10 Horrible WWE Matches That Almost Ruined A Wrestlers Legacy 

*I’m just gonna pretend like Shawn Michaels return in 2018 was nothing but a bad nightmare. I’m so glad I’ve never watched that match because people were telling me that it was an atrocity from start to finish.*

In HBK’s defense, 3 million dollars in a heck of a reason to come back. And he was the best part of that match.

Seth Rollins vs The Fiend at Hell in Cell...that match destroyed a little bit of both of their Legacies

The ironic part about HBK's match in 2018 is he was by far the best performer in that match despite being retired for 8 years and the other three were active wrestlers. The match was terrible but it definitely wasn't down to HBK.

For Lawler vs Michael Cole, in a way I feel like you can’t really blame Michael Cole either, as he was just doing as told. Apparently Vince was furious at him for being so terrible but like…it was his idea for putting a non-wrestler in a match.

While I agree with this list I feel as though the most damaging feud was Rollins vs Fiend. It NEVER should've been about the belt for the fiend. The HIAC was absolute BS. To this day I still can't get behind either Rollins or Wyatt over this booking. There's moments it seems real and there's moments that really drive home that it's all staged. That was the latter. The Saudi match for dx vs B.O.D wasn't disappointing because not a single person was hyped for it.

I remember being surprised to see The Undertaker and Roman Reigns close out WrestleMania 33. I remember thinking the main event that year was gonna go to Lesnar and Goldberg.

A bad night that almost became fatal for Undertaker, the Taker/Goldberg match.

#10: And now you know why he lost every match at Summerslam for six years.

Shawn Michaels regretted t match so much that he actually said he doesn't consider this a real match.

The Undertaker vs. Goldberg and DX vs. The Brothers of Destruction

Regarding the match between DX and the Brothers of Destruction, all four men were well past their primes, and Triple H intended to carry the match for his team. Trips got injured in the early in the match, and that forced Shawn Michaels to work more than expected.

It shows you what a great person The Undertaker is that in his documentary the last ride he takes all the blame for his bad match with Reigns on him. Would have been the easy way out to say that it was Reigns fault and people would have believed that. Also not blaming Goldberg in sny kind of way

At least HBK realized he had made a mistake, and vowed never to repeat it. He didn't do a Ric Flair.

I hated what Cena did to the Nexus the group was on fire I loved every storyline they were in I think he saw people constantly grew tired of him snd he didn’t like it

I'm surprised that he didn't bring up the fact that at the Monday night after wrestlemania, all the fans turned on Roman Reigns and it took a very long time for Reigns to recover from that match to.

The Undertaker vs Goldberg and DX vs Brothers of Destruction where by far the worst ones that I've witnessed

Eldertaker vs Oldberg was a disaster before it even happened

If Saudi Arabia wasn't so demanding of legends, Undertaker vs Goldberg would have never happened.

A WCW PPV match main event back in the day between Booker T VS Diamond Dallas Page would have been awesome.

My Uncle Tommy used to wrestle under the moniker Abel, his tag team partner was Cane, locally but worked out with some legends like Chris Benoit(before the bad thing happend) , The Hardy Boys since they're from the same state and Buff Bagwell. He is a big man my Uncle Tommy, his muscles have muscles😂

Blame Buff Bagwell for that one. Buff was lazy and he himself has said that his heart wasn't in it.

I don’t think any one match could ever ruin Undertaker or HBK’s legacies. In Undertaker’s case, it was his utterly over with fans but underwhelming in abilities opponent in Goldberg. Just ask the Hitman. In HBK’s case, as with Flair, it was lack of ability, not lack of character. What would’ve worked better for HBK would’ve been another curtain call. He could’ve come out in one corner of the arena saying, “as the HBK I could break your heart tonight by not wrestling, or I could break it by wrestling.” Then Bret Hart and Steve Austin could’ve come out in the next corner of the arena saying, “you’ll never break this Hart.” Steve Austin could’ve said, “that’s cold but there’s only one Stone Cold.” Then they’d leave. Finally HBK, Scott Hall and the rest of the Kliq could’ve walked through the crowd and Scott Hall could’ve said, “you know who we are, but not why we’re here.” Then they and HBK done their curtain call. Alas, rest in peace, Scott Hall. You may be gone but your legacy and Razor Rrrramon vignettes will live forever.

I personally liked BOD vs DX, I wasn't expecting 90s/2000s them I knew they were older and they did decent for their ages even thought they did better than alot of younger guys

In the Dx vs Bot match i felt Shawn was the only one putting some energy into the match. He did not look too tired and gave some classic HBK moments. The reason the match flopped was because triple h, Kane and undertaker acted like dead weights.

