Plus, while I don't think he's the type of dude who can make wrestling a broom-stick entertaining, he has worked some great matches over his a career, especially in the last 10 years.

His time has already passed. He isn’t a top draw anymore. At the beginning of the decade he was but everybody rejected him so he became a way to push or introduce young talents. He is still entertaining but just can’t stand the test of time like Jericho.

The start of the decade was fueds with CM Punk, Orton, and Nexus (even though it should have ended different the story still good up til that point). His matches with The Rock were huge draws to the company and one of the only things keeping some fans around. His fueds with Brock, while you could argue it was Brock who drew the fans you could say that Cena played the part of "guy fans want to see get crushed by Lesnar" or "guy who everyone just really wants to beat Brock". He had the whole John Laurinitis feud, the Authority storyline. Finally his amazing US Title run and fued with Roman Reigns that ultimately now gets him cheered. I think leaving Cena out is major recency bias.

Apparently not everyone hates him considering that 90% of the comments here are people whining about him not being on the list.

Agreed. He was on the top of the game since 2009. He wasn't top guy of just one company; he was top guy everywhere(TNA, ROH, NJPW, WWE). So, a guy who didn't miss a single year and who was best in every wrestling company should be the Wrestler of the Decade, not a guy who was best in just one wrestling company.

When ranking wrestlers, you have to remember, try to base it off of their work ethic and their performances. Look at wrestlemania, would you say rollins is stronger than lesnar because he beat him twice? Hell no, that was just the booking decision that wwe wanted. But they both delivered a hell of a performance and lesnar isn't near the top 5, but when he wants to make someone look good, they look absolutely amazing. My rankings were based off of performances, work rate, effectiveness and efficiency and experience. AJ is a big player wherever he works. Jericho came back from retirement and was better than he was before, and his gimmick is that he gave AEW legitimacy, but it's actually kinda true. People know who he is and he brings a lot of eyes to the promotion so people can see the talent. Jericho is slowing down, but his matches are still entertaining as hell and theres not a wasted movement at all. Looking at it now, I probably should've put punk and d bry as honorable mentions because of the time they lost due to retirement. But eh

If you consider the decade from the viewpoint if it being a golden age for independent promotions, Kevin Steen's work is on mythic levels. PWG, ROH into NXT and all of the lauded talent to come through those halls owe a lot to Kevin. It's foolish to undersell his importance.

@@robertcooper4935 in fairness it's not about how long you do something, it 's what you do. you can certainly achieve something more substantial in 1 year than most could in 10. take the 90s, if you were creating a similar list for that decade the rock would deserve to be on it... pretty much exclusively for only 2 years of work. with the second year being the only time he'd been a big star. becky lynch has basically done the equivalent of what the rock did in the nineties. closed out the decade as one of the companies biggest ever stars. if you're being honest, cena didn't do anything this decade more impressive than that.

Okada is amazing but he was unable to be successful outside Japan (although he's able to speak pretty good English and has great charisma). Also IMO while judging a decade consistency is what matters the most (hence why I think that Becky and punk don't belong on the list). Someone who wins the top belt in TNA, NJPW (twice) and WWE in one decade should be considered the best wrestler period.

I thought AJ Styles would be #1 or at the very worst in the top three, because he's done it all. Punk is definitely on the list, but in the bottom 5.
