I really liked the Anne of Cleve's recreation. I always felt she got a raw deal, starting with the portrait that Henry saw before he met her. I think she was the most interesting and clever of all his wives, considering she was able to keep her head (literally) and befriend Henry to the point where he called her "sister", and gave her a house and money. Henry could be very unpredictable and downright vicious. Anne of Cleves is my favorite of the 6 wives.
~ Anne was the luckiest, she left the short marriage with her head intact and a big financial settlement of money and land. Plus she outlived that ogre & all his wives. 💛
Ann Boleyn. Had an emotional reaction to her smile. In these recreations, you feel their humanity and vulnerability. Hard to imagine from images frozen in time.
My favorite-Anne Boleyn. Your re-creation emphasizes her beautiful dark eyes, a feature she was especially known for. It’s no surprise she was admired throughout her life and obsessively desired by Henry. Bringing her to life as you have shows a beautiful and clever woman who knew how to make the most of what she was born with. It’s sad to think of her end, but we must remember she gave birth to one of England’s greatest rulers. In that, she left a great legacy.
The last actress to play her didn't just have beautiful black eyes she had beautiful black skin aswell as now black actresses can play this white queen.
Anne of Cleves is (to me) the best recreation you’ve ever done! She seems so life-like and alive, even when it’s just a photoshopped image. It’s so surreal to see historical figures come to life and i can’t wait to see what you’ll create in 2023!
It would be interesting to have you take a painting of someone currently living... And do you recreation and see how close it comes to the living person.
I thought Anne Boleyn would be No. 1. She's my favorite. Love her jaunty smile/laugh. I think of her as a vivacious person & this captures it. My next favorite is Lincoln. You captured his melancholy nature. Love you work.
My favorite from this group was Pocahontas, because there was so little information to work with on her appearance and gathering what is known of her, you managed to create someone who was such a beauty! My other current favorites have been the Romanov children. I feel since those videos were released recently, they didn't garner up the views to make the Top 10 but those were amazing as well.
The beauty and tragic figure Marie Antoinette, she has been so horribly vilified by the French for actions she never took, and falsely accused of deeds she never committed. I have such empathy for her! Also I love the Anne of Cleves portrait the one wife who not only survived but outlived the tyrant!!! Ann of Cleves has a special place in history.
I think she was treated unfairly. She wasn't expected to marry as well as her sisters since she was youngest and so didn't receive as a good of an education as her sisters. Was only considered because her older sisters were pox marked or dead. Was married at 14, queen at 19, with no real instructions on how to run the country. Was blamed for the poor financial decisions of her husband and his advisors.
Awesome work! I'm so glad Anne of Cleves took the top as she's my favorite of the six wives and my favorite recreation. I think my second fav recreation would be Pocahontas. I absolutely love what you did with that. My third fav would probably be your recent recreations of the Romanov sisters. Looking forward to more in 2023!
Joseph Bologna was a surprise to me, I had never heard of him and had to share his story with the music teacher at the school I teach at. Love the Anne Boleyn recreate…If she was alive now, she could have divorced that jerk Henry and moved on to a better life. Anne of Cleves…She’s my hero from divorcing Henry, keeping her head and the house(S) and then some, of which she had before she even set eyes on H. Anyway, I just love this channel and would love to see more i.e. what did Medusa 😮look like, if she was real Saraswati, Change e’ the Chinese moon goddess or Charles Dickens, Sojourner Truth and what did Artemisia Gentileschi look like? I wonder. Thank you, for the recreates and looking forward to more in 2023. May 2023 send you great vibes, happiness and abundance 🎊
Why is it that I can listen to you all day everyday? You have such a calming voice. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication all year. Have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year
Anne of Cleves is absolutely stunning. Nothing I will say regarding her intelligence have not been repeated by other comments already, so I will only comment on the more superficial aspect of her - she is absolutely beautiful. Her face is the embodiment of tranquility, it just has that amazing quality that captivates you and invites you to want to know more about what she is thinking.
Yes! I could see why she was regarded as "ugly", but to me she seems so pretty! I also think her hair is hot. I guess nowadays we tend to more overcome details and look at the overall beauty of the face and also the spirit in the eyes. Back then, they might have regarded more things as "ugly".
