I agree. Also, I think he'd have stayed with 49ers for few more years too. 49ers chose not to resign him during off season since he fumbled ball against NYG at NFC championship game that cost win for 49ers. That did same happen to Earnst Byner against Denver Broncos.

@p.michaelpell6540
@p.michaelpell6540 3 года назад
@B.J. Banditt well Craig and I'm completely spacing on the fullback, but they were the real heroes for the creation of the "West Coast" offense. That entire new age offense back then would've failed had they not had a dynamic backfield like they did. Their entire scheme was predicated off of the play-action pass and the screen. And RC ran the screen better than any back in those days and that essentially opened up the running game cuz the 49ers had defenses stretched to the max. They didn't know whether to stay in base, blitz, or drop back in zone. That is what created their dynasty. Then Ronnie Lott and crew gained steam and then it was game over. Roger Craig was truly a pioneer in creating on of the more lethal offensive schemes when football used to be run run pass.

Joe theisman was a top 15 QB in the 80s he had the numbers but injuries plagued him.

@paulweston8408
@paulweston8408 3 года назад
The biggest problem a lot of these players face is that while they were playing, several others were every bit as good as them or better. During the early part of the 2000's several teams had bell cow running backs that racked up big yards. Then the focus shifted to the passing game and a lot of players had 1000 yard seasons yearly. MANY people should be in the Hall of Very Good, but the HOF should be the best of the best. That said I imagine several of these players will make it in one day.

I agree about Eddie George, and also about Torry Holt. However, the one omission which rankles me the most is Bo Jackson. I know that many say his career didn't last long enough to get enough yardage stats for the Hall. However, I have never seen a man who made everyone else on the field look like boys until I got to see Bo. Bo was so dominant that every year he played ought to count as 3 years for someone like Eddie George or Walter Payton. What if Michael Jordan's career had only lasted 4 years? What if Tiger Woods had died after playing only 4 years in his prime? Bo was even better at football than Jordan and Woods were at their sports. Bo's omission makes the Hall itself appear bogus -- because how can you leave out the best player who ever played the game?

The HOF voters seem to dismiss the 80's Niners as a "system" team due to Bill Walsh's coaching innovations. Thus the actual players don't get much respect besides Montana, Rice, and maybe Ronnie Lott.

Sam Mills should be in the Hall of Fame. He was a key part and the on-field brains of not one, but TWO great NFL defenses: The New Orleans Saints' Dome Patrol defense and the early great Carolina Panther defense. His play and on-field play-calling (as in calling the opposing offense's play) helped create and cement Carolina's great defense reputation. Though he didn't have the large sack numbers, he was usually in the right place at the right time to make a play. It's a shame he's been snubbed.

Jim Marshall was a 70's Vikings player. HOF voters are really hard on the 70's Vikings because they lost three Superbowls in that decade, and they already lost one in the late 60's to boot (and I believe Marshall played on the Vikings when they lost all 4 Superbowls).

Jim Marshall. A Dark Horse DE of one of the most prominent and long term defenses in the history of the NFL, The Purple People Eaters, of the NFL during an era when football was gritty. Amassed 270 (277 if you include post season play) consecutive starts (still an active record among defensive players); the original Iron Man! 130.5 career sacks! 30 career fumble recoveries (current NFL record). All overshadowed by the infamous "Wrong Way fumble recovery run" which resulted in a safety against the 49ers in a game that was ultimately won by the Vikings on the shoulders of a Jim Marshall forced fumble recovered and returned by HOFer Carl Eller. In modern day football, we idolize players' ability to play through injuries and keep streaks going. This modern era of football has plenty of rules and regulations that protect players and allow them to lengthen their streaks and careers. This man played and played tough football in elements that saw below freezing temperatures when the rules weren't so forgiving as today. As a Superfan of the game since preschool days in mid 80's, I didn't get the pleasure to see this era, but I absolutely admire the history of the game. Jim Marshall deserves to be immortalized in the Pro Football Hall of Fame!

Cedrick Hardman(DE) -> Averaged 10.7 sacks a season in 14 game aeasons during his career(an overwhelmining majority of his career was spent in 14 game seasons: almost all of his prime was). In his best season, he had 18 sacks in a 14 game season! Plus, he was pretty consistent; his sack totals didn't drop off much from one season to the next. During his career, he averaged a sack in 4 out of every 5 games! He needs a PR firm... Joe Staley(OT): Off Lineman don't really have stats, but you have to watch them play... Sterling Sharpe: With a player like Sterling, you have to look at averages and his best seasons in the time that he had. If you look at his career, he probably had a better career at WR than Sayers as all-around player per season. In addition, Sharpe excelled before Favre even got there, as well! ...And, ask the CBs and his WR comtemporaries as to what they thought of him. Dante Hall: now that Hester got in, it's his time now. He was the human joystick or the pro version of what Sanders did as a returner at OSU...He and Hester had very different styles--Hester needed lanes/blocking and Hall generated lanes pretty often. Doesn't Herschel Walker get in when you combine both of his leagues?! I think that may have been what got Moon in. Don't know about Craig; although, you could make the argument that he was a pioneer to Faulk and all those that followed. The 49ers did not have a system that would allow him to get typical RB type of numbers, so--if he wanted to be a HOFer--maybe he should have won a couple of rings and, then, go where hs could have proved that he was a HOFer! If you don't do that, you may be on the outside looking in for a very long time(if you ever make it). By the same token, imagine what Taylor could have been.
