For Celtic brother Alfred came rom Dublin and was working in a church then ssaw all the starving children in schools so he started a football to feed the unprivileged children and it was called the Celtic foundation and it's still up and running today
It was Brother WALFRID from SLIGO. In 1887, he founded The Celtic Football Club (first match played 1888) as a means of raising funds for the Catholic poor and deprived in the East End of Glasgow, many of whom were Irish immigrants. In 2006 The Celtic Foundation was established within the football club itself to co-ordinate the club's social, educational and community work under one umbrella. Celtic FC Foundation was established in late 2013 by merging The Charity Fund (founded 2005) with the Celtic Foundation, establishing a stronger charity with a wider role and greater reach.
