honestly one weapon that I find really useful is the wooden yo-yo its better than any ore sword because you can wall cheese has range and you can make a a string to increase the reach easily also it’s really helpful for farming jungle enemies
It's just forgotten because by the time a lot of people even craft string they usually have something better. But honestly Yo-yos in general are pretty underrated honestly
One weapon I got surprised about is the Toxikarp, it helped me against Queen Slime and all the Mech Bosses (especially Destroyer), it's fun to use and has a high damage potential
@@LanJip on a single target yes, but nights edge is easier to use with better crowd control. Maybe dark lance is better against deerclops but against everything else nights edge is better
2:40 That looked so damn funny 😂 The painter was just chillin there and a wild terrarian suddenly came flying through the door with rocket boots and started beating the hell out of him with a stinky sword, what the hell
Another one I don’t hear often is the Rainbow Rod. That thing is unironically one of the best mage weapons against empress of light and duke Fishron due its high speed and dps, making it great for obtaining something more late game like the nightglow or razorblade typhoon
@@wannachetoh1928 support weapons are weapons you don’t have to actively keep using. Rainbow rod is the definition of a primary weapon, it’s very versatile and performs well in every situation
true. i remember back in 1.3, when i just started playing terraria, i used frost bow as my first attempt to kill destroyer. i built a cube way high in the sky and thought i would be able to kill destroyer. at the end of night, i descended and realized that i did only 20k damage.
I got in hardmode in my meelee/ranged run recently and MY GOD the shadowflame bow was AMAZING. With frost armor (i really wanted frost armor) enemies just melt after getting hit.
another weapon thats pretty good now imo is the bananarang cause its been updated to where you dont have to collect 10 of them anymore to throw ten bananas. plus the drop chance got boosted from 3.33% to 10%.
you know sock man calamity is quite a popular mod for terraria and i feel like a vast majority of players would love to see weapon reviews on all the variaty of items it has
I played a mage run with staffs only and i noticed that the thunder zapper is on the same playing ground as the diamond staff, very strong if you dont get lucky with the ores and dont want to fish, great diamond staff replacement.
You should review the frost staff! Not the "frost hydra staff", just frost staff! Found as a drop from icy mermen, its an early hardmode staff that certainly does things, but i wonder what you think? I'm not sure why I'm so obsessed with it rn but please review it, I didn't even knew it existed until a few weeks ago when I was scrolling the wiki aimlessly and found it in the weapons page
A weapon i think is uncredibly underrated is the blow dart, its not greatbwith seeds but with poison darts it can easily carry you through the jungle early game and can easilly take out the eye of cuthulu with little health or defense and because of how easy poison darts are to obtane(simply craft 100 of them for a single stinger) i would highly recomend the blow dart as a early game ranger weapon
The Spirit Flame is my favourite mage weapon by far, while it's kinda annoying to get, it can take you straight to Golen or Duke Fishron and doesn't require aiming at all so you can focus 100% on dodging.
Honestly the wand of frosting isn't too bad as a starter weapon. For just a chest drop and 99 ice torches it can be much easier to get in a mage playthrough than a lot of other early options.
Some of the reasons why I am not using these weapons: Dart rifle - I like to torture myself for uzi Frost daggerfish - Fishing Paintball gun - Usually I don't have enough NPC houses for painter to move in Flying dragon - You said it yourself, old one's army. I think I am going to try the dart rifle and paintball gun in my next playthrough tho. (I will also try the drippler crippler) Rest are amazing picks. I appreciated the charged blaster cannon myself. Just my last playthrough was calamity, so there were few buffs to these weapon's competitors(for example much better amber staff).
The second I saw the Blood Eel enemy, I for some reason liked it. Of course that meant I killed it as soon as possible and got the drippler crippler, and since then it's been my favourite flail.