The fact she looks incredibly beautiful here and was known as "the ugly wife" makes me think the recreation is clearly not accurate. They would have known better than we do.
I don't have a favorite. I think all your recreations are amazing. It is especially remarkable when you add the final element of animation. It is like the images step out from the canvas or stone and one can glimpse a flash of the soul of the subjects from the annuls of history. Truly fascinating. You are a great talent. I enjoy your narrations from History as much as your works. Thank you!
Ann Boleyn is my favorite and most interesting queen in my opinion. Unfortunately, she was too ahead of her time back in those days. I really enjoyed watching her portrait come to life. I believe that she tried so hard in her marriage, but was too hot blooded. I’m that way and a lot of men can’t handle it. For her to lose her husband, title, reputation, child and other unborn babies, plus her life in just a short span of only 3 years, it just breaks my heart.
Hans Holbein’s paintings are very realistic and accurate. The image produced here of Anne of Cleves is undoubtedly exactly as she would have looked in real life. Quite stunning.
Truly amazing…the beautiful graphics (HOW DO YOU DO IT???) along with amazing historical background told in a wondrous narration. Great job all around!
I have enjoyed them all. Beautifully done. However, Abraham Lincoln is one of my favorites. What he endured and what he accomplished is remarkable. Carol from California
I loved them all, but the Annes, Elizabeth, and Lincoln were just astonishing. Lincoln's personality is vividly apparent in your work, which packs a huge emotional wallop for me, given his contributions. I found it fascinating that you can see echoes of her mother in Elizabeth 1st's nose! And cracked me up that Alexander the Great looked like a Heisman Trophy winner. Truly blown away by your work... new subscriber, now a tad obsessed! Trotting off to see if youve done any others,,,, DiVinci would be snazzy!
How about Korean royalty? King Sejong would be awesome! He developed the written language (Hangul) that vastly improved literacy among the common Korean people.
I love the first portrait of Anne Boleyn. It's such a lovely picture of her and the way you made her smile shows such an amazing young woman full of fun, wit and intelligence. She's also my first cousin 15 times removed so I have a special connection to her too, which makes her my favourite, lol. :)
Thanks to the Cleopatra Episode, I found this channel. Thank you for your beautifully researched videos which have been so much fun. Also, shoutout to Andre the Editor.
I would be interested to see William the conqueror in a future video. None the less this is one of the most interesting channels I’ve come across on RU-vid, great job! I praise your work in these videos, and the details and research. RU-vid is lucky to have creators like you!
Wow, that was so cool. Anne Boleyn was my favorite. Although you gave her a beautiful smile I’m not too sure her teeth would’ve looked so nice and healthy. Bravo to your work, cheers.
Absolutely fascinating! How AMAZING to see the recreations of the ancient figures like Hadrian and Alexander. Thoroughly enthralled with this channel!! ,
The recreations are magical. I am amazed and humbled by these people. I see President Lincoln smile, and I am in tears. Thank you for this fine work. i appreciate it.
The problem with the recreation of Anne of Cleves is that we are basing it off of Holbein’s portrait of her, which apparently was embellished to make her look prettier than she was. Holbein was specifically hired to paint portraits of the king’s prospective wives and send them back to England so that Henry could choose the prettiest one. When Henry saw what she really looked like he said she was “repulsive.” Henry felt he had been deceived. Instead of blaming the artist though, Henry blamed the one who had hired Holbein, Thomas Cromwell. He accused him of treason and had him beheaded. So we will never know if this is what Anne of Cleves truly looked like.
I don't agree. Holbein would have been crazy to paint an unrealistic portrait of a person Henry would have seen eventually. Henry's negative reaction to Anne was based in part on her failure to recognize him as the king when he surprised her with an unscheduled visit en route to the prearranged meeting place. There is also the very real phenomenon of "chemistry," the presence of physical attraction to another person, or the glaring lack of it. Anne also spoke very little English, so communication would have been frustrating. Perhaps she lacked charm, that elusive quality some people have, or she had a subdued personality. Henry liked to pick his own women, and he liked them to be vivacious. And Anne was just a political match. So, no, I don't think Anne was less good looking than that portrait. There are other reasons for his petulant rejection of her. Later, after the divorce, Anne was close to Henry's family and appeared at court often, so she couldn't have been too repulsive! And other people didn't describe her as lacking in good looks.