The fiend vs Rollins at HIAC was by far the worst

Two old farts in evening gowns looks like a comedy match. When I watched it that way, it didn't suck so much. As for Lawler vs Cole, I thought that was more about getting Austin on Wrestlemania...

Who's to say one match will ruin ones reputation after having hundreds if not thousands of bangers?

Booker T vs. Buff Bagwell was fine, having it in Tacoma, WA (about as far from WCW country as geographically possible) was the problem. Instead of, you know, waiting a week to do it in ATLANTA instead.

That Pat Patterson match taking the bronco Buster makes so much sense now.

Greatest match was King Kong Bundy versus The Great Khali in the big blue cage. Awesome match, I was just happy to see Mr. T in Bundy's corner and then the ending where they played Cult of Personality by Living Color..

Alright I'm gonna defend The Undertaker because of my name and profile picture: 2017: Taker really couldn't keep up with Roman because he was going through *a lot* of health problems in 2017 but thankfully he managed to get better. 2018: In my opinion Triple H and Taker were the only people who carried the match with Kane and Shawn being rusty, you can't really expect a 5 star match from 4 men all around 50 years old. 2019: Goldberg was the issue. Can't change my mind. Taker was carrying him but he can only do so much with somebody like Goldberg.

Taker vs Reigns should’ve never happened in the way it did. Reigns still wasn’t popular and having him demolish the deadman was just straight up disrespectful. I understand Taker was in bad shape at the time but if that was the case the match should’ve never happened, especially at Wrestlemania

The fact that Seth match against Fiend was the worst hell in a cell match , in 2022 Seth gave one of the best hell in a cell match classic 5* match against Cody

Shawn Michaels vs the Undertaker was so underwhelming. That match should’ve never happened.

Goldberg should have never returned in 2016. That beastly aura was longer there since he left wwe back in 2004. He was forcing it and it was never the same.

The Undertaker should have faced Goldberg in 2004 with his Dead man character back, but unfortunately, Goldberg was out of the company at that time. If we had Goldberg in his prime vs. The Undertaker (Dead man character) in his prime too, Goldberg would have won, as I see that Goldberg was stronger than The Undertaker when both men were on their prime.

You failed to mention how HHH tore his pec at the very beginning of the match. That means that Shawn had to direct traffic and take a much bigger role in the match than originally planned. Low bar, but he was the only good thing about that match.

I don't think any post retirement match should even be considered for ruining a wrestler's legacy. That's the way I look at it. It's just people that love the business so much and want to get in the ring one more time, it's a novelty for fans and a moment of nostalgic high for the performer. And the performers give so much to us as viewers, I say just let em have it. Shawn Michaels gives me 20 years of amazing storylines and great entertainment and he wants to go one more time, he's earned the right to his novelty one off match. That's basically my view of it.

Some of these matches are more along the lines of “worst match RESULTS that almost ruined a wrestlers’s legacy” rather than the actual physical match itself

Buff Bagwell vs. Booker T was supposed to be bad.

They should've taken the belt off of Miz and had him wrestle Lawler. Their match on RAW was fantastic and Michael Cole's inclusion was such an all-time terrible decision. As for Cena and the belt? IDK they probably could've done Punk or Orton or even a face vs face match with Rey Mysterio. Or maybe go ahead and have Rock challenge Cena? That would've been good too *eye roll*.

The only thing as I have said for some time to save WCE would have been to leave Nitro on air separate from Raw and Smackdown.

What were the flaws in the Booker T and Bagwell match? Was it lackluster, did they botch? I feel really bad asking these questions because I was surrounded by "Hulk-mania" as a little kid and was actively watching wrestling from the start of the "Outsiders" angle in WCW up until the middle of the "Ruthless Agression" era in WWE. RU-vid has been filling in a lot of gaps from those times.

Until just recently, nothing good ever came out of the Saudi shows. Goldberg vs Taker, DX vs Bros of Destruction, Goldberg vs Fiend, Lesnar vs Strowman, Shane and Taker winning some trophy tournaments they were never part of, and my mahn Titus O'Neil botch sliding under the ring. Those shows destroyed the reputation of legends as well as young talent alike.

I don't think the Booker vs Buff match was as bad as every says it was. I mean you have 2 WCW guys wrestling in front of a WWE crowd, so did you expect them not to be booed? WCW as a second brand could have worked if they gave it time, and not just shoveled everything down everyone's throat right away.

The only good thing about Scott Steiner Vs Triple H @ 2003 Royal Rumble PPV for me personally it's the Promo package before the match with Falling apart by trust company is an amazing song and Goldberg Vs Brock Lesnar @ Wrestlemania XX sucked their Match @ Wrestlemania 33 was a lot better.