I'm currently playing a vanilla ranger play-through and holy HELL the dart rifle is terribly slept on It carried me thru mechs, plantera, and golem (and probably cultist if I wasn't ass) Get yourself a dart rifle and cursed darts and ur set 👌
For me, the tome of infinite wisdom has become my all-time favorite mage weapon that I don't see talked about a whole lot! I think it has incredible versatility and can carry you through plantera!
In my first playthrough beating the game, I stumbled across a dart rifle with staunch and used it almost the rest of my playthrough (not knowing about modifiers, I just thought it was part of the name)
I would say that the poison knives are a reasonable alternative to the frost daggerfish, being slightly slower and having slightly less damage however mostly making up for this with it's poison effect. They can be gotten with just some throwing knives and whatever evil powder your world has. They generally seem marginally worse but I recommend it for you people who I know are averse to fishing in this game. Took down the brain with them once!
When you talked about the dart rifle, i was really excited to see, tho seeing cursed flames darts having the spotlight... why not give crystal darts a try tho? IMO its also an underrated ammo type that easily gets overshadowed by both the curse darts and ichor darts
You'd be surprised, but the Chain Guillotines are OP, even in Master mode. The only bosses they're not really viable with is anything with small hitboxes (Prime's hands or Golem's hands) or bosses that require piercing (Destroyer), but you could definitely beat the Twins and even Fishron straight out of pre-hardmode with enough preparation (Ore Armor+Wings+Potions) and good gameplay using just the Guillotines. I recently did a Master mode flail-only playthrough, and they were really viable. They were able to get an average of 100 damage per hit without getting crits. I was able to beat Fishron with a few basic potions, a Cursed Flame flask, Palladium armor, spectre boots, and frost wings within 15-20 minutes (quicker if not having been on Master mode). The only problem during the fight was mobility, but that's mostly because it was an early Hardmode Fishron fight and I had bad movement, the damage worked really well though. I would recommend them as an early hardmode weapon, but I would recommend not using them against Prime or Destroyer, they are a bit tough to hit/properly take down, but you could just get Flairon and the rest of the game becomes easy.
Dark lance is super good, An A tier weapon for when it's introduced to the player, but the problem with it isn't even a problem with the weapon itself, its simply the fact the nights edge just exists and goes above and beyond what the dark lance is capable of.
What I love about ice dagger fish is how many of them you get at once Plus you can sell them if you don’t like them so win win! Got a lot while tryna get ice skates
Joke's on you, I already use lots of these! Here's a few that i use the most Thunder Zapper: if you go for a desert run, go for it! Storm Spear: (not mentioned), but still amazing! Once again, while not as good as the Zapper, it's good for when waiting for your mana, packing a similar punch to the Zapper when close enough. Magic Dagger: Decently easy to get, if you stumble across it, then use it, as it uses mediocre mana do give WAY above mediocre dps, able to be used against mechs pretty well. Paintball Gun: Worst on the list, only because of how hard it is to get a Painter early-game, and the chance, but if you already have lots of houses, get to murderin'! Bubble Gun: While horrible for faster bosses, it is EXCEPTIONAL for close-range fights, this thing, if gotten early enough, can shred Plantera and Golem, or even Queen Slime's first stage if you wish. Dark lance: Legit one of my favorite weapons, mainly due to nostalgia. It packs a pretty good punch, being able to shell out very comparable damage to the Night's Edge, with much less grind behind it. (i still have my first ever dark lance from 2016 in my safe, along with my chain knife)
I managed to find a thunder zapper almost immediately in my first expert playthrough- I was already planning on going mage too. That thing carried me so far. Edit: Also, Magic Dagger is amazing. I'm glad it's finally getting attention, even if only in a list of underused weapons
I'd like to say the Arkhalis is underrated, but considering it's a dev item (1/20 drop from expert or master HM bosses, one of many dev sets, kinda rare), I can't really call it easy to obtain, and I understand that most people don't like its attack. Not to mention its younger brother, the 1/50 Enchanted Sword-with-a-mutation Teragrim. Nevertheless, the Arkhalis is still my favorite weapon in the game.
