Bloo Burry I thought I was the only one experiencing this... they keep telling me hamster so I keep yelling THEY’RE GUINEA PIGS! THEY SQUEAK LIKE A FAT CHUBBY GUINEA PIG!
tbsfunnies I have 2 guinea pigs. One is really brave and if you don’t pay attention you may lose a finger. And the other is bold and love to be pet and cuddled.
I can confirm that the napping with open eyes part is true. One day one of my piggies was just lying there in the cage, motionlessly with her face half buried in hay and an empty glare. So I poked her to see if she was okay and she looked at me like "Bitch, stop poking me, go to the fridge and get me some damn salad."
Omg when my piggies did this the first time I picked them up and was like WAKE UPPP DONT TELL ME I KILLED YOU IN THE FIRST WEEK and he was like listen bitch I’m tryna take a nap chill out.
So in Switzerland if you buy two guinea pigs and one dies, you are forced to buy another each time? That's a huge commitment! You will be forced to own a pig for life. XD
Jim V well if you have a guinea pig and it's only one it will be lonely cuz I searched it up and it said that guinea pigs get lonely if you only owe one I think
twitchster77 no. You got that scientific fact wrong. The scientifically proven cutest animal ever is the cat when baby. Kitty. But piggies are adorkable. 😍
When my cousin first saw my guinea pig he gave him the nickname “Mr. McFatkins” and he’s been calling my guinea pig that for years now. It’s gotten to the point where my guinea pig responds to that better than he responds to his own name, all because my cousin overfeeds him treats while calling him “chubkins” or “Mr. McFatkins”
.My poor baby Squeaky died recently and left Stormy (his bro) behind, but Storms is doing just fine! He's always been a very calm and laid-back guinea, so we're almost glad Squeaky died first (Squeakers was quite jumpy and nervous when left alone). We take amazing care of him and bring him for half an hour of cuddles every day if we can
lettuce child my guinea lives alone and she’s the happiest little pig out there! I’ve never heard her make sounds or distress. So I guess it depends on the pig! I always cuddle with her :)
lettuce child I have a guinea pig. I have always heard him squeak happily. I don’t go to school the whole day, so I have a lot of hours to play with Bubble. I was just playing with him earlier, for about 45 minutes. Sometimes guinea pigs are happy to live alone. I love my Bubble. I know he loves me from all the love he gives me! He has no problems. He is very calm and adventurous and happy! Please think that some people don’t need a second guinea pig, because they act like the guinea pig’s second pal. What I am trying to say is that sometimes, humans act like a second guinea pig to a guinea pig. Sorry if it does not make sense
If only Finland had this law too... Way too often I see someone saying something about their quinea pig and then I tell them that you have to have at least two guinea pigs and they reply ”But I keep so much company to it, it doesn’t need another guinea pig” and I’m ready to explode from anger
I have a question. How long can it take for a guinea pig to be comfortable around you? One of my guinea pigs I have had for 6 months and the other I’ve had for one month. They are both incredibly shy
Riley .H thanks but ever since I commented I’ve been doing lots of good stuff for my guinea pig and now she loves me and runs to me every time I see her thanks tho😊
Just fond your channel! I have 3 guinea pigs and your so right about them alway being hungry!😂 I subscribed and would you mind checking out my channel? You don't have to if you don't want to though. This was such and awesome video and I hope I can make mine as good as yours!!
Love your video and all the amazing pictures of piggies, I could sit and watch it for hours! Just wanted to point out for historical accuracy though Queen Elizabeth I never married or had children.
Aw thank you for liking and commenting on the video! I rechecked now my mistake and you're right. I must have confused the statement "Elizabethan children" (with her actual 3 children).Oh my!. I'm so sorry. :( Should have paid more attention while doing research... Thank you for pointing this out! :)
FunGooble no worries totally understandable! Didn't want to call you out, but I just wanted to make sure you knew just for authenticity's sake! But I really do love your video and seeing all my favorite pigs!
