Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats ru-vid.comUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.
My grandfather use to drill a small hole threw old corks like that. Then he put a wooden Skewer threw the middle of it. He could tie his fishing line to the Skewer. I have some of them in his old Tackle box that my grandmother give me after he past away. Back in his day, they used corks for whisky bottles. That's where got his. My grand father was big on fishing and even made his own fly hooks.
Man I tell you what I'm a old boy from NC myself who watches fishing videos all the time and by far yours has some of the best tips I've ever seen...keep em coming
Love ALL your videos; even though i’m a hardcore saltwater fisherman! I got a quick hack for you to try out...to wash off the fish smell I use 2 types of soap just as a dry rub with no water when I get to the car...but at home in the bathroom get a bit of soap, shampoo, conditioner, bodywash...i use whatever is in squirt bottles - works like a charm! Thank you for making these videos!
I am in Australia and I share your videos with my brothers who are keen fishermen. Thank you from across the globe. Being stroke affected I am limited with what I can do with one hand. But I still get to wet as line with my shimano, one handed casting reel. Love your videos.
A little late but ... Love your vids. For a line remover, you can take a plastic soda bottle cap or Gatorade cap and drill a hole in the middle of it. Screw in a 1/4'- 3/8" bolt with the bolt threads pointing out of the top of the cap. tighten on a nut and stick the bolt shaft in your drill. Screw on an old plastic bottle, tie your line to the bottle, and strip the line off of your reel. The larger diameter bottle makes it go fast. When done throw away or recycle the bottle with the line on it and use another bottle next time. Free if you have the bolt, and reusable forever.
I preciate you! The hacks are indeed awsome and I like your delivery. Wish I knew of you 25 years ago when I was serious into fishing. Fact is this video may be just what I needed to get on back to it. My motto was when fishing " if I happen to catch some fish it's a bonus". Just being out on the water away from all the bs is worth the price of admission! Hats off to you for a video well done!
Ol my , thank you so much . Your comment just made my day . I actually love building stuff as much as I do using fishing ...... and it's a good thing too cause RU-vid keeps me busy lol , also me and you are a lot alike cause I feel the same way , I enjoy going fishing , catching is just a bonus lol . You should start back fishing I have it up for about 15 years or so . . I fished all the time when I was young then stopped when I had babies to raise . But I eventually got back nto it . I'm editing another Hack video now believe it or not lol . I'll be posting it ta day our tomorrow lol
I save my empty line spools to put used line back on. Pick out a spade bit that fits snug in the center hole and wind it off with the drill just like you did with the dowel.
Good stuff! Line off spool. I use an empty paper towel tube. It fits snug right over the outside of the chuck of my drill that is the same size as yours. Then just throw it in the trash.
Great hacks, watched lots of them. Made some also. Loved the the buckets. Barney from north bay ontario canda. Ice fishing coming... Stay safe. Fish lots.
Thank you Sir , I appreciate that . I read that on a bass fishing article and always remembered it , I found it very interesting and thought other ppl would too
Larry Johns; saw your hack on respooling your reel using a dowel, which is good , but if you use an old medicine bottle , drill a 1/4 inch hole in the lid insert 1/4 pan head bolt and nut - tighten - run in drill , when full remove and drop the whole thing in a Fishing line recycle ben at fishing store , Hey ! It's all plastic . Thank you ! Really Enjoy your Channel .My Favorite ..😁👍
Another good hack I like to store my loose hooks and a wine stopper. It keeps them organized and keeps me from poking my fingers on them when they’re loose in the tacklebox. Just stick all your hooks around the end, it works great keeps them all organized and fits nicely in the box.
VERY informative video, that was great! I like #8. We go to the Dollar Store and buy packs of small glow sticks, about 3 or 4 inches long, then use small zip ties to attach them to the rod tips. They're cheap, easy, and each one lasts for hours. Usually, one a night per rod will do ya.
Ive done that too man and it works good I was just thinking about a way you could get away from having to keep extra stuff , I'll update it if it works out lol , I appreciate you watching Sir
I agree ,, a lot of crazy in America but really I'm just comfortable acting stupid to make ppl laugh while most ppl like you for example are worried about other peoples impression and opinion of you , and that's weakness
Lately we've been taking g a small roll of garden wire with us and securing small smooth rocks with it for weights. For riverbank fishing it beats leaving a pound of lead on the bottom each time out. We also fish from a canoe so while waiting for bites when shore fishing we wrap some stones to keep ready for using walleye rigs from the canoe.
