I trained a Japanese bantam as a pet/emotional support. I hatched her June 2022 and hand raised her in the house. Shes very smart and rides my left should in the truck, goes camping and more.
Thanks guys! This was a much needed break from the current situation dominating the news at the moment. Bantams are pretty cool! We may have to consider them in the future. Seabrights are gorgeous!
I got 2 booted bantams this year, both cockerels, and both seem docile so far. Especially Quinn, he just sits on my hand once I pick him up, or he will ride my shoulder, I think he is the most docile out of the bunch of chicks we got this year.
You guys are so knowledgeable on bantams which made me change to raising them but I have a problem finding egg carton for their eggs, ... do you have a source??? I hope so.
None of us currently have bantams in our flocks, but we have in the past. I never used smaller egg cartons, just because I had so many regular ones. I just tried searching for them and didn’t find them anywhere.
My Serama hen will lay 6-7 eggs a week after she has aBout 20 eggs she would want to sit on thoes eggs Even if you take the eggs she stops laying for a week to 3 weeks then goes back to laying She more follows a cycle The light and temperature are constant inside so that's not why she stops laying I let her sit a few times now she's less cranky that way lol Quail eggs work great lol
After this I'm absolutely sure I have Japanese bantams now, at least 2 hens, 1 black tail buff and one white and black, could still be a black tail but no orange, its tail is black.
Serama :) tiniest chickens in the world My hen hatched 8 quail chicks this time I had to put them in the brooder tho My hen is white but the rooster is a mix cuz he's Frizzel feathers I think part silkie They have 3 chicks 2 white one Frizzel The other is black like dad Eggs are tiny bit bigger than the jumbo quail egg I have mine indoors because the rooster is a Frizzel and can't take the cold here
Steve is a Broncos fan??? OMG. I can never trust his judment again! JUST KIDDING! Loved the video. Never have owned any Bantams before so this content was really great info. Thanks guys!
Who kew I grew up in northern Ca amongst t apple peach and pear orchards. Where it was not unommon for some larger ranhes to have small settlements of seasol workers who lived there all year and they always had these little hikens that we called battam probably a breed unto themselves I loved them and hope soeday to have some of my own once again, y mom was no fan of them for various reasons.
My Serama rooster is loud! We love him so. My favorite breed that we have though is my Mille Fleur Belgium (Barbu) D'Uccles. We also have Buff Brahma Bantams and our rooster Henry is the best!!! he takes such good care of his ladies and has no aggression at all. Love bantams!
