Some other candidates: Rios's drop volley Seles' angles Henin's one-handed backhand Monfils's mid-air forehand McEnroe's half-volley Venus's backhand on the run Clijsters' sliding forehand Navratilova's backhand volley Radwanska's sneaky drop shot Nalbandian's jumping backhand
Even before watching the video we knew that the Banana hit by Rafa against Verdasco gonna be #1! Didn't we?! Good video btw., some old iconic shots are missing. Connors skyhook etc r more iconic than Gasquet bhs.
Return is not an actual “shot”, it’s just one of the elements of the tennis technics! Unless we are talking about very specific return shot from very specific angle! If not then there is no difference how he choses to play his backhand, whether it’s on return, in active rally or at the net! Backhand is a backhand - if it’s good - it is good everywhere, not just during serve retruns…
None of the channel has highlighted Nadals forehand. The one he whips it above his head with the back swing. I don't know what it's called but he was the first who had that stroke and we see many tour players with men and women having it especially as a defensive stroke. Nadal gets crazy angle with it though because it generates the extra spin.
@@commondirtbagz7130 well, I don't see it before Rafa. His generation made baseline a prominent game and basically killed serve and volley. That's when I first saw anyone doing that buggy whip
I feel like lots of legends of the past are sidelined and get snubbed for this very subjective top-10 list if favor of more recent tennis stars! There are bunch of players from 80’s and even 70’s, whose shots are more iconic than those of Gasquet’s or Gonsalez’s or even Del Potro’s! For example - Edberg’s low volleys, Lendl’s power backhand down the line, McEnroe’s magical touch and reflexes at net, Connors’ running slice backhands and so on…
Whilst I agree, video footage from that long ago is often very poor quality which might result in less views/watch time, so it’s kind of understandable from the uploaders perspective. Your not wrong though.