Great as always .I started making bobbers using the cheap ? white ping pong balls that Academy sports sells (50 at $12) and coffee stirrers from Walmart (100 for $2-$3) just use a small drill bit the size if the stirrer drill straight through both sides , try to keep it straight, and slip the stirrer through the pong ball and super glue jell on both sides. You can make 2 bobbers with one stirrer( cut the stirrer in half). Thanks and keep up the good work.
Go ahead brother, that's what we're all here for ,to share and learn. I've also experimented using soda bottle tops of different colors and super gluing them together (open ends) and let dry then drill a hole and put the stirrers through it and finish by super gluing the straws in. Yes I loose a lot of bobbers fishing from the bank, And again thanks for all you do and I'm honored that you'd ask to use my idea, Thanks.
For cat fishing at night I use short glow sticks from the dollar store. Either stick them in the top rod guide or use a clothes pin an just clamp the glow sticks wherever. Awesome videos!! Keep them coming bud!!
You got a "thumbs up" 30 seconds into the video because you make me giggle......love watching your stuff....call me Monday, we gotta finish our chat.....
I posted last week missed the week before , sometimes some videos eat up a lot more time than others . Ima try and get ahead Christmas and stay on schedule next year
Man that was an awesome list! There are several items on that list that I need to a dress for my own fishing and I will be updating what I do immediately. Thank you for the awesome video sir I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Well heck we practically neighbors man , I work and grew up in Gastonia, graduated from Hunter Huss back in the Stone age lol . I appreciate you subscribing man , I just posted a new Hack video today
Thank you Sir , to many serious people in the world today , and they always getting offended about everything , so I'll just make fun of myself hahaha , I appreciate it brother
I’m guilty..I’m guilty!! I judged you by how you speak. So glad I didn’t let it keep me from finishing your videos. I’m now a subscriber and a believer. Great videos thanks.
Also you can use the wine corks to keep your hooks in so they don't get tangled and float if they fall in the water. I use one for small, medium, and large hooks.
In the UK. I use small chemical glow sticks. Fix it to the top of my rod tip, with electrical insulation tape. Some of the glow sticks will last days. So if you stick the n the freezer, they'll stop glowing. Take it out and as it defrost, it glows again. Just make sure you dispose of the in the dustbin / trash can. Not throw them into the water or leave the on the ground.
Hey like your hacks . I fish only at night for slab crappie in Tennessee , several months ago I tried painting my rod tips with glow in the dark paint after sanding them a little with a brush. It lead to uneven coverage, tried some expensive spray paint also with ok results. But then I came up with an idea so I got a piece of 1 inch PVC pipe and a cap for it about a foot long then I put a screw cap on the other end , put the paint in the pipe and dipped the rod tips in the pipe, had six painted in 5min. Let dry then reopen the eyelets by using a nail. Worked great with good heavy coverage and a green glow. Just thought I would throw that out there. Like your video on planner boards .. keepem coming
That there , is a great ideas Sir . I appreciate you sharing that . I'm going to use that technique on my own rods, I've got a FB group I just started called all things fishing DIYs and that's what it's about sharing DIY tricks with each other you should join man
@@FishinNStuff don't know 2 bothers landed in Charleston south Carolina in the 1800s from Ireland 1 supposedly went to Texas and my great grandfather went to n North Carolina where he married a Cherokee and had 4. Or 5 kids
@@CRDODGE47 you never know man , my grandfather lived in Kentucky when he was young then moved to North Carolina , still you never know I could have come from the one from Texas lol
Comment/question> About the glow in the dark rod tips. Back in the day, you could buy small battery operated flashlight with a mini black light. STREN line used to glow in the black light so if you had your light on at night, you could see the line. I have not night fished for years so I don't know if this is still true or not. Plus the orange poles you had show also glow pretty good under a black light. Used to use little , what we called jingle bells and attach to the pole.
Haha heck I crack myself up some times when I'm editing that stupid crap I do haha , I can Just hear my wife saying,,,,,,,,,,, something's wrong with you hahaha
This your first video I seen. I just subscribed to your channel. You explained everything in a way even I can understand lol. I love your hacks, I shall try some of them myself soon. Thank you!!
