10 Days for a round trip in South Island is not enough. Will definitely come back again to visit New Zealand again next time! Given the limited time, I must say that we did a great job in terms of coverage. One of the few times where travel is so smooth and lovely (but do keep note of the speed limits at construction sites).

The brief itinerary:
Day 1 - Arrive in Christchurch airport, rent 4x4 and head to city to do some supermarket runs (and Lululemon).
Drive to Lake Tekapo, stopping by Fairlie bakery for some PIE.
Star Gazing at Lake Tekapo at night.
Day 2 - Pack up and leave. Stop by Hooker Valley for a nice short trek.
Reach Wanaka and rest up for the night
Day 3 - Hiking up Roy's Peak. Unfortunately received gastroenteritis so the next few days was tough.
Day 4 - Leaving Wanaka for Te Anau, a full day of driving.
Day 5 - Milford Sound Cruise
Day 6 - Leaving Te Anau to Queenstown!
Day 7 - Tiki Trail and luge after breakfast, quick lunch then to TSS Earnslaw, where we sailed to Walter Peak's Farm. Gastroenteritis stopped.
Day 8 - Drive a full day to Franz Josef, stop for the night.
Day 9 - Drive a full day back to Christchurch.
Day 10 - Flight back :(