My guinea pig does that too! But he also doesn’t like my glasses, so sometimes he’ll take my glasses off my face and toss them off to the side. So far he’s broken 3 pairs by tossing them off to the side, making them hit the wall. He usually just ends up breaking the frames, but there was one time when the lenses got cracked from being tossed onto concrete
The law about not having one Guinea pig is understandable but we had a Guinea pig who couldn’t be around other guinea pigs. We tried for weeks but he would sit and tremble and not eat or drink if he was in the same house as other guinea pigs :/ he lived a very happy life as a free roam single guinea pig.
Beingnormal yep, we adopted two brothers together when they were two weeks old. They used to fight a lot, at one point one of them was covered in blood. Unfortunately, one of them died at the age of 3 for unknown reasons, but when he died the left over piggie because MUCH more happy and relaxed- he literally used to be feral! He lived a happy life and died in December at a good age of 6, considering his brother died at 3- the litter may have been not the best genetically. Love you Billy!
@@bernadettepotenti5350 Well, your guinea pig might not like the guinea pig that you had. If you had 2 male guinea pigs you would have to try many guinea pigs because males tend to be aggressive (humping, etc). If you have only tried one match instead of personally finding the most etiquette pig for you, it is hard to determine if it is "nonsense". Or, your pig could just be a guinea pig who does not have the characteristic of being social.
In my mind it's always illegal to own only one no matter where you live I will give people crap for owning only one....that's why I have 6. Eve, Emma, cuddles, daisy, truffle, and oreo. I love my little sqeakers
My guineas alllll drain their water and lay in it while eating hay. I have to refill their water every few hours. These are teh names, though I bet no one cares: Hearthstone, crescent, Delphi, Alphie, Pippen, Kermit, Telma, and Spirit
Thank you so much for your feedback! I just have to apologise and correct my mistake in the last fact. Those children in the picture weren't the children of Queen Elisabeth. They were Elisabethan, meaning children of some nobles of that era. Thank you once again for liking the video!
Show them this video :P Or any videos of guinea pigs! How could one resist their cute faces? Also, show them how well informed you are and that you are ready to take care of them. Good luck! 😊
Heyguys imjodie you get responsibility, you can learn them trics (yes you read that right), they are SO cute(!!!) And don 't take much place or time. I've had Guinea pigs for like my whole life now, and they are really attached to humans if you cuddle them Daily (especially at the beginning)
They are a big responsibility just so you know. They need a big space to live in specially if you’re getting more than one (which I highly recommend since they are social animal) they do cost a lot of money and care. Other than cuddles and food they require dairy maintenance since they poop all day. I recommend you do your thorough research on them and if you are up for the care of guinea pigs then tell your parents all your information and commit to the cute little furries
so when one died you would be forced to give up your pet or "rent" some poor cavy to bond with another cavy and human until it's not needed and sent back? I think we can do better.
My son bought 2 piggies. Pet store said they were both male. Wrong. We had 21 piggies altogether. Make sure one isn't a female or pregnant . I was buying 20 pounds of food a week
non guinea pig friend:oh, you have a guinea pig. That’s so cute! I love it when the run around the tubes and use a wheel! Me: oh you must be talking about a hamster Non guinea pig friend: well they are pretty much the same thing Me: *rage intensifies*
In my country we say "Cavia". I have right now 5 guinea pigs called Roos, Ruby, Anna, Lala and Lori. Before them I had Romy, Ranja, Robijntje (Robijn means ruby) and Renee. They were 3 years old. The 5 I have right now are also 3 years, but they are still lively and I love them! They are so soft and nice... I'll always love them, even when they are gone.
Wow thank you so much! ^_^ I just have to apologise and correct my mistake in the last fact. Those children in the picture weren't the children of Queen Elisabeth. They were Elisabethan, meaning children of some nobles of that era. Thank you once again!
At about 5:40 you talked about Queen Elizabeth I having Guinea pigs as pets then went to a portrait of three children with a Guinea pig, and you said they were Elizabeth's children -- Elizabeth I was never married and never had children.