Magic daggers underrated af. They have same dps as other mage weapon on its point of progression (except meteor staff) and it only takes to kill mimic to get it. U can easily beat all mechs with these daggers and even more, it’s honestly one of the best weapon against Fishrone. I usually kill Fishrone after mechs with holly armor. Ye it will take u a while to kill him (around 8 mins) but genuinely it’s one of the best weapons at this progression point against him as it’s really easy to aim with it, easy to destroy bubbles and sharks due to piercing so it makes Fishrone battle just into dodging his dashes which is easy if u know his attack patterns. And drop from Fishrone can be used till the end of the game so tbh all u need to go through whole hard mode is magic daggers and razor blade typhoon. To kill Fishrone I use Queen slime mount as it has best vertical mobility and its all u need to dodge, also u’ll need blizzard in balloon to get huge boost in vertical mobility. Accessories slots look like this ‘charm of myths’, ‘cross necklace’, ‘mage emblem’, ‘avenger emblem’, ‘mana cloak’, ‘Celestial Cuffs’, ‘brain of confusion’ or ‘worm scurf’, I usually enchant half of it for +4% dmg and half for +4% crit chance Build long arena, it should have 3-4 layers with gap between them that u barely see top layer. Place 2 fire camps, 2 heart lanterns, also 2 Bastet statues would be nice. Fight will go in 3 phases, 1st and 3rd are very easy if u know patterns, the only danger is mid-end of 2nd phase as it take u lot of focus to dodge attacks and place homing sharknado in right place. in 1st phase u just jump up and down when he dashes, he dashes 5 times then alternately spawns sharknadoes and bubbles, try to make him spawn sharknadoes at edge of ur arena and then go opposite direction, make him shoot bubbles at the centre and then again go to corner, make him spawn sharknadoes at edge then just turn and keep going and dodging. If doing it right no sharknadoes will reach u and u’ll be able to destroy bubbles easily. In 2nd phase he becomes faster, he does 3 dashes and then again alternately spawns homing sharknadoes and bubbles. Same in this phase, but it will be harder to control where homing sharknado spawns as it spawns when homing projectile hits u and he usually keep dashing when this projectile still flying at u. When it hits u go down and when Fishrone dashes just go up so sharknado won’t hit u as if u dodged by going down. Sharknado in 2nd phase is only dangerous thing in this battle. In 3rd phase he dashes 1 time, teleport behind u, dashes 2 times, teleport again, dashes 3 times, teleport, that’s all so u just have to count how many times he dashed. Just stay on lowest layer, when he dashes 1 time just jump over it (don’t jump on 2nd layer, jump slightly), when he dashes 2 times jump a bit higher so he dashes 1st time when u go up and 2nd time when u go down, when he dashes 3 times do same as 2 dashes just jump one more time at the end. Make him dash horizontally, never let him be right above u as it’ll be nearly impossible to dodge with Queen slime mount but it’s actually ain’t that hard to control where he dashes, few tries of practice and u turn it into slow dance where he can’t even touch u.
I don't wanna be "that guy" or anything but how does showing the Drippler Crippler against a clumped up Destroyer show how good it is compared to how hard it is to get? I mean, yeah it's good on its own, and any piercing weapon is good against that clumped destroyer, I just thought it was odd that it was the clip you chose to show how good it was, genuinely curious.
From my many destroyer cheese tests I think the drippler has the fastest kill so just wanted to highlight that part of it lol Even without that ability it’s an amazing weapon for crowd control tho
I have to disagree with you sock number 10 should be the dripler crippler 9. dripler crippler 8. dripler crippler 7. dripler crippler 6. dripler crippler 5. dripler crippler 4. dripler crippler 3. dripler crippler 2. dripler crippler and I know it’s going to be a bit controversial but I think number one should be the dripler crippler