I can't choose a favorite as of yet. To bring these portraits to life helps me to put history into perspective. The artistry of the transformations is beautiful work, IMO.
Hi! Perfect top 10 for the Year! For me it’s hard to choose a Favorite they are all truly Remarkable and Amazing Figures Of History! Your Work was a Beautiful Tribute bringing them back to Life for Us to get to know them Closely and more Intimately was a Treasure! Thank you for sharing all your hard efforts and incredible work to Us that we can Enjoy over and over again! Brava to-you and your team! A truly Splendid Year! 👏🏻😍💁♀️
They are all amazing Becca, Hard to pick just one, you and your team are top notch at what you do, always looking forward to seeing what's next, all the very best & merry Christmas to you all.
I am so excited that I came across you channel.... You are amazing and I too love all history. Thank you for giving us a glimpse of these amazing people......
I love that you created them with a smile. Historical figures are so often depicted so coldly, we forget they were real people with smiles just like us!
Thank you so much for bringing them all back to life.. it actually feels like each one of them said thank you for bringing us back so that they could what the world it is like now.. wow.. keep up the good work..
The recreation animation you do with these ‘people’ is phenomenal. I keep wanting the animation to continue. It’s almost as if I could speak to them. To bad you couldn’t write an AI program for that: take a close stab at their voice, manner of speech, have them speak in their native tongue(with subtitles at the bottom), in the ‘language’ of their time, have enough information about them and their time that someone could actually have a conversation with them. I know it would be a HUGH program. But I think it would be worth it! ❤️
Watching President Lincoln coming to life, the depth in his eyes, was so impressive. I enjoy them all but that is my favorite. Also, I can't help but notice how much Princess Beatrice looks like her ancestor Queen Victoria, wow!
These are all so amazing! It really brings them to life, and makes them seem so much more like real people instead of the flat 2 dimensional paintings we've seen! I was especially fascinated by the way it changed Lincolns face when they made him smile!😍
I honestly love these because I makes me feel more connected or interested in these people... I think that the paintings and sculptures are wonderful but there's just something that a recreation captures that makes me feel like I can truly see this person now
I love them all. I recently found out that I'm related to Ann Boleyn, and obviously Queen Elizabeth through my mothers maternal line, and loved that you have them all smiling.
Hello! What a beauty Marie Antoinette was! I also am taken aback by Anne Boleyn. She is captivating and I am drawn to her for some unfathomable reason. I thought Anne of Cleves was lovely, not at all deserving of the moniker of 'the ugly wife'. Thank you. This was a treat. Blessings to you and may you have a happy Christmas.
Wow! I loved the one of Mataoka! I’ve seen that portrait many times in my history courses and tried so hard to imagine what she would’ve looked like in real life. It’s said that the painting was considered by people of her time to make her look too masculine but it’s also considered the most accurate one because she was the one to choose how the drawing was done.
I understand why Marie Antoinette, Anne Boleyn and Anne of Cleves made it into the top three. The reconstruction videos with a good portion of history lesson have been very moving and touching somehow. Even as an adult man I almost cried at the end of each video. 😆I might add the Romanovs to it. Keep up the good work!
I am presently reading edward spencer beesly's 1892 biography of Queen Elizabeth and your brilliant work has really brought her character into focus. Thank you.
I wish we had more African and Asian history. I’m sure they have royals too. Shame many records were destroyed. But this channel is fab and super interesting!!! I’m also surprised by how symmetrical peoples faces are. I thought they’d all be looking weird especially those from 2000 years ago.
I love to watch these! It’s fascinating! I wish you would read a loud the narrative please! I can’t watch the changes and read the explanations at the same time! I have to watch it twice! Thxs!
Anne Boleyn was so lifelike I also thought that Abraham Lincoln was amazing . They say he was an amazing father and you displayed the kindness in his eyes . I really love these recreations
It's nice to see them smile. Shows a personality. They all look good especially, Alexander the Great and Pocahontas. I like it when they are also shown what they would look like in the 21st century close and hairstyle. That way we can reference them to someone we may know that looks like them.