I love guinea pigs so much, i've owned 10 in my lifetime and i don't regret any of it, they're the sweetest little companions you could own, i personally think they're the best rodents too. 💙
They are NOT Order Rodentia. They and capybara are the only mammals left of the Species Cavy. Cavy are born fully developed and able to fend for themselves in 5-10 minutes of birth. No rodent does that. Cavy also have unique digestive systems. That's why they eat their CECAL pills, but rarely their FECAL pills. Research it yourself.
I own one guinea pig and she’s extremely happy and playful. She spends at least 1-2 hours a day snuggling, sleeping, and playing with me. I guess that makes me a criminal in Switzerland.
Try just sitting down by their cage and hanging out with them, talking to them softly. That's what I did for my piggy when I first got him, and now he's super people friendly. I mean every guinea pig is different, but having them get used to yoir voice and overall presence will definitely help. Also guinea pigs instinctively bolt when startled, so don't always take it personally, sometimes they might just do that if you move too fast, they are naturally skittish little guys, but some are more skittish than others, it all depends on the guinea pig.
Guinea pigs don't eat any poop they produce. They are certain specific ones, which they recognise by smell. Well, don't knw if they notice the difference already before they exit the guinea pig :) These special drops can be called 'vitamin capsules'. Well, we take vitamin drops also, but in different form :) These 'capsules' have a concentration of vitamins, which the short bowel system of the animal couldn't use in the first round: it just prepared the vitamins to be accessible. In the second round the guinea pigs gets the vitamins.
My guinea pig jake died in my lap, I played music for him while, covered him with a blanket, and stroked him. He also had a pillow under his head. He was comfortable, happy, and sick. He's been sick all his life, he had lung issues. The reason I know he has happy was because he was yawning, which is a sign of guinea pig happiness. Hopefully he's enjoying playing with his mate and brother. Rest in peace my little jake, I hope your little tights are still looking good!
I used to think mine was trying to store his own poop. Like he was on some stranded island & worst case scenario... Eat your own poop. So I've always spot cleaned & he always squeaks & watches. He gets in the way sometimes too. So yes, I always thought he was trying to block me & he actually likes his own secretions. Like it was something comforting to him. Bc his smells = king of his own castle. Now that he's used to me, he seems like he may actually be a neat freak. Bc sometimes he even popcorns when I clean up his area. But I can't say I've ever witnessed him eat his own poop. But I wouldn't put it pass him if he did. I'm js, I've never seen him do it tho.
You can send us pigtures or videos from your piggies. We will feature you on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter page- facebook.com/theofficialpetstories/

We had one that lived about a decade, and would have lived longer if they didn't have to put her down. She was very skinny and probably in a lot of pain and they decided it was best. I never had one that lived longer.
Some guinea pigs are astonishingly intelligent. I had a male American short-hair that was off-the-charts smart. He mastered about 8 different verbal commands ("sit", "come here", "go fetch your ball", "bring me your brush", etc.). He was also exceptionally friendly. Perhaps intelligence and friendliness go hand-in-hand. He also loved music. When my stereo was playing music, he would run over to the speaker and park himself there - occasionally squealing with pleasure. He also had what I would describe as a primitive sense of humor. He would sometimes come up to me and head-butt me, then run away squealing and pop-corning with pleasure when I yelled "bad pig." After about a minute or two of this victory dance, he would return and climb into my lap to show that there were really no hard feelings. He was a real charmer.
Me: Oh yeah. I have 2 guinea pigs. Friend: Oh yeah! I love watching them run around in their wheels and stuff food into their cheeks! Me: I think you’re talking about a hamster Friend: there practically the same thing Me: OH SO YOU THINK SO?
The sexual maturity is an issue: lots of vets don't know they could bei neutered at about 3 weeks. Because at about 250g they are likely to sexual acivity. Most owners don't have elder males they can join.
