These movie actors were all given a hard no for some pretty barmy reasons! For more awesome content, check out: whatculture.com/ Follow us on Facebook at: / whatculture Catch us on Twitter: / whatculture
I always say this when it comes up, but OJ Simpson NOT getting the Terminator role cuz people couldn’t see him as a killer will never NOT be ironic (in a sad, dark way)
John Green just released a video about the upcoming film adaptation about his book, The Turtles All the Way Down, where he talks about not liking Hollywood too much because of how they treat people and he mentions that one of the adaptations of another one of his books was canceled right before filming started because a Hollywood executive told him he didn't like an actor because his eyes were too far apart.
Just captivated the world as Edward Scissorhands? What? There was 10 whole years between that film and American Psycho. I'm glad the studio didn't just give in and waited for Mary Harron and Christian Bale.
I dont think the role would have suited Depp anyway. I've seen a lot of his movies and while he comes across often as a dark brooding type, there's never anything really sinister about him.
That’s what I was thinking. I know it’s not exactly the reason Rooney Mara got the role but it’s funny (in a WOW! sort of way) to imagine someone told her she was perfect cuz she wasn’t sexy enough
@@BR-jw7pm Yeah. That would be a weird thing to have to deal with. I'm a good actor so I can play this role, but I'm not too sexy for it which means I'm not sexy?
Specific examples weren't given, but when Jane Seymour was around 30 she said in an interview that she'd when auditioning she'd been told she didn't get parts for being too beautiful.
Was Johnny Depp right for the role of Patrick Bateman? Probably not. But a "lightweight actor!?" Chameleon Johnny Depp!? Love him or hate him,you can't tell me that guy isn't a great actor.
Always thankful that we got Hugh Jackman as Wolverine instead of Russell Crowe. A lot of people complain about the height, but imagine have a bald Wolverine and not his iconic style that they actually copied for the movies. Its even funnier that we almost got Glenn Danzig as Wolverine at first and he was the perfect height and build for Wolverine at the time, but in hindsight, Hugh Jackman still turned out for the best.
Ooh. G.A. is a closer match to Jodie Foster than Julianne Moore is. The problem would seem to be that her character is a closer match to Clarice than just "detective." Aren't Dana Scully and Clarice both Special Agents? It'd be all kinds of distracting to see Scully reassigned to catching Hannibal. (Same token as how it was a mite challenging to ignore that James Bond's able leader, post-battlefield promotion, was Voldemort and the sus auxiliary tech guy they were stuck with was Moriarty.)
_#10-_ I ready knew about that one _#9-_ I sadly knew about this one too... *sigh* _#8-_ I'm pretty sure that I've already heard about this entry P.S.‐‐‐> _I ABSOLUTELY LOVED ROBIN WILLIAMS!!!_ _#7-_ I'm _ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN_ that I've heard this one a few different times _#6-_ Now idk if I've heard about this one or NOT _#5-_ Ok, I think literally everyone's heard about this one at least once in their life before _#4-_ Yeah, I DEFINITELY remember hearing about that one _#3-_ I'm 💯٪ positive that I've NEVER EVER heard anything about that one before _#2-_ I've heard this one a few years ago _#1-_ This one's just flat out ridiculous!!!... I can't believe that somebody actually said that to Scar-Jo... of _ALL OF THE PEOPLE IN THE WORLD..._ so, do you get what I'm trying to say?
@1:00 all bond actors are prohibited from wearing tuxedos in any other role while they are active "james bond". in thomas crown affair, pierce brosnan wore a tux but without a tie.
@@i.ronbutterfly8068 OK. On the assumption that you aren't trolling... No. Irish is not the same as British. Hence (for example) Ireland is part of the EU and Britain very definitely isn't. And while Northern Ireland is part of the UK that is totally irrelevant to this topic as that's not where Richard Harris and Brendan Gleason come from.
I mean David Fincher saying ScarJo gave a good audition but you'd just be waiting for her to take her clothes off sounds like a him problem and a gross one. I'm so glad that OJ didn't get cast in the Terminator. Even if he'd been good(thinking of Henry Fonda in Once Upon A Time in the West) it would have just made the movie impossible to watch after what happened.
Wait... Was this whole video just to make a comment about O. J.? The whole thing doesn't make sense otherwise. The video would have worked perfectly without the tangential commentary
You forget that Michael Jackson was in with Disney on that Star wars esk spin-off Captain Eo. In 1986 George Lucas wrote a small movie with him and they had it as a attraction in Disney world. He probably felt chummy enough to get anything he wanted from George Lucas. But George Lucas said stay in your lane.

I don't care what anyone says, OJ Simpson was too pleasant, and I could never see him playing the role of a killer, and as for Eddie Redmayne, Jupiter Ascending anyone? He was absolutely horrific in the antagonist role as the son who wanted to kill his mother.
Arnie lied. OJ was never seriously considered for the role. Sorry people. Lance Henriksen (who played one of the cops instead) would've been a more correct choice for this video
Fincher's Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was great...unless you've seen the original Swedish extended cut. Fincher's a great filmmaker but this really is a classic case of just remaking something for the subtitle-hating morons. I suppose Rooney Mara was OK, but nobody compares to Noomi.
Re: Robert Redford fact and that had he ever struck out with a girl... it's like why did they choose him to be the billionaire in Indecent Proposal... he could have offered $10 to the couple and most women at the time would have jumped at the chance and justified the reason to spend the night with him. Now if Mr Bean/Rowan Atkinson had been the billionaire, it would have been a far more interesting choice for an "Indecent Proposal"
"Moulin Rouge" magnificent? Perhaps, if your standards are subterranean. I prefer films with actual scripts, as opposed to an assemblage of pop song lyrics cobbled together. Watching it was like reading the diary of a vapid teenage girl with ADHD. I still want those two hours of my life back.
I dunno. I found it amusing. Its a musical, its not supposed to be taken seriously. It's just a bit of fun for two hours. Not your cup of tea? No problem, plenty of movies out there. Some just not for everyone.
I agree that at that point in time he wasn't a big name and they needed someone that could pull in views. Johnny Depp didn't become a household name until Pirates of the Carribean.
