Excellent Video...I have lumbar stenosis and the Doctors say when I got checked is operate..operate. This is the only cure. I said : NO THANKS :Your video will help me tremendously. I do have the ab exerciser you show..Thank You
i can hear the experience with lumbar stenoisis and spinal issues in your voice. i am now practicing the excercises and have stopped doing the ones to avoid. I am seeing improvement already. i am subscribing to your channel and will be enrolling in the 28 Day Back program. My back issues developed over my 73 years , including 35 years of cycling , hang gliding , running and mountain biking (and NOT DOING GOOD BACK EXCERCISES , while also doing some of the bad exercises people say are good for you) . My nest body upgrade will be your Cervical neck series. Thanks !
Thank you so much for these videos! It gives me understanding and hope! Diagnosed with mild scoliosis, multiple level lumbar anular bulge, multiple level stenosis, ligament flavum hypertrophy. Moderate severe L4&5& S-1. Im tired of hurting. Although my doc is non surgical I feel like hes just throwing meds and injections at me. Im currently on my 3rd physical therapy group. This one seems to be more creative but some exercises they have me doing brings more pain the next day. You're videos help me understand whats really going on and how to approach healing. Thank you!!

You mentioned that usually is because back muscles being to strong but in her case its weak. She also has severed atrophy paraspinal musculature. Is there any exercise to strengthen these muscles? Good day Sir. In my early 40s I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both my knees and back. What type of cardiovascular exercises can I do without equipment. I would like to purchase your program for both back and knee pain.Unfortunately I can only afford purchasing one right now.Which one would you recommend I purchase first.Have a good day
Thank u for the videos...I hear a lot abt the pain that comes with the stenosis. I dont so much have the pain I mostly have pins/needles from the waist down. Numbness from the waist down some days. Not if my diagnosis is accurate I guess.
From experience: just be careful that you keep your body in a straight line, do NOT swim in grandma-style. Before my operation I even had to stop with water gymnastics, because my spine was so unstable.
@@lillic8522 Thank you for the answer! It helps to know about someone's experience. About the swimming style, I will ask my wife to supress my grandpa habits. Thank you again!
@@bogdanp.4793 you are very welcome! BTW: after 6 years, when at the end I could not walk more than 100 m without having to stop, I had 2 discs fused (L3-5). That was in late 2019. Now I can hike for several hours and do yoga and a lot of other sports. Jogging is not nice because that makes me feel the fused bones more…. And I have not needed one painkiller for my back in the last years! Good luck, and maybe do not wait too long.
I just found your channel and I am blown away! I am recently diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis, disc hernies and other problems in my back and find no help. Physical therapist says they can’t help me, rheumatologist says there are too many problems in my back to do anything about it without doing more damage than good. Now my doctor has send me for a second opinion in the hospital for possible spinal operation. The thought of an operation scares me tremendously! Your video gives me new hope and I have a question for you before I proceed with your recommendations. The exercises you describe in the video, are they all okay if you, in addition to lumbar spinal stenosis, also have other problems, like disc hernies and more? And would the 28 days program also be safe for me? Kind regards Vicky

TY ... It's only been three days since I saw your videos on stenosis ... been engaging my abs and glutes ... it has already helped. Also, stopped back strengthening exercises at the gym. There is hope!!! Any thoughts on a vibration plate?
I have had cervical stenosis surgery on C4 and C5 in 2016 and recently C5 and C6 in March of this year. I also had Lumber cleaned up in 2018 on L4 and L5. My problem is the neck repair has created all this nerves pain and I am still dealing with lumber stenosis pain and I am in a wheelchair 80% of time. Is the Lumber exercises safe with the recent Cervical surgery?
* PLEASE ANSWER” I have gluteal tendinopathy in addition to spinal stenosis. I have been told that I should lay on my sides with gluteal tendinopathy. However, when I do lay flat on my back with a pillows under my knee , it still doesn’t feel right on my back. How do I sleep?

