The movie Masters of the Universe wasn't based on the cartoon series, it was based on the toy line that preceeded the cartoon series. That's why several characters who first appeared in the cartoon weren't in it
I was just about to make a post cussing people who continually dunk on Masters of the Universe. Yes, its a niche film, but people love it, not for _its so bad its good_ reasons, but just that people do actually enjoy it. I'll tack this onto your post! 😀
@@lucaskobain That's a stupid argument. So, Christopher Lee's Dracula was the first popular movie that was based on the Dracula book, so should all Dracula films be based on that film because of its success rather than the original book? Sam Raimi's Spiderman, where the furore was *real* that Peter had organic webshooters; should every subsequent Spiderman film ignore the comic book origins because the Raimi Spiderman films were so popular?
Superman 3 also had that frankly terrifying sequence in which that woman is pulled into the computer and transformed into a cyborg. THAT was my main memory of watching that as a kid.
I hated that moment and that character. It would have been a much better film without them. In fact, I pretty much like everything else about Superman III.
Said robot transformation was rumored to be a remnant of earlier scripts which had *Brainiac* as the villain for part III, back when Richard Donner was still in charge of the franchise. The third film probably had a lot of rejected screenplays made before the final film was released, so who knows how or why Brainiac, who was most known for shrinking cities to preserve them and then destroying the planets they were on, would’ve tried to “roboticize” ordinary citizens into his soulless slaves. Or hell, maybe I’m wrong, maybe it’s a freaking remnant of an entirely different script where Metallo was the villain, since he’d also dabble in forcing other people into becoming Metallo cyborgs with human brains in robot shells too.
Yeah. It wasn't nearly as good as the original trilogy, but it wasn't terrible. I'd actually say it's the best of the prequel trilogy. My biggest complaint (as I'm sure most people will agree) was Lucas severely overplaying his comic relief (ie Jar Jar Binks got way too much screen time).
I'm trying to think of other movie scenes that could make this list, and the first thing I thought of is Alien 3. Nowhere near as good as the first two movies, but I thought the camera work of the 4 legged alien (because it incubated in a dog instead of a human) running along the walls and ceiling through the corridors was very well done. Just from a cinematography perspective, it was a visually exciting scene, unlike anything from the first two.
Just thought of another movie line that could make this list: Star Trek 5: The Final Frontier Captain Kirk asking "What does God need with a spaceship?" Very quotable moment.
The Quicksilver scene in X:Men Apocalypse. A very well shot action sequence that is both visually and technically impressive, only to be used in an extremely boring and disappointing movie
Do you mean the one in Days of Future Past? Maybe there was another one in Apocalypse (can barely remember that film) but the DoFP scene with "Time in a Bottle" playing was absolutely classic.
"Please Mr Frost. Please don't freeze me. Please don't freeze me. Please don't freeze my horse." Blues Brothers 2000 is worth a viewing just for that scene.
Transformers 5 has an incredible moment between Optimus and Megatron, where it’s just Peter Cullen and it’s just Frank Welker, they’d been doing this for 35 years at this point, and Megatron says “We were brothers once” and Optimus says “Once.” And I think that is genuinely a great moment… in what’s possibly the worst movie I’ve ever seen
The amazing thing about the Street Fighter line is that it is so universally true. Most school bullies, for example, don't recall being bullies. They left you with the trauma while they barely even remember their interactions with you
Being sliced in half didn't kill Maul. He survived through/because his anger. He returned in the Clone Wars Series and later in the Rebels series, where he has a final duel with Obi-Wan.
@@austintrousdale2397 No one would have died, as he'd just cut the cable with his saber, because he's a sith. Then he'd kill them all anyway, and take the gold, because, well, he's a sith. ...Most sith like ghosts. They taste great with ketchup.
frank langella said that skeletor is still his favorite character he's ever done. it's a master class in acting, he really stole every scene in that movie
-For The Goods, I gotta bring up Craig Robinson’s character as a bright spot. -I think Frank Langela’s performance as Skeletor and Raul Julia’s performance as Bison possess absolute similarities. You have two very respected actors in cheesy movies who went in to deliver top notch performances. Both men killed their roles.
X-men 3 did to the dark Phoenix story what the Star Wars prequel did to the darth Vader story. Plus they took magneto and mystiques power away. Idgaf what happened on the chess board in the end. Save it
The Jedi telling a child he's morally irredeemable because he's afraid to lose his mother poisoned the Jedi, the Republic, and Yoda for the rest of the franchise for me I'd rather have been bored
I liked Masters of the Universe. (maybe not being a fan of the cartoon had something to do with it.) My favourite scene was Lubik yelling at Skeletor's troop, "Freeze!' And then ducking as they blast the car he's hiding behind. He pops up, 'Holy sh*t... I think I'm going to need some back-up! (though my favourite line from Skeletor is in the Robot Chicken Criminal Carpool skit. 'Bow before the power of the Skeletor Burrito!')
I loved Ghost Ship! It was a popcorn movie, with an enjoyable ensemble cast, and great fun! Who was looking for a profund story in a movie named Ghost Ship? 😜 But if you like easy fun, check it out! I think it was mentioned because it made for a great example on the list, the opening scene WAS Epic after all! 😁 ...Wait a minute, maybe WC is right and I was just taken in by the opening scene! 😂
I don't hate BB2k... I am just thankful every day that it was made before we ended up with a CGI John Belushi and Cab Calloway. Look at Ghostbusters... Akroid would do it.
Frank Langella as the Skeletor was in some superb Shakespearean mod - every single line he uttered was elevated to pure brilliance, in total disbalance with poor/mediocre movie with great soundtrack.
