I was thinking the same exact. Thing. This list is incredible. Was just learning about Wu Zetian of China. She was the only women to ever become ruler of China. But it was happening on the continent frequently even around d the same period it seems.
@Wastulassis
@Wastulassis 3 года назад
Well, the 10 names of the list cover the span of 3500 years, and many of them weren't in full charge or full control of the power. I mean, with the exception of the Muslim world, there have been many queens elsewhere, I would even say more queens. Just think about the russian Czarinas, or the English monarchs, or the Palmyra's queen Zenobia, the Byzantine empress Irene, or Tarabai of the Marathas empire

And there still are. Every King rules with a Queen or Queen mother. This Queen is chosen within the immediate family of King or from an extension of Royals in the same land. It's to check monopoly of power and also give voice to the women of the land.. The King having more dominance than the Queen can be punished or dethroned if his actions betrays the respect, counsel or voice of the Queen.

Queen mothers are actually the most powerful and heavily guarded and revered royalty. this goes way back to prepatriarchy days when we were deeply honoured, respected oracles, prophetesses and we embodied the African Divine Goddess.
