Insight let you quantify and visualize heating and cooling loads.
In Revit, there are two ways of reviewing the heating and cooling loads of your design. For both you will first need to generate an Insight, using the Basic Workflow presented previously.
1. Open your conceptual model “Office_conceptm_18.rvt” and run an Insight by using the Basic Workflow presented previously.
2. For the first method, go on your Analysis tab in Revit and click on the ‘Heating Cooling’ icon to generate a loads report with a summary of heating and cooling loads by space, including a breakdown of loads by components. Note that this report is not available in FormIt.
3. For the second method, you can use both Revit and FormIt to visualize the heating and cooling loads, by zone, Go on your insight interface by either clicking on the ‘Optimize’ icon in Revit or select “Generate Insight” from the Insight dropdown menu in FormIt.
4. You can visualize your heating and cooling loads via the Insight visualization panel at the top-right of the page. Click on heating loads and cooling loads to visualize these loads.
In the default color-coding scheme, blue indicates higher heating loads and green indicates lower heating loads. For the cooling loads, red indicates higher cooling loads and green indicates lower heating loads.
5. Click on any of the spaces in the model for information on the load density, peak load, and floor area of that space. See the load range for the entire building on the button right corner of the visualization window.