Just subscribed. Good Channel. Seen you guys on Wylie at the 49 Bridge. You stopped by my boat. I picked up 3 nice fish out of that spot. One channel, nice Flathead and blue. I will take it since it been SLOW! :) I only found fish it 30+ water.. That drill method works great much better than those cheap line strippers. I like the ketchup hack... I need to try that so I don't go to work smelling like cut bait...
Thank you brother, I appreciate your support buddy . I was nice meeting you and getting to talk to ya . My buddy said he thought he saw you at the Great Outdoors before his son is a boat mechanic there. Ol and the Ketchup truck works great ppl used tomatoes to get the smell off of em when skunks sprayed em in the old days . That's where I learned it lol
@@FishinNStuff He did. I purchased a 40HP engine for my other boat. I live like 10 minutes from the place. Nice to meet you guys as well. You can never know to many fishing folks.!
It's also a great way to help a plant with root rot. Any disease that staves the roots of oxygen will die from hydrogen peroxide applied to the roots and the extra oxygen will bring the plant back to life. Also good for hydroponic reservoirs.
Hey thank you Sir for watching , I really appreciate that , I didn't know where Currituck County was lol had to look on Google maps . You lucky dog you practically live at the beach haha , thanks for commenting brother
Instead of a wooden dowel we always used pencils. Everybody and they momma has a pencil somewhere. Cheap glow paint is fingernail polish. It also holds up pretty good if you want to add some touches to baits. After halloween you can pick it up on clearance for like 25 cents a bottle. I suggest dropping 2 BBs down in the bottle, the pigment settles and takes forever to shake up. The BBs act like the marble in a spray can.
you can also use the corks to attach to small things with a little detachable clip. if you drop them in advertantly, you can retrieve them, because they float! obviously, it wont work for larger things. for that i use pieces of pool noodle. but, if you wanted to you could do one for each lure, just incase l! but yeah, overkill and space. I usually lock everything valuable in the car and bring a single key. that would work as a floating keychain. Combine that with the glow in the dark paint or tape and you got a bright colored night time float! you seem like youd be fun to fish with. thanks for the only "hacks" video ive watched that actually has useful info in it.
You can wash your hands with tomato juice also, it'll take the stank off your hands. If your dog gets sprayed by a skunk, you can pour tomato juice on it and scrub it down good then rinse her off.
Bo I just love your videos. I musta missed a couple of them - thought I had seen them all. Anyway thanks for putting good videos up and representin NC with good DIY. Appreciate you man.
Man everybody know stuff , there's things I have know clue about but other people do , that's why we help each other , no body knows it all . And when you think you do you stop learning
Great video man. I really like that peroxide tip it will come in handy. And those cuda shears are great. I ordered a pair a couple of weeks ago and i love em.
Reflective tape on the end of your fishing rod is also good for night fishing on the tips of your rods. Great video just subscribed to you, one of the best I’ve seen in ages all the way from the Isle of Man 🇮🇲
I find it pretty good as it catches the moon light. I don’t have it on all my rods but the occasional few More so my beach casters or the odd boat rod.
Great tips will have to try the new ones I hadnt heard of. I knew you was a NC boy as soon as I heard you talk 😉 I think I'm gonna really like your channel and not just because your a neighbor.
ITS REFRESHING AS HECK TO HAVE A SMART PERSON WHO IS WILLING TO SHARE HIS KNOWLEDGE, ALSO NOT TRYING TO SELLYA A BUNCH OF SH$$.THANKS FOR THE VIDS OVIEDO FL..
Thank you brother, thanks for the kind words , thanks for watching and mostly thanks for calling me smart haha most ppl just think I'm crazy , but if you can't have fun it ain't worth doin lol I appreciate you leaving an awesome comment buddy
If you have a aquarium and the power goes out you can but hydrogen peroxide and sliced up potatoes in a bottle with a air tube an air stone coming out the lid it will provide oxygen to the water for your fish
Does nobody else drink wine? I have kept my own wine corks for a few decades - back into the 1970s at least. They have an enormous number of uses because they are such a great flotation and insulating material. I farm in Portugal where the cork grows. They do make great fishing floats too.
I've never been a big wine drinker lol . I tried to drink some because they say it good for your health , but I liken to have never finished that bottle lolol
@@FishinNStuff If you only use the corks for fishing floats then pay for the wine and I will send you the corks. Seriously you should try a few wines. You look the sort of man who enjoys his food without being greedy, and with a bit of experimentation you will find a wine to suit most things you eat. It really does add to the enjoyment. For the record, I am not a wine producer, just a wine drinker. I grow olives.