Your video was very interesting to me in that you stated to avoid certain stretches that I was taught in P.T. after two hip replacements. Additionally I also have Spinal Stenosis......I am curious about how you feel regarding exercises for hip and stenosis....Although I am 81 (!), I have always worked out and am in decent shape as far as strength, balance and aerobics.....I am working out now using a LifePro Vibration plate and wondering what you think of this kind of workout? Appreciate hearing from you..... Your videos are very informative.....

I have trouble understanding #7 where you state to suck in your abs and get rid of the arch. Would seem as soon as you fall asleep you are not going to be able to maintain the flattening of you arch. I also an a bit skeptical of drinking that much water at for some it will decrease your sodium levels. Lastly, there are many reasons for stenosis to the way mentioned may or may not help. Sill I picked up several helpful hints and appreciate the video.
I was wondering if traction is good for stenosis. Also, those inversion tables - like the Teeter design - that decompress the body: is that good for lumbar stenosis?
Hi Doc, would standing up and not moving for 8 plus hours be bad for spinal stenosis? I am considering a job of holding a sign on a road and directing trafic but has very little movement....I don't think it would be good for my lower stenosis.
Thank you Dr D! Is the Lumbar Exerciser good if I have a compression fracture on my L4, Arthritis, and Osteoporosis? I thought it’s not good to bend forward if one has Osteoporosis.
I have chronic bouts of sciatica that only last about 10 days each time thank god. Does all this info apply to sciatica as well? Your section on what NOT to do are all the stretches sciatica stretches recommends. I'm a bit confused. Stretches and back strengthening the same. Definitely don't help me that's for sure.....
This information can definitely apply to someone who has sciatica-like symptoms. Your sciatic nerve is composed of multiple spinal nerve roots. If the spinal nerve roots in the low back are pinched, it would feel very similar to sciatica. That is why we want to treat the low back and the hips. So, this may be able to help!
Question: When you talk about the front lumbar muscles and use the term, "abdominal muscles" is that what we lay people call "core" muscles? Also, if one doesn't have any tennis balls at the moment, what about one of those strong massage devices (2 speed vibrating) that has a rubber ring around it, with one send protruding out? (with LED heat lamp).? Using that against, say, the sofa back cushion to move it around as you demonstrated? Also, what about using a heating pad on those back muscles to "soften" them? I won't go into details, but right now, I have what this vid is about as well, right now, I'm dealing with a pinched nerve and by pressing on diff. vertebrae, I know which one is causing it (the location). So I need to do whatever to get this resolved.
Your videos are very educational. But I'm in need of serious help. I had a spinal fusion 2yrs ago, and since then I've been in pain. Everyday my right hip hurts, and my feet, the pain feels like it's in the bones, but not sure. My feet have poor circulation, and a little swelling since the surgery. I do have Degenerative Disc disease can this be the problem, because my doctor doesn't seem to know the reason. Basically, I need your help and advice.

What about people with hip fusions cause I have a right hip that is fused and it has been for many years and now my right leg is numb and foot unable to stand very long
Hi David, The only way I get relief for excruciating pain is by sitting on the bed with my legs out. Sitting is not so good and doesn't have the same effect? What can you suggest please? My GP says she is more worried about how thin my bones are than she is about the pain in my hip. I fell and had a hip operation...I also sleep sitting up to get relief. Many thanks.

Can you stop the progress of stenosis? I’m in terrible condition and I have osteoporosis. I have a collapsed L3 Vertebrae and severe narrowing. They want me to take Prolia or Reclast, Fosamax, etc. I’m scared to take those meds. I need advice.
This all sounds good, but I can’t even walk. The pain is so bad down my leg to my foot that I can’t even walk. After getting up and doing the slightest thing, it will take me over an hour just to calm everything down. I’m supposed to go pick up x-ray paper or form to go get an x-ray and I can’t even do that.
