Your videos are great and so informative. There is one thing about fact 5 that commonly leads to misconceptions. While many children feel most safe and able to speak freely with their caregiver, this is not necessarily the case. Mine triggered my SM (I was never diagnosed but I'm sure that's what it was). I struggled mostly at that age, 3-5 and could always speak to other children. It was only in response to the caregiver that I froze. Starting preschool gave rise to a face to face (rather than side by side or having her back to me) interaction when she'd leave me which was often quite confrontational. Now that I was around teachers ie people with authority who I depended on, I would have difficulty there. I could speak to a degree but very little and when it focused attention with expectation (eg question or instruction) I'd freeze. If adults were watching me, it made me semi-freeze when playing+chatting with other kids as I was savvy and knew they were likely "examining" and judging me. Wow the high profile SM is interesting and answers a Q I have. I thought I'd gotten past it age 5-6 but with adults in authority, I remained unable to expand or initiate for a long time which for me was most likely tied to attachment and trust issues. I still get a visible panic/freeze response with the original caregiver even though I can say more words now, I break down.
