F keya and the inventpry tags are huge things to help a noob get only slightly better. I've only just started TOA and I have definitely gotten a little bit better through using both the keys and the colours for quick Gear switches. I think the most important (or one of the most important) tips is to not be afraid of failure. Or at the very least, not being afraid to at least attempt an encounter because of how complicated some guides make it seem.
Corrupted Gauntlet was my first boss, would suggest most people trying to get into pvm more dangerous bosses to try CG out to get better. forces you to switch attack styles, move around and switch prayers. Plus you don't lose items if you fail, just time.

The one issue with CG is how long it takes to get a run going. Spending 6 minutes on the prep to die 30 seconds later can be VERY demotivating for newbies.
Demonic Gorillas really got me more interested, now I’m doing TOA Expert solo’s and learning chambers mostly. Gotta start somewhere, fire cape should be the first main pvm challenge, that first Jad kill is what most people remember in their playthrough 💪🏻
My tip: Moons of Peril are a great way to learn movement (and get a feel for tick cycles) without needing to worry about prayer swaps. Demonic Gorillas are a great way to learn about prayer and 2-3 item switches. These are also great for players new to PvM because the one-shot threat is relatively low. Once those 2 aspects become easy, move onto Sarachnis. Afterwards, it is all about watching 1-2 guides on RU-vid, getting the gear and trying all the other PvM content.
Pretty certain that tick eating works the same as the prior explained range projectiles, where it is rolling a number when it attacks and you have the projectile time to eat and it will still only hit whatever number it was originally rolling.
The biggest hurdle I faced when I was first starting out at PVM was managing my nerves. Once you learn not to panic, everything becomes a hell of a lot easier. Another one is to avoid unnecessary clicking e.g. don't spam click an enemy you're already attacking (I still do this and die to it a lot 😅). RSN Looweegee

I've been slowly getting into bossing, trying new things, testing how far I can get in an encounter, learning different mechanics and such, so one of the things I found most important is your awareness, cause mechanics as an individual, are fairly easy, the challenge is putting everything together while you are moving or "predicting" next swap or in Zulrah for example, as someone that hasnt got her first kc, being constantly aware of the plug in and the boss at the same time while doing swaps, has been the most dificult part for me but definitely something fun to learn. Rsn: 97202 Playing an iron a majority of my time coming back forced me to learn bosses in budget setups so it built patience and self forgiveness. Trying out bosses in sketch gear but doing better than you thought gives you huge motivation to grab those mid-late upgrades n see the time drop. It’s also not as penalizing dying in cheap gear. You expected to and it’s cheap to get and re-run it.

understaning how ticks work is literally the most useful thing to help learn pvm as the whole game is based on them, once you understand how many actions you are able to perform in 1 tick you will absolutely be able to do higher level content RSN Kivenmurikka
I think information is a big part of learning new encounters. And i am not talking about mechanics. More so about "experience" that shared. For example for me Muspah and Vorkath were much easier bosses to learn and farm than Zulrah, which i only had 1kc for a longest time. Because Muspah and Vorkath give you decent amount of room for mistakes and aside for certain attacks, there are not many ways to die quickly, so you can eat through your mistakes. On other hand Zulrah can deal up to 50 damage with a single attack, which can be stacked with Snakelings for additional 15 max hit per. And in tanzenite form you will take hits, because of random range attacks, whether you want it or not, which makes Zulrah pretty discouraging boss to learn. There are a lot of great bosses to try and learn, but understanding what kind of bullshit you will have to deal with is something not enough guides cover.
I recently finally got to play on desktop after being mobile only for 6 years playing very casually, thanks to samsung dex. I tried the thermonuclear smokedevil today, my first boss (I know it's really easy but still), I've managed to save up about 350mil from slayer (lv97) over the time I've played without bossing, so hopefully I'll be able to buy some gear and maybe start some boss encounters
Prayer flicking is basically like having hacks, but movement is the 2nd most important skill, knowing where mobs will get stuck or not and (which isn't mentioned in this video) when/if you will get dragged towards a mob.
I believe that getting used to a dpi in your mouse, is a crucial part to be good at pvm, missing a click can be the difference between dying at the boss or eating correctly, praying correctly, moving where you have to move. RSN Zaavi zc
Ok for me, the mosti mportant thing for what I see in PVM is this...just chill and if ya fail, move onto another challenge or activity and come back when you have a cool head. I am not gonna lie...when I fell to Sins of the Father and the Varlamore Moon Dungeon, I got pretty salty and tilted. My tip, if you are having a hard time with a certain piece of content, take a step back and do some of your favorite non combat skills and just enjoy doing the little things, and maybe over a week or so give it another go and there is a good chance you will one shot that boss. RSN - LDS ChanChan
Something I think should be added is click with purpose. If you panic click or just spam it in general. You are much more likely to make a mistake and take unnecessary damage.

I think the most important thing for higher level bossing is to know when theres a break in the action to focus on prayer switching, or to try to save eating for when you cant attack. Gauntlet made me realize i wanted to open the prayer menu as the 4th attack went out so i could cimfortably swap and also pay attention to floor tiles and cyclones. Also, eating food then fast food and then pots in the same tick in that order to maximize dps. Rsn bakedfood1

Any tips for mobile players also scared of pvm? I know a guy, a friend, kinda handsome, who’s only ever done barrows and the mole basically and wants to learn more about how to pvm properly on mobile.
I only recently got my first zulrah kc after 25 deaths, it sucks having to charter back so many times but practice is the only way I will ever turn that frustrating death snake into a money snake.

Misinformation correction: Yes, you have literally infinite prayer if you 1 tick it. The entire point of 1 ticking is that you don't drain any decimals of your prayer if you only have it on for a single game tick
That is quite literally what I said lmfao. If "decimals" are gone, having prayer up for 2 ticks means 1 prayer point drain. Maybe just wording issue on my end

As one who is just starting to learn mechanics outside of stand correct and pray correct, I’m finding that learning movement (mine and the boss’s) and learning when to eat and when to attack are the hardest, but also most important factors in improving PVM skill, for myself at least. Learning by jumping into fights with a vague idea on what to expect rather than studying guides for hours beforehand. Too many guides will give you a false sense of confidence and lead to getting frustrated easier. There's a better sense of accomplishment from learning PvM encounters yourself. RSN FlipForFood

Biggest tip that I hardly hear mentioned is to go get your stuff after you die vs paying death's fee. I spent so much extra gp and didn't try nearly as much content because I didn't want to pay for my deaths... RSN: Navy-All
7:50 It's worth noting that most enemies like that have *sound effects* for when their attack registers. For example Leviathan you'll hear either the sound of it hitting you or the "tink" sound of the protection prayer negating it, as the indication that the attack has now registered. It's been really helpful on those bosses to turn sound up and music down. Scurrius is obviously the easiest practice for this.
