He's also the king of Asian sprinting by far, has 10 of the top 25 fastest Asian times. Read more about how he changed his strategy in the Olympics....if you can't find I could suggest some references. The guy's a juggernaut that will go down not as just the best Asian sprinter but one of the most consistent sprinters period.

Su is the fast in 60m and 100m as he holds both the Asian record, but he is injured in this season unfortunately. Xie holds the 200m Asian record and will make history in the coming Championship in both 100m and 200m.

Xie can break his own record in the 200 m. He's also gone sub 10 in the 100 m not once but twice. However it's depressing to see Su sidelined due to injury, the guy in top form has the potential to do sub 9.9 with perhaps a 2.0 m/s wind reading as well. Hoping he can recover for the Olympics to at least make the final.

It goes off of the date it was ran. Whilst I agree with you that’s not how the IAAF do the lists, unfortunately.

@@AthleticProductionz Bingtian ran twice 9.91, Ogunode ran twice under 9.91. The first time Ogunode did sub 10 was in 2015 when he did it with a wind reading of 1.8m/s and the second time he did was in 2016 when he did it with 0.6m/s. Su ran both 9.91's in 2018 one with 0.2m/s while the other was with 0.8m/s. So while we can argue that one of Su's runs was with less wind reading the other was with more. However something everyone forgets is that Femi Ogonude is a NIGERIAN born sprinter which really makes it unfair to compare him to indigenous Asian sprinters.

@Oliver McCall They both ran 9.91 twice. But Bingtian has done it once with 0.2 m/s wind. Either they're equal using wind legal times, or considering wind as a benefit Su is better.No way Ogunode is better.

Very interesting, that hadn't actually occurred to me but you are spot on. I did compare the top 10s from each continent and Asia is gradually getting there with a lot of the top 10 coming in recently, exciting times. With a population of 1.3 Billion I am very interested as to how long it will take for India to get a few athletes in this list. A lot of potential in India and Asia as a whole.

Forget Asia, it rivals the best all time. The guy has the 5th best 60 m for a reason. His start is perhaps bettered by only by a few legends like Christian Coleman,Jon Drummond, Andre Cason, Asafa Powell,Armin Hary, Maurice Greene and perhaps Justin Gatlin.

To keep things clean I’ve listed every athlete on the list from 1-10 in the order that they appear on the IAAF list hence Su coming in at number 2 despite being joint record holder. There is no disputing Su is the outright fastest man of Asian decent but as of this moment he is joint 1st but listed below Ogunode who despite being Nigerian at birth ran his time before Su whilst Representing Qatar. Hope you understand.

Things changed. I'm so glad we can say he's the best Asian 100 m sprinter period now with an 9.83....miles ahead of any Asian competition. It'll also seriously inspire other athletes that forget the 10-second barrier or the 9.9 even 9.85 can be done in the years to come.

The issues with East Asian athletes are power. East Asians mostly have very good start phase and acceleration phase. But since culturally East Asians don’t appreciate big muscular powerful approach, it really has an impact even on the elite East Asian athletes. Su is kinda one exception, especially with his bulky upper body strength. If East Asians could achieve better power training with more ground force production, there will be more Su Bingtian with their born fast-twitch-muscles. The top-end speed and the last 40m are the keys for Asian sprinters who run 100m. There are quite some good indoor 60m scores that Asian sprinters have achieved. For elite sub10 sprinters, 6.50+3.49 is like a standard 100m split. But many Asian sprinters run like 6.50+3.60. The weaker part is the second half of the race, which results from weak top-end speed and the raw power to maintain top speed.

@@BLACKSTA361 Indians and Pakistanis are one of the most ethnically diverse people on planet, with infrastructure like China India would be abled to produce athletes for any event, the fastest Olympics relay in Asia was run by India even with trashy training and infrastructure, the 3rd fastest 100m sprint in Asia and the fastest 100yard sprint in Asia was ran by a Sri Lankan Tamil descent also with low level infrastructural support. As India and Pakistan gets developed and even Afghans economically, you'll see alot of these records being rewritten over and over again...

It’s an interesting topic of conversation. We see a lot of athletes using their heritage to switch allegiance but Qatar has a few athletes which have no family connection (as far as I know Ogunode is one of those). Nigerian at birth.
