesky issue with the cam roller bearings wiping out cam lobes round 200K. 1 to 2 day fix, but a pricey fix for new cam(s) and all new rockers/lifters. Other issue (the we've never had) is the "clutches" on the alternators. OEM brakes were another issue but we learned early on to get the "high carbon" ones from AZ or better yet the slotted/cross drilled ones for the front and have yet to have any warped rotors even under the worst of braking. My biggest complaint.... THE QUIT MAKING THEM!
I have a 2010 dodge grand caravan SE, 200,000 kms , Is there anybody with this problem, I stereo, disk player works fine, however I have this happen everyday, if you can remember what a VCR machine sounded like , I have 3 separate sounds, but does not seem to be coming from disk area, sounds coming from deeper into dash, any help with suggestions greatly appreciated, I may have to take to remove dash,
2015 SE, 2016SE, 2018 SE and 2020GT..... All been great with only issues being crappy OEM rotors and needle bearings on the rockers going round the 200K mark and wiping out cam lobes. Aftermarket high carbon or front crossed drilled/slotted rotors and the upgraded rockers round 185K, and WELLA.... 3 of the 4 trucks now have 300K on them.
Ty for educating US.. I had to get my Oil Pump replaced twice within 2 yrs on a 2014 where it had $ 36,000 kms when I got it in 2022 (1st time $3,000 & now (Feb. 24/24) it is warrantied with Dodge). Should I b requesting my $3,000 back ?
A number of years ago I found a problem with a 1996 Plymouth electrical system. It caught on fire just down the street from work.Luckily, I had an available fire extinguisher to fight it right away. Problem was that it kept re-igniting. Luckily, I also had a wrench set available to disconnect the battery. The last shot from the fire extinguisher got it out. My garage-man replaced the wiring harness and in the process discovered the cause. There was a metal tie-down clip on the alternator that had slowly melted though the wire insulation on the heavy guage wire going directly to the battery. I contacted the Canadian Transportation Safety Department in Ottawa and they had me ship the burnt harness to them for analysis. Turns out that they had many engine fires on that model and thought that it was due to a fuel leak. But there had also been fires while parked overnight and even in owers garages. Turns out that few of these Caravans were still on the road and they couldn't justify a re-call.
Missed a few. Plastic oil cooler housing prone to failure (and buried under upper and lower intakes). Also plastic y splitters in the heater hoses very prone to failure.
The oil cooling sending unit on my 2011 Dodge Caravan failed last winter. At first I thought my engine block had cracked wide open due to the large amounts of oil running down the side of the engine and all over the top of the transmission. When I would drive, it would leave a trail of oil wherever I went, especially when taking turns. Thankfully, I had got it replaced and no issues since.
@@RealKansasMan I had that happen and it was so bad I lost all my oil. Had it towed to the shop who replaced the cooler. One month later I developed engine tick from the roller bearings probably as a result of them being starved of oil for that brief moment. Van lasted another year like that before the transmission went.
2019 DGC here. 100000km. My only issue is cracked vinyl on the drivers seat, and the common paint bubbles on the aluminum hood. Aside from that so far so good. Love this thing.
Nothing mentioned about the engineering flaw of the radiator, the oil cooler assembly failures, the lifter recall, the heater hose y fittings, or the 62te transmission problems, to name a few. I own a 2014 with 173k and it has been a great vehicle, tranny gave out at 163k($3500) and just had to replace/upgrade the oil cooler assembly with an aluminum assembly($700) because it was leaking from the oil pressure sending unit plug itself.
Happened to me once driving down the highway. I was in my 1987 full size Chevy K5 Blazer 350... 6" lift 36" swampers. The hood popped up smashed against my roof and I had to stick my head out my window to see so I could pull over. Was pissed.
I have driven my two Grand Caravans over 200,000 miles each. I had to replace the fuel pump on one and an A/C compressor on the other one. They both ran great and were dependable cars. Caravans are my favorite car... I'm buying a 2020 Caravan next month. They should have never stopped making them... also, they maintain their resale value better than most cars.
I have a 2016 grand caravan, first owner, got 135000 km, I recently have Transmission problem on my vehicle, checked with dealership they said my vin is not included in the recall for Transmission issue recall S44, so I ended up spending $7000 on my vehicle...
Same here, must not have any of these problems But actually some of the 2013 cars do have some different problems that are a bit more serious...like the fact that some of them have the airbags programmed wrong and will deply the wrong side in a crash
I have a 2011 DGC and had to replace my front rotors 3 times from warping. The braking power is not sufficient for the weight of the vehicle and they tend to overheat. Other than that, best vehicle I ever owned. Still runs and looks great at 260k km.
Had that problem on a 2012. Totally resolved it with a Power Stop K3118-36 Front Z36 Truck & Tow Brake Kit. Quiet, smooth, and powerful braking. Almost no dust. Totally satisfied.
I got 13 Dodge Grand Caravan for my son, now the vehicle more than 200 thousand miles already, except for maintenance, we had to replace 1 battery and a Torque converter. Still run good now. Lucky 😂😂😂
I'm in my 80s and over the years have had more Fords than all the other brands together. My last two Fords were so bad that I decided I would never buy another Ford (Tempo and Topas) several of my kids had Tauruses. All nice cars but frequency of repair was awful, the Tempo was the worst car I have eveer owned. . arround 2001 we boiught our first (used) Dodge caravan sold it at 180,000 miles (awesome little car) and bought a 2016 caravan plus in 2003 we bought a new Dodge ram. All three have been excellent trouble free cars, better than any of the Fords we owned in the past. We love our 2016 caravan . It just turned over 100,000 miles and has been completely trouble free. This video sounds kind of fishy to me.
Second owner of my 2014 DGC. Only issue is a very small leak on the main seal and in at 215000 kms This video was pretty ominous haha. Hope I do t run into any of these issues. Cheers.