For night fishing I usually use a bell. But my dad is hard of hearing so I have started using the cheap $1 packs of glowsticks bracelets. I use electrical tape to put 2 joints on the pole and then you can just pop the sticks in and out.
You can use some Pipe Cleaner as Flags. Bend it, add some weight and you are done. Or if you fishing at night. Use some Kinder Eggs. You can put a mini glow stick inside.
Rad, If you don't have ketchup to clean your hands you can use table salt. Wet your hands and pour about 1/2 a teaspoon on your hands rub them together just like washing and rinse. fish smell is gone. This is also great for getting rid of onion and garlic orders from your hands. Another use for salt: To get the fish blood out of your white tee shirts or whatever you splattered blood on. Wet the blood spot/s with COLD water, (warm or hot water will set the blood and it will stain), sprinkle salt on wet blood spot, rub the salt in to make a paste, let it dry, then wash & dry as usual. Blood is gone.
You don't need to use ketchup, you can use any acidic (safe) substance. It's the acid that breaks down the scent molecules. Try white vinegar, lemon juice, even orange juice. I use white vinegar to clean everything including the bathroom, floors, kitchen counters, even clothes.
I use a coke bottle hotglued to a wood dowle(no need to cut line off because bottle collapses and line slides off end) and I also use gloss white spray paint on the end of my rods and most nights I don't even need lights because you can see the rod tips in the moonlight
Love the vids man. I build rods and there's thread for the guides you can use on the tip that glow and then you can mix glow paint with second coat of finish epoxy. Also add some fine glitter in eooxy to sparkle. Keep it up man.
@@FishinNStuff yes sir. Rods built to order. Going to start a channel soon about my adventures into this life of fishing. I also paint lures from cranks and ploppers to jigs and spinner/buzzbaits. Wire tie skirts and all.
Sounds like that might be a really good channel , and showing ppl what you make and how much work gos into it , it could be very lucrative . Ppl ask me to sell em stuff all the time but I don't make stuff to sell ,I work full time and do RU-vid on the side
@@FishinNStuff same boat man. I started making rods and painting lures for myself for the tourney season. The lure part is a huge savings on my end, so if I break off a jig/crank I'm not losing 5$ or more everytime. Just a way to save money for the season and with the rods I can make handle length how I want which is great for me being 6'2 having long arms and flipping most any baits here in FL. The butt doesn't get caught up in my shirt and I know the guides will be on the spine every rod I make. No more 100$+ 13rod with the spine on the side.
@@FishinNStuff you could sell stuff for extra income, upcharge that 30$ bait cooler to 60$+ s&h. Also i tell people it's actually better to do it yourself than pay me for it to be done. Plus leaves you with more time on the water haha
Cool stuff to have under your hat or in your boat......I hate having more than one tackle bag, I almost can't remember the one I have..... LOL Guess that's why I only chase crappie.... Sweet edit..... Been busy for me I'll hit you back soon...
Using a bobber as a flag. I use to do the same thing starting back in the 1970s but instead of using a float I would use a matchbook and just close it around the line and it would hang from the rod and reel. Since the bottom of the rod and the real were close to the ground, I would put the matchbook on the line between the reel and the first ring, pull the matchbook and the line out, and lay the matchbook on the ground. When you got a fish on the line the matchbook would be dragged across the ground not only giving you a visible flag but also resulting in a noise alerting you to action.
for fishing hack #9 , you can buy paramedic shears waaaaay cheapper and those can even cut even some metal sheets, I've even cut bicycle steel brake cable with them
My fishing hack night fishing.I use salty hot dogs this is for when the bait shops are closed..go to the all night store get a soda in a cup grab a few extra lids.I call this my strike indicator.cast ur bait out loop your line back put the lid where the straw hole is push it and the slack line onto your rod.the lid when the fish pulls the lid going over the eyes makes a racket fish on.that's my hack.
I made my line stripper with a 10/32 bolt and nut. Drill a hole in the center of a pop bottle cap. Stick the bolt & nut on it. Bolt goes in the drill. Twist an empty pop bottle on the cap. Bigger dia pulls line off faster. Chuck the bottle in the recycle bin.
